Kinaiya

Kinaiya is who you are. Let's explore ourselves and the beauty that lies within. We are products of experiences and decisions that define us uniquely.

Together, we search and embrace our own self and present it to the world with pride and positivity.

Social media is an extension of ourselves and our personality, be responsible, cautious, and mindful in using it 'coz it offers both advantages and both disadvantages. Just be true to yourself and uncover own self realizations.

Too much of everything is a bad thing, that's an idea we should always abide by.
And it is also applicable to the way we use social media. We should consume the
contents available to us in a moderate way.

We humans are social creatures, and while most of us rely on social media platforms
in order to connect with each other, we shouldn't let it be the only for us to socialize.
Always be mindful regarding the effects of social media on your health,
if prolong usage of it causes you any feeling of anxiety, depression, isolation
and fear of missing out (FOMO). You should set limit and filter how you interact
with the virtual world.

Even in time of a pandemic, we could always socialize with our family members and
engage in activities that improve our health all while obeying social distancing policies.
Don't let the world you see on your screen completely replace the real world we live in.

"Ang Babaeng Allergic sa Wifi"
Is a movie that taught us several lesson that will make us realize the real essence of life:

1. Importance of reality outside the digital world.

2. Consequences of digital world, it can do more harm (bullying, addiction, fake news)

3. Life becomes more toxic

4. Investing more time online making a person forget to connect the nature, the environment and other people offline which can be more active and fun.

5. Private matters are not for sharing

6. Other people are more concerned with the digital version of their lives to the point that they forget to live in the moment and cherish every second.

7. Radiation from wifi & smartphones can be harmful.

8. It can also cause EHS syndrome.

9. Internet or signal cause stress .

10. Sometimes the relationship formed online is superficial compared to the one that is created in real life.

11. Enjoy doing traditional things cause somehoe it can create better memories.

12. We focus on the digital version of our selves to the point that we forget to be who we really are.

13. Because of the online world, life is so much faster. We are missing the reality and other things that are more exciting.

14. It is difficult to trust someone online.

15. Sometimes do not become real online because we are considering what other might think and how they wanted to see us. People based their self presentation on the trend and the standards set by the society.

Do not forget to live your life to explore and express, not to impress.

Social media allows us to have our very own space and while that is true for everyone, we should always be responsible and careful enough to not invade others' space. Always be mindful, because everything you post will stay in the internet for as long as forever. And it can intentionally or unintentionally affect people in many ways, like change in perspective, losing confidence, mental health deterioration and many more, all causing direct impacts to a person's life.

Merry Christmas, kapwa! πŸŽ„πŸ’πŸŽ…

24/12/2020

Kapwa, we hope that our posts for the past few days helped you unpack your "self" in various aspects - physical, sexual, material, spiritual, political, and digital. Remember to balance each aspect of the self well, and may those help you in search of your self-identity.

It's Christmas Eve, kapwa! Enjoy it with your loved ones & together, celebrate the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. πŸ’πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸ™

1 day to go before christmas!!! πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸ’

It's weird how people are so concerned with the digital version of their lives. People follow the trends and present themselves online based on how they want others to see them. We forget who we really are and to live in the moment. We all need to realize the importance of reality outside the digital world we have today. Since what we have online might not be authentic because people can easily pretend to be someone else for personal interests or worse, to cause you harm. That's why we also need to know the consequences of the internet to avoid them.

Kapwa, let's enjoy life outside the digital world. It's happier to create memories with tangible people & things than those inside your phone.

You can make a public identity through your political self. Filipinos are rich in traits that show our Filipino culture. The most well known traits of Filipinos are being hospitable to guests, resiliency, and being jolly despite life's challenges. The saying of "Po" and "Opo" also depicts our culture. Let us take care of our culture and continue to enrich them for future generations to come.

Being politically aware is also important in building our political selves because we are not just called Filipinos by name, we must live it. Knowing our rights and responsibilities as Filipinos, participating and involving ourselves to political issues, using our votes to elect officials that are true to their sworn duties, and making use of our voices toward change and development are some of the many ways on how to express our political selves.

Kapwa, be not just a Filipino by name, rather be a Filipino in mind, word, deed, and heart.

