testing out their foggers alongside their TX fixtures!
These LEDs come with an IP65 rating for moisture resistance. But what is an "IP65" rating? Let's talk about it! π
Our T, TX, and MX are all examples of fixtures with an IP65 rating, which allows resistance to dusts and liquids. By definition, the International Protection Rating (IP) classifies the degrees of protection provided against the intrusion of solid objects (including body parts like hands and fingers), dust, accidental contact, and water in electrical enclosures.
So, for grow lights, it is an absolutely crucial distinction -- foliar spraying, especially from automatic systems, creates moisture throughout the space, which our lights can withstand with ease! πͺ
And for greenhouses that store exotic carnivorous plants like the ones they have at , reliability is key. Be sure to check out their page for TONS of awesome information about their plants and their step-by-step updates they provided while getting these greenhouses set up. Talking lighting and lighting equipment with ! π
This is a clip from the latest episode of Dr. Robb's Limiting the Limiting Factors series!
Robb focuses on how light can limit net photosynthesis, and about the equipment they use at their facility to optimize their grow. He talks a little science, a little silly, and finishes off the full video with a lot of eye candy, showing off how good their crops are looking growing under the Photobio MX & TX lights!
Head over to page for the full video! Tons of great information and useful things to remember π
UNRIVALED light uniformity πͺ
When it comes to giving your canopy the perfect amount of light, look no further: the MX is perfect for small and large scale operations alike, with only the highest quality diodes used to make that happen. Long lasting, reliable, and durable, this lighting fixture is one that you can set and forget π€
With this system, we went a different route -- instead of the traditional bar-style LED that you'd normally see from similar fixtures, the MX uses a flatter, contiguous circuit board to produce optimal PPFD uniformity at all times β
has been enjoying success with their fleet of TX lights π€
I mean, just read what they had to say after their first harvest with these fixtures:
"We just finished our first harvest since installing our upgraded lights from & GGRO Horticulture, and it was a massive bumper crop. The flowers tested at 26-31% THC (depending on cultivar)!!! The yield was 107.47% larger than the historical average!!!"
The TX is absolutely BUILT for large scale commercial facilities, whether they're in a greenhouse or fully enclosed space. Providing a strong PPFD footprint while maintaining a thin form factor, this light can be used either as a primary or secondary light source. In greenhouse settings, the TX's design allows for nearly unobstructed sunlight during daylight hours, with the power to maintain the desired lighting cycle in the darker parts of the year.
The TX is ready for anything πͺ
The PHOTOBIO TX, a high-efficiency indoor LED top light is designed for greenhouse and indoor applications alike. With a slim design like this, it works as both a primary and supplemental light source, and the effective commercial design utilizes a closed-loop heat pipe cooling system to rapidly wick heat from diodes, providing superior heat dissipation and longevity! These lights were built. to. last. π
Everything you need to know about the PHOTOBIO CX! π
This high-efficiency compact top light is designed for horticultural professionals looking to increase performance and yields while minimizing power consumption. In fact, it is our most powerful light yet!
The CX is truly a direct 1:1 replacement for 1000W DE fixtures, while offering higher photon flux, more light to your plant canopy, and better overall distribution vs 1000W DEβs! The 2.6" Slim vertical design is optimal for maximizing vertical real estate, while passive cooling fins keep the operating temperatures low.
The CX features iLOC Integrated Light Output Control push-button interface allowing the grower to adjust the photon output based on crop maturity. And like many of our other fixtures, it produces the S4 lighting spectrum, allowing use from veg all the way through flower π±
Are you sure your plants are getting the correct levels of light?
Finding out is as simple as ever with our Advanced Quantum PAR Meter!
There are a few obvious factors that impact PPFD to plants, but there are many other variables, such as the color, texture and distance to your walls; even the number/distance of other lights in a multi-light set up can play a role β and thatβs just to name a few. π
Using our high-quality PAR meter is one of the simplest ways growers can understand the impact of any adjustments made, to maximize plant performance in all phases of growth. Itβs a fantastic tool to have to get the most out of your lights and most importantly, your crop! ππ±
with an innovative mixed-spectrum setup πͺ
We've seen quite a few facilities using a mix of HPS and LED fixtures, and this arrangement creates a number of benefits. Most obviously, it allows growers to jump into the world of LED with a lower cost of entry. But beyond that, by mixing HPS and LED fixtures in your grow, plants will take and use wavelengths that they need (when they need them), while also providing radiant heat and diffuse light from the HPS luminaires -- in addition to being able to extend your light use with LEDs into the warmer spring months without the added heat load. Pretty neat! π‘

