My first day in Secondary school

My school is one that observe discipline to the core, somethings are actually over looked.
this particular incident is among the things that are over looked, although those that are not lucky enough, either got suspended indefinitely or expelled.

On that particular day going about my registration at the school admin block as we call it then.
After we are done, they said I should go to the hostel an finish up my registration so that I can be asigned to a house, I carried my school desk an my bags on top it,
my mum carried my carboard, with my stool on top,
off we go to the hostel.

What I saw first upon stepping out of the administration block was some group of guy standing attention with there eyes closed, upon seeing them the first thing that came to my mind was to go an ask them why they are standing like police officers, even police do not close there eyes when they see there superior.lol
It was later I discovered that you must stand at attention an close your eyes, whenever the school Captain is passing as a sign of respect,

that was my first lesson as a new comer,
when we got to the hostel my mum said,
Ebuka go an ask your fellow students where the new students are doing there registration
I said ok,
the first person I meet, a guy that has this imposing arua, due to how afraid I am I could not say anything even after I called his attention,
the next thing I heard was do you know were you are standin,
I said no,
what I heard next actually made me thought about changing school,
the guy said lie down flat an close your eyes,
in my mind I was saying is this were am going to stay for six years,
the other time some group of people were standing attention with there eyes closed, now me lieing down same eyes closed. hmmm

Maybe after waiting an not seeing me
my mum had to ask for directions herself,
it was the master in charge of registering new students that saved me.

After my registrations, I was assigned a house.

when am done arranging my stuffs,

I want to see my mother off because it was already getting late.
After the small round of advice she got going while I went back to hostel, immediately I got back, my corner met said I should go an fetch water now people is not much there. or I would have to wait till 10pm which is after night prep,
As a new guy I need to adapt fast to avoid trouble, so I said ok,
immediately i collect my small gallon,off I went to fetch water,

in my hostel there is this space at the center of the building that is meant for gathering,
some guys were just standing there chatting, some still doing there registration,
as I was passing one guy called me,
when I got to him he said,
boy what is your name, I said. Chukwu Success.
After giving me the look of what kind of name is that, he said success have you come an see me?,in my mind I was like,I just did my registration few minutes ago,how on earth do I suppose to see you; I said no.

the next word I heard was go down!, you are in this school an you have not come an see me.
I was already planning on how I will rush out, at least my mum has not gone far,I will just tell her am done.
Not long I heard give me that broom this guy suppose collect.
already I was crying, the guy gave me three strokes,before someone asking him to let me go, with a reminder that I should come an see him later. as I was going out I heard them whispering an then they started laughing.
as for me I was contemplating should I call my mother an tell her I don't want to stay here any more,but she will be very disappointed in me, after all she use to say, this is one of the best schools in the state, after some thinking I decided to stay for at least one week before deciding to call her,by then I will have more words to convince her.
It was when I got back that my corner mate said, Success that guy that flogged you is your class mate,
well after that day,I learnt that every body in that particular hostel is my class mate, that what he did is just normal between our selfs, I don't know how many people I ask to come an see me, after all,
the ritual must be pass on lol.

I call this one, school eve wahala

on this particular Sunday evening, during midterm break, already I will be going back to school the next day which is Monday,

This particular Sunday I felt wronged by my mum.
that day I was eating with my sister,when she said,Ebuka this one you an this people never query are you sure things are ok,

with frown I asked, Ebube what do you mean by that,
she said,you an I know that every evening before the day you will be going back to school, there will always be query between you an mum.

Even though am annoyed at her for saying that, I really can't denied that, even I was praying that no issue should occur, because I really can't stand my mum, that woman na cultis lol.

Not up to ten seconds after our discussion,my mum came in with some clothes an said,
Ebuka help me, wash this clothes
I said yes ma, an continue with my food,
due to how delicious the food was I had to collect second round.
After resting, due to over eating I decided to visit the toilet, inside there I was just busy thinking about how the remainder of the term will be, when I heard my name, Ebuka Ebuka, Ebuka, immediately I heard my name three times I knew am in for another trouble, I was busy asking myself what is it this time,when I heard,were is that clothes I ask you to wash,
I said, mum am just coming out of the toilet,moreover I just finished eating few minutes ago,
the next thing I heard was I gave you clothes to wash for me but you refused
no problem let me see how you will go back to school tomorrow, that was how my good Sunday evening was cut short, with no option I had to beg, funny enough, even though, it was not funny to me as of then,
she refused, due to not knowing what she really had in mind I went back to school the next day,it was not easy through out the remain of the term,I had to live depending on my Friend, who completed my transportation money when I was going back,it was until after exams that she letter sent money to me.
Till today I really don't know what happened that particular Sunday eve.
am still expecting my apologies.