3 days to go before christmas!!! πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸ’

2020 has been a tremendously difficult and painful year for the whole world, especially to our country, the Philippines. The Taal Volcano eruption, numerous typhoons, earthquakes, political issues, injustices, killings, and the most devastating, the pandemic, challenged most of the Filipinos. But look at us, we are still here fighting to survive because we have our God. He who is above all these challenges will give us hope and faith to stand up and move forward. Let us not forget to pray and continue to improve our relationship with the God, who we proclaim and recognize. Find comfort in your spiritual selves when everything seems to fail you.

Trust in Him and stay safe, kapwa!

Material things were made to make our lives easier, but these things should not define us. There's nothing wrong to treat yourself with luxurious things out of your hard-earned money. However, what is too much is harmful. You might live life depending on the things you acquire and lose your authentic self and the true meaning of life. It's beyond those expensive things that we find true happiness and contentment.

Just some reminders, kapwa:

- Know exactly the stage of love you're into, if it's just lust, falling in love, or attachment. By that, you'll know how to differentiate them.

- Be a responsible sexual being. Every fragile action may lead to unwanted results.

- Learn to accept the diversity of sexual behavior. We are all human beings, no matter what our gender is. It does not lessen our rights & morality as a person.

We are all sexual beings, and it is a part of the self that we should learn to understand and control.

People always make their first impression based on how someone looks, because physical self is the concrete and most visible aspect of a person that can be easily seen or observed. It is the first thing we present to others that allows them to generate their first impression. Having a clear and fair skin, pointed nose, on fleek eyebrows, and sexy body are some of the beauty standards set by the society. Most of us strive to achieve these standards to be able to feel the sense of belongingness and acceptance.

But, kapwa, it is not necessary to alter yourself in order to feel accepted. You don't need to do things just to follow the standard set by the people. If you really want to enhance your appearance, do it for the sake of yourself and not to please others and not to follow the trend of society. Each one of us has our own kind of beauty given by God. Learn to accept your flaws because that's what make you unique. Don't ever compare yourself to anyone and use their judgments against yourself to feel less confident on your physical appearance. Acceptance must start within you, because one's you learn to love yourself, you will no longer seek for other's validation and you'll realize your value and worth.

Kapwa, you are beautiful just the way you are.

Every individual has their own way of defining themselves. At first, we tend to use different adjectives to justify our definition. We sometimes identify ourselves as someone who is simple, strong, smart, adventurous, attractive, shy or an independent person and many more. But, it doesn't end there. Most of us are not aware that there are different components of self that we must know because unconsciously we present it and it plays a major role in defining ourselves, our individuality.

The physical appearance, sexual characteristics, our relationship with worldly possessions or material things, connection with our God, involvement in political aspects, and engagement to digital technology have something to do on how we define one's self.

Unpacking the self is an important thing to achieve because by that we will be able to further appreciate and love ourselves and our connection and relationship to the people around us. We must know who we are first to be able to have a better connection with others. Kinaiya Natin means being in our authentic character or self while in relation to others.

Let us discover more. Together let's explore to fully unpack our own unique selves.

"Be critical, vocal, and involved in the political process. We are a democratic country and it is our duty to keep our government in check."

This remark from the late senator, Miriam Defensor Santiago, will let us realize that we, especially the youth, should participate in the elections. Be critical in choosing the right people to be in the position. Our votes matter to make a change to the unruly system of the government.

We can also use digital platforms such as social media to speak up and voice our opinions and frustrations against the evil deeds and wrongdoings of those politicians who are driven by greed. Let's not let them use our money to sustain their expensive lifestyles while we, the country, are being lead to poverty.

With the abundance of choices in the modern market, combined with the materialistic characteristics of humans. It often results in spending money and buying things that we don’t necessarily need. Although this is fine as we might use this as a way to reward ourselves, we should always put ourselves in check, excessive spending on things that we don’t need might steer us from buying things that we do.

20/11/2020

Often times, we, Filipinos are known to have resiliency. Some of us believe that it is a way for us to overcome the challenges in our lives. There's nothing wrong with having hope, or a bit of optimism. But, overdoing it will lead to toxic positivity that invalidates our sufferings and tolerating the irresponsibility of people in charge.

Life is unfair, and not everyone had been born with a privilege. Same goes with opportunity. We shouldn't normalize these situations wherein these are real sufferings. We're always taught to ignore the reality which leads to failure on noticing the cause. Aren't you tired of always trying to look at the brighter side?

