EARLY CHILD MARRIAGE IN YOBE STATE,
Early child marriage is a manifestation of gender inequality, and it is tantamount to child abuse, and it potents a bleak and sordid future for the girl child and the women of Yobe state. A situation whereby young girls are given out to older men old enough to be their fathers to marry, which ends up destroying the future of the girl child and creating further marital problems.

-Some effects of early child marriage

Early Child Marriage brings about poverty in the near or far future of the women, they are most likely to experience domestic violence and forceful sexual relations due to unequal power, they are more vulnerable to sexually transmitted infections, because of the immaturity of the body system to handle bacterias which sometimes leads to death, and it’s unfortunate that most early child marriages are driven by poverty.

Early child marriage also negatively influences children's rights to education, this young girls tend to drop out of school or tend not to go to sch at a very tender age, having to deal with illiteracy, unemployment, and most times this impels them into begging on the streets just for survival!

The girl child gets frustrated, depressed, indulge in premature delivery, high incidence of miscarriage and stillbirth and most times this also leads to death. It’s such a sorrowful lifestyle by the northerners, that’s because it’s said to be the tradition of their communities.

In proffering solution, the government of yobe state must be able to create a strong law enforcement agency that’ll fight and abolish the idea of early child marriage in Yobe State, and there should be a penalty for having to expose or force the girl child into early child marriage.
NORTHERNERS SHOULD PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THE EDUCATION OF THE GIRL CHILD AND DO AWAY WITH EARLY CHILD MARRIAGE…