Continuation of my Encounter

On Monday that is the next day, in the evening that my friend walk up to me an said, guy that my second stole something an ran away yesterday,
hmmm I was surprised first before asking.
What did he steal?

my guy said, he sold car engine to one aboki yesterday,as it stands now they are looking for the boy,
that was when i remember the guy's movement yesterday, because that my friend was not around when he returned my tablet.
Then I asked my friend what actually happened that yesterday.
because I can still remember seeing one aboki (iron condemn people) coming an going both Saturday an Sunday,
the guy said yes, that the guy brought up the issue that we should sell the engine, an run with the money,but he didn't buy the idea reason he is still new in the company, that Sunday he went out to see some friends only to come back in the evening an see that the boy has gone,for him due to he doesn't have anything to do with the issue he decided to stay.
After hearing him I was shot of word,
the only thing I could say to him was if he is sure the company will believe him because the guy is your second at least you could have called to inform them before hand.
He said even if he wanted to call, he does not have anybody's phone number within the company, as you can see am new here.
I said yes I might believe you but will they, see guy if things is not going as planned fine way ooh after all if things escalate now before your people will know things go don red,
that was the only thing I could say to him which I regret till today, I could have ask him to leave immediately at least it could have save him the trouble he is in now,

Now it's more than 5 months since I saw him last, that was after I heard from one of the company worker,that the security company that brought the other guy took him to the police for questioning, according to him during the police questioning he accepted doing other things but was not involved with the sell of the car engine.
So now the boy is in prison with little or no care, the worst part the security company refused to disclose location of the police station.

my Encounter
there is this my friend that worked with this company I prefer not to mention the company's name.

Friend introduced him to the company, that they are looking for workers (security)to be precise, the guy had to leave his formal working place, almost when he is due for salary because it's already end of month,but due to the big salary an the fear of not wanting to lose the job, after all there is accomodation, you know this accomodation matter is not a child's play here in Lagos, so he had to make a decision fast or risk losing the job, at the end of the day he chooses the new job, already there is this security company contacted with the company,
it's like this, the security company will bring one person an the company will employ one person directly,
so the boy is the person employed directly by the company.
As his neighbor I walk up to him,an said
hey guy my name is Emeka I am the security there I said, while pointing to the building next to there's,
he then said one name but unfortunately I can't remember the name,
there he told me how he left his formal working place,an now they refuse to pay him,
he then said, guy I don't have anything,even food, if you can borrow me any amount please I will pay you back, I was even surprised this is our first time of meeting an you are begging me money "in my mind I said how sure am I that this guy will pay me back,the worst part I have not been paid.
I said to him,ok but I don't have money now,but I have food stuffs now if you are interested I can give you some,
he said on problem.
I left to get the food, I brought rice, beans an oil. according to him he had other ingredients.
after Thanking me he left.
Just like that we became good friends.
There is this tablet I have,
The other guy from the security company have seen me once giving out the tablet, since then he has been disturbing me, that I should lend it to him that he wants to use it an watch movies,
not that I don't want to give it to him, it's
just that I don't trust giving my thing to him even though we are in good terms,
reason he has not been sincere to me.
One faithful Friday afternoon he walk up to me as usual,
an said guy abeg give me that your tablet i want to check one modem I bought from the market,
not knowing how to reject him I said ok, but am using it now but come an collect it tomorrow afternoon,
he said ok,
not that am using it than, but am looking for a way out at least not to give him the tablet yet,then I was thinking, maybe by tomorrow he will forget an not asking me about it.
So I went my activities as usual,not knowing that the next two days is bound to be eventful.
Afternoon the next day he walk up to me an said,
guy give me that thing,. without any option I gave it to him,the only thing I could say was make sure you charge it else I won't give it to you again.
Around 9pm I went to collect it back as agreed by both of us, only for that my friend to tell me that the guy went home with my tablet
I was so angered that I could not talk the only thing I was thinking about is how I will explain things to my sister after all am not the actual owner, I know she would never believe I don't sell it.
Seeing how angry I am my friend decided to comfort me,by saying the guy called an said he will come back tomorrow, at least his bag is still here.
by then my mind was not there, is he not doing his night job again,this was the only thing I could think of, after all there is this night work he normally does everyday, he should be preparing to go there by now i was saying in my mind,
only to hear the people ask him to stop days ago.without any option I had I go an wait for the next day which is Sunday.

Around 11am the next day I saw him.
immediately I walk up to him an said,
guy what happened,why did you go home with my stuff,
he said something came up so he had to go home,but now am back here is your tablet.
it was as if someone pure cold water on me only after seeing the tablet did my mind come down,In my mind I was like if this guy had tell me that he was robbed will I beat him no,last last I might only ask him to get another one ,only God knows how long I will wait if at all he will buy it.
After collecting the tablet I made sure to make it clear "guy am not giving you this thing again" abeg just don't beg me.
