Videos by Charissa Brim. Making sense of our varied responses to sexual assault so we can live life to the brim.
Trauma changes things - oftentimes this can include our faith. And it’s tricky to figure out your faith with the backdrop of the holidays. It’s dripping with nostalgia, and this clouds our vision while clarifying our longings. It’s normal to miss the simplicity and certainty. And within that, I cannot help but believe that communing with a force outside of ourselves must look as expansive as that force itself. If your narrative is that you are created in God’s image, then this means Divine resilience is embedded in you, resourcing you in hard times. Science also confirms that you too have access to internal resources meant to help you find your footing in emotional turbulence. Trusting in ourselves when our core tenants are in question can feel a little russian roulette-y. But this truth can empower you to breathe deeply and know that while you figure things out, your access to guidance and support has not been revoked.
