Was lucky enough to have a friendly neighbor snap some drone pics today. Really fun removal here. The big pine off to the side made for easy rigging. Didn't charge extra for sweeping the roof off.

Had a great time helping an old great friend handle a couple pesky trees today.

This was a job where I helped a fellow company . This was one of those jobs where the tree was a big pain, with house feeds of electric lines below going to ways under the tree. It was extremely hot, and I got very dehydrated and felt signs of heat exhaustion, and mental fatigue. Not to mention the top of this tulip poplar had previous signs of storm damage, with dead/dying leads at the top, which was a top that went 3 different directions, with no great tie in point. This led to most of the climb being awkward, or at least a lot of it felt that way. The point of this post, is that the pics here look like all positive happy tree work, but if you look closer, you'll see a handrail on the steps that is smashed, from a chunk I dropped that bounced funny, and smashed the railing. This was a job that was a huge reminder that what we do is dangerous. It takes skill, it takes focus, and is valuable. Even on days that seem to be going smoothly, we have to treat every day like safety matters, and continue to watch each other's backs for mental fatigue, or even worse, complacency.

Every large Japanese city I've been to has trees trimmed like this. It just looks like poor trimming and unatural. I'd love to hear any other perspectives on this work.

Topping a bunch of Bradfords today. Always appreciate the help of my good friend Gavin from Go follow his Instagram too! Also, these are possibly my least favorite tree to be in, but better than sitting in an office.

Trimming a black walnut away from a house today. This was my first climb with the Notch Fusion Tether. I didn't really believe the hype, but I'm really digging it. Great having that handle on my SRT rig.

Was thankful to have my man Gavin from Few Goodmen Tree Service on the job today. Guys like him are worth their weight in gold. You can see Gavin searching for a section of log without metal in it here, but what you don't see, is a guy who doesn't get mad, or frustrated, just deals with the problem and moves on.

My man Rob getting it done on the Ramrod with the log grapple. My back thanks me every day that I use this grapple! Looking forward to getting a set of their forks soon! steer

Dropped a big Sycamore today. Decided to take some back weight off before doing so. Thanks to my homie Gavin for bringing his drone today! .

Pulling over a Long Stalk Holly tree. I'd never seen a Holly this large with leaves like it had. This tree was far too large to be next to that house. Branches were growing into the walls and roof/electrical.

Just another day at work...

This tree was wayyy too dead to mess with climbing. Thankfully I was able to get Chris Mercer on the job with his company, Tennessee Crane Rental LLC. Chris is hands down the best crane operator I've ever had the opportunity of working with. If you're an arborist in the Nashville area, hit him up! Always a clean pick!

Heck of a messy Walnut today! Started the day with a stuck throw line/rope, then a tie in point breaking on ascent, then after dropping some limbs, finding how bad of shape the tree really was. It's no surprise given the amount of vines on the tree.

Another point to mention, started the climb by moving my zigzag/chicane to 13mm Hawkeye climb line, as the zig zag doesn't work on 11.7 X-static any longer. After getting that line stuck, I went back to the X-static with an 8mm prussic/hitch climber/rope wrench, and the prussic started binding too tightly with a VT, so I swapped back to a 10mm prussic VT and finally found what I'd consider for the moment, a working climb line. Ever since the zig zag stopped working with the X-Static like, I don't feel like I've found a proper replacement. Feel free to share any SRT prussic, mechanical or rope, that anyone else enjoys.
