Labels Are Holding Rappers Back

I don't believe that we've seen the best of these rappers who are still signed to these record labels. Labels think about selling records while the artists just wants to make music e.g TDE signees like SZA are complaining about the CEO holding their music back maybe that's why Kendrick hasn't released an album since 2017. And they've even changed Kendrick's album release years because it was not good for their sales like 2011 they couldn't outsell Drake and J.Cole so they decided to go ahead of both and release in 2012 Cole and Drake in 2013 then Cole in 2014 then again they avoided two years just because rappers were releasing. Have you noticed how Kendrick Lamar somehow trues to fuse bangers into conscious songs so that it can sell well and send a strong message. At this point I don't think K.Dot cares about sales but he's gotta care just cos the label does. Jay Z didn't have a label behind him but he managed to be hip hop's first billionaire and proved you don't need labels. Look at J.Cole's 2010 mixtape Friday Night Lights did you know that it was supposed to be an album but because it had no hit single Jay Z said he wasn't gonna push it so they made it a mixtape. Labels don't really give a damn about you look at 6ix9ine's label trying to bribe Lil Durk with $3 Million so he could drive attention to 6ix9ine. Look at 2Pac's music they held it back because it wasn't fit to be hit singles but as soon as he died they start releasing an album called Greatest Hits using the same songs they held back from his previous albums. Look at NBA Youngboy's album cover the label forced him to make an album cover the same as Roddy Ricch's album cover trying to capture your attention. Many artists create their own record labels to be free to express themselves e.g Drake's OVO, Eminem's Shady Records, Lil Wayne's Young Money and J.Cole's Dreamville. When they create music from their own music they are not obliged to making hits only they are free.❤