We must learn to stop romanticizing resilience. Instead, learn why we experience these things in a time of crisis. Maybe, it's time that we stop ignoring people's suffering and the acceptance that we should live with these agonies. Maybe, it's time we realize that we deserve better than this.

Take time to reflect on these questions:

Do we really need to adapt to this hardships because we are so-called Resilient Filipinos? Do we really have no choice but to endure these agonies? Why do we keep settling for less when we deserve so much better than this?

19/11/2020

It's normal to desire material things in this world especially if you are capable to buy all those luxurious things but being over materialistic is too much. As most of our elders who've reached their senior years still not found their purpose in life because instead of living with a meaningful life doing great things and building their self , they spent most of their life in enjoying those worldly possessions. That’s why if you want to achieve a more meaningful life with no regrets, set your minds above all things and always make sure that you treasure every moment that you are with your loved ones because that's what defines a human being.

What are you? Are you really a human being or are you slowly turning into a human having? Think carefully, kapwa.

19/11/2020

Save your money. Don't spend it on things that you don't necessarily need. Learn how to control your money or else it will control you someday. As Filipinos we are often seen to overcome calamities with smiles on our faces as we prove ourselves to be stronger than the adversities that we face. But do we deserve it? What must be the reason that the Filipino should suffer? These difficulties are real, and it’s never wrong to be resilient but let’s not overlook the shortcomings of those who pledged to serve the people.

We often tend to buy the things we want in a rush without having deep thoughts about whether it is really worth the buy or not. Even though it feels great to reward yourself and buy all the things you want, always aim to be a responsible consumer to avoid leftovers.

So here are some tips and reasons why you should start being aware of the things you buy and consume:

Avoid wasting foods - Food wastes contributes greatly to climate change. By avoiding wasting foods, your carbon print will be lessened and the methane emissions from landfills will be reduced. This can be done by consuming the left overs, not buying too much food, proper storage of food and putting the extras in refrigerator, always check the stocks that are easily spoiled, and always lookout for the expiration date.

Avoid wasting water - Water is one of our basic needs and resources, it is a privilege to have an access to a clean water. Learn to conserve it and consume only the necessary and right amount. We all depend on water for a living, we must learn to keep our limited supply of water clean and away from pollution. Just by simply turning off tap water when brushing your teeth is already a big help. Do not put it into waste and be a responsible consumer because, every drop counts.

Conserve Energy - Turn off or unplug your appliances when not in use to reduce energy consumption. Saving energy lowers our living expenses and benefits the environment through less cause of air pollution and building of power plants that create noise and safety hazards to nearby residents.

Knowing the importance of 3Rs - We must learn to carefully control our waste products to make sure of a healthy and clean environment for everyone. Come on and practice the 3 R's of waste management: REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE! Let's make a healthy, safe, and better environment not just for us but for the future generations to come.

Do not buy unnecessary things - Spend on the things that are necessary, try your best to avoid the temptation, try to lessen giving in to worldly pleasure, and away from retail seductions. Know your priorities and create a mindset of gratitude and contentment, envision your future and know if you're already secure, you can spend enormously but being aware of the consequences can save you from your greatest regret.

Budget Money - Learn how to budget! Avoid spending on impulse and allocate specific amounts of money on your priorities. This will allow you to be mindful of where your money goes and in doing this, it will lessen the effects of overspending that many of us tend to do. May it be dividing your money for your needs, wants and your savings, there are plenty of budgeting strategies. Try them out and see what works for you! To handle your money wisely is an essential skill to be a good consumer, so in the future you don't find yourself biting off more than you can chew.

Support Local - Purchasing local products also means supporting your local economy! These products also cost cheaper but way more unique than you think. Local businesses who sell these are also more likely to donate to the non-profits. It could also make a difference in the environment for they cause less carbon footprints compared to larger companies. And you are also giving people more opportunities and jobs! So if you are planning to buy things, choose wisely and something that will also benefit other people.

Prioritize Safety - We should keep in mind that our safety is our priority when it comes in to consuming goods and services. Knowing what materials were used, source of raw and how it was processed, the accountability of the manufacturer and lastly the production partners of this manufacturer. Establishing actions through these tips, your safety will be guaranteed.

We hope that you've learned something today through these small tips. Stay sharp, kapwa! πŸ’›