has BIG plans for this greenhouse! βοΈ
Check out this clip, where breaks down their thought process on the construction of their newest greenhouse, featuring a ton of TX fixtures for supplemental lighting.
This greenhouse will allow for unobstructed natural light during prime golden hours, with the LED lighting needed for extra daylight hours during the offseason.
"We are ready to add the wiring to all the working parts now and bring this thing to life! Itβs been a journey in the other greenhouses and I cannot wait to perfect the craft in these new ones."
Redleaf Exotics specializes in rare, exceptional tropical pitcher plants and nepenthes! This nursery is one of the top sources for carnivorous plants in the US, and it's awesome to see our lights put to such a unique use π€
Powerful lighting, built for commercial growing πͺ
The TX is the "big brother" of the PHOTOBIO T, with the power to match. Perfect for greenhouse and indoor facilities alike, this 680W LED packs a punch with 1768 umol/s Photon Flux @ 277V and 2.6 Β΅mol/J Efficacy @ 277V β‘οΈ
It also comes fully compatible with our Power Distribution Tree and Communication Tree systems, meaning they can be daisy-chained and powered from a single power source! πͺ
The MX is all about power and efficiency! πͺ
The PHOTOBIO MX utilizes an efficient contiguous circuit board to deliver unrivaled PPFD uniformity to your canopy. This maintains strong lighting at a fraction of the cost. When this fixture was in development, extensive thermal modeling and testing was conducted to ensure diode operating temps remain low, maintaining consistent light output and longevity. The 0-10V PHOTOβ’LOC Light Output Control allows you to precisely regulate the amount of PPFD delivered to your plants at every stage of growth.β The thin, compact design allows for easy movement when needed, also making it perfect for multi-level growing facilities.
So what exactly is the S4 spectrum and what does it entail? Well, it all comes down to versatility. The S4 lighting spectrum delivered by the MX essentially allows for this light to be used in either the vegetative or flowering stages, as the spectrum is balanced with blue and red light, and can be adjusted to maximize effectiveness as you transition between each growth cycle! β‘οΈ
It's a beauitful Monday in the garden π

Whether you are in a tent or a fully built-out facility, the MX is a top-of-the-line solution for superior light pe*******on and a full spectrum output π
Dialing in your lighting levels can take your harvest from "pretty good" to top shelf! π₯
And it's as simple as ever with our Advanced Quantum PAR Meter! , seen here using the PAR meter at , certainly knows the benefits π
PAR meters measure the number of photons per square meter per second. The measure is called photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) and is measured in Β΅mol/mΒ²/s.
In simple terms, it measures the intensity of light, allowing you to make the adjustments needed for healthy growth! By providing the right amount of light for each growth stage (vegetative or flowering), you can maximize photosynthesis and flower production, resulting in larger and more potent buds. π±
Another big reason to get this PAR meter is strain-specific lighting needs. Different cannabis strains may have varying light requirements. A PAR meter allows you to tailor the light levels to the specific needs of the strains you are cultivating, optimizing their growth and cannabinoid production π
Much love to our friend at , the awesome for the photo! πΈ

When you don't have room to build out, build up! π
When we designed two of our lighting fixtures, we wanted to be sure that they could maintain a low profile for vertical farming. Today, multi-level facilities are becoming more and more common in denser areas, and we have the LEDs to do the job πͺ
Our MX and VP fixtures are designed to take up as little vertical real estate as possible while still providing enough light to be used as a primary lighting source. So whether you're dealing with clones (VP) or vegging/flowering plants (MX), these systems can lead the way through the entire growth cycle, no matter what kind of growing space you have!

Supplementing with some LED lighting π±
Like some others we've worked with, this facility uses a mixed spectrum lighting setup with the TX to achieve their desired results! So, why might someone choose to use a mix of LED and HPS?
The first significant benefit is the cost β sometimes, you may not want to jump all the way into the world of LED, especially if your existing systems still work and you can save money by avoiding the up-front cost. Additionally, the significant amount of heat radiated by HPS and the relatively cool operation of LED can help you achieve a balanced climate in a hybrid lighting environment throughout the seasons. For example, in colder months the heat from HPS lighting can offset HVAC use.
The next benefit comes from the lighting spectrum possibilities: When you look at PAR (photosynthetically active radiation) β the blue, green, and red range on the spectrum β only around 6% of the light from HPS lamps is blue light. By providing very little blue light, HPS lamps are depriving plants of a critical wavelength that controls growth.
Suppose you would like to promote more compact growth with blue light β adding customizable LEDs to your facility would allow you to achieve this! If you wanted to induce fruiting by introducing more red and far-red light, this would be easily possible with a hybrid lighting solution that includes customizable LEDs like the TX!
The TX is ideal for large indoor facilities, with a slim design that packs a powerful punch with unrivaled longevity. With easy daisy-chain capabilities between fixtures, you can fill out an entire room of this size using only a small few power sources β‘οΈ
Another week, another check-in on 's LED test room! βοΈ
