Graffiti KL is a collaboration between her late brother (Teh Champ) and the National Visual Art Gallery, a documentation of the people who paved way for Malaysian graffiti art and culture around early 2009 to 2010. "In 2019, the United Nations estimated that 800,000 people worldwide are lost to su***de every year, which is equivalent to one person choosing to end their life every 40 seconds because of the difficulties, stress, or diseases encountered in life. Su***de attempts are over 20 times higher than the number of su***de deaths. Whether a person has the right to end their life has always been controversial...

Being human, it has always been a controversial topic whether a person has the right to end their life. There are differing opinions in the fields of religion, literature, philosophy, and science. There is no final conclusion yet, so it won’t be discussed here. However, what is certain is that in Malaysia, attempted su***de is a crime and comes with possibilities of imprisonment for the act. The question is, can the existence of this criminal law effectively prevent su***de?

- Criminal law has counterproductive effects, people who attempt su***de are afraid to ask for help
Perhaps some people are worried that should the crime of attempted su***de be abolished, some people would take the value of life lightly and choose to end it, but this is not the case. What should be explored is whether the existence of this law can effectively prevent su***de?
According to a 2016 Mishara and Weisstub study where 25 countries that criminalized attempted su***de or failed su***de attempts were included. In comparison with other countries where su***de is not a crime, it was found that 23 of them had no significant increase or decrease in su***de rates. This shows that punishing those who attempt su***de does not help reduce the su***de rate.
Clinical psychotherapist, Liang Yaw Wen pointed out that if attempted su***de is classified as a crime, the person concerned will not dare to ask for help from others, or will strengthen the determination to die. "When attempting to do it, they ensure the success rate and completion rate of things are higher, or for the plan to be completed in a more deadly way."
He also pointed out that according to another study, after the abolition of the crime in some countries, though the su***de rate has increased within five years, this is because when su***de is not a criminalized, su***de attempters step forward to report it, and the government is able to record the statistics. So, if we extend the observation period of this study to 20 years, the su***de rate has not actually increased. Instead, more people are willing to come forward to seek help.

- Should Malaysia acquit su***de attempts?
Another argument is that, if the state abolishes the penal code section 309 and allow individuals to freely control the survival of their own lives, will it lead to disguised propaganda of su***de?
Liang denied this view. He emphasized that for people who are desperate to die, what they want to end is not the life itself, but the pain.
"All the pain, problems, and unsolvable things they have experienced, if the crime of attempted su***de is abolished today, they will be more likely to seek help. Professionals can guide them in finding solutions, see a change of perspective, and help them find a way out.

- Considering the existence of “Attempt to commit su***de” law based on three cases in Malaysia
In December 2019, a 38-year-old disabled man from Terengganu, Mohamad Sani Isa, was charged in court for attempting to commit su***de at his home. After being convicted, he was sentenced to 7 months in prison which raised opposition from the legal professionals and the Human Rights Association, and aroused public doubts about the crime of attempted su***de.
Besides the law, is there any way to reduce the su***de rate?
As for ways to reduce su***de rate, Liang pointed out that from a personal point of view, people can start by caring for people around them. One out of every three su***de cases has revealed that they have suicidal thoughts. Therefore, the public can learn how to recognize su***de signs, "When people around us propose suicidal thoughts, we should take it seriously."
One way to understand the signs of su***de is to conduct "gatekeeper" training. Professionals can train the public or frontline personnel to recognize the signs of su***de in others. "One of the simple procedures is 'First question, Second respond, and third refer.' We can take the initiative to understand their situation and respond in a non-judgmental way, then refer them to the right people to help according to their circumstances.

In addition, he explained that according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, when the country implements a su***de registration system, su***des can be monitored regularly to effectively prevent su***de cases. This can only be practiced after su***de is decriminalized to avoid those who attempted su***de to face a second penalty.
The government can also strengthen the degree of cooperation between various agencies. For example, on the "World Su***de Prevention Day" on September 10 each year, the theme of "World Su***de Prevention Day" fully demonstrates that all agencies have full cooperation to allow the government to conduct more detailed research and judgment to reduce the su***de rate.
Not only that, the government can also raise the threshold for obtaining high-risk su***de tools, including drugs and pesticides, so that the public will not have the opportunity to use them for wrong purposes.
He also said that the Ministry of Health has now provided mental and psychological related auxiliary medical services in 60 government hospitals, 1,001 medical clinics, and 25 mental health community centers across the country."

联合国曾于2019年估计，全世界每年有80万人死于自杀，相等于每40秒就有一个人因不堪在生活中遭遇的困难、压力，或疾病，而选择结束自己的生命。自杀未遂者，更是比自杀死亡人数高出20多倍。人是否有权利结束自己的性命，向来备受争议……

生而为人，是否可结束自己的性命，向来备受争议，宗教、文学、哲学、科学领域各有论调，至今没有定论，这里姑且不谈。但可以肯定的是，在马来西亚，企图自杀或自杀未遂，是一项罪名，甚至可能因此承受牢狱之灾。但这项刑法的存在，真的能有效预防自杀吗？

🌻 刑法造成反效果 企图自杀者不敢求助

或许有者担忧，一旦废除企图自杀罪，是否将造成人们轻视自身生命，更易寻短，可实情并非如此，更应探讨的是，这罪行的存在，是否能有效阻止自杀率？

据2016年Mishara and Weisstub研究，将25个将企图自杀或自杀未遂列为罪行的国家列为研究对象，将之与其他自杀无罪的国家相比，发现其中23个国家本身的自杀率并未明显增减。由此可见，惩罚自杀未遂者，并无助于降低自杀率。

临床心理治疗师梁耀文则指出，若是将企图自杀行为归类为犯罪，反而造成当事者不敢向他人求助，或是加强了必死的决心，“如果真的去做这件事情，会确保进行这件事的成功率和完成率更高，或用更致命的方式去完成计划。”

他也指出，根据另项研究，部分国家在废除企图自杀罪后，虽然记载在案的五年内自杀率增加了，可这是因为在自杀不是罪的情况下，自杀未遂者敢将自杀行为上报，让政府记录统计。若是将研究年份范围拉长至20年来观察，其实自杀率并没有提升，反而更多人愿意出面寻求协助。

🌻 马来西亚是否该将企图自杀无罪化？

此外，有另一论点则是，若是国家废除了企图自杀法，让个人自由掌握自己生命的存亡，会否造成变相鼓吹自杀？

梁耀文则否认这项观点，他强调，若是一心求死者，他们想要结束的并不是生命本身，而是痛苦。

“他们所经历的痛苦、难题、解决不了的事情，如果今天把企图自杀罪废除后，就可以提升他们求助的可能性，让专业人士陪伴他们，找出解决方法，看见事件的另一面，让他们找到出路。”

🌻 从马来西亚三宗案例 审思企图自杀法的存在

2019年12月，一名来自登嘉楼的38岁残疾男子Mohamad Sani Isa，因为企图在住家自杀而被控上法庭，罪成后被判监禁7个月，引起律师界与人权协会的反对声浪，也唤起了大众对于企图自杀罪的质疑。

站在法律之外 还有什么方法可以减低自杀率？

至于该如何减低自杀率，梁耀文指出，若从个人角度出发，大众可以从关怀身边朋友做起，每3位自杀者里，就有1位曾透露自杀念头。因此，大众可以学习如何辨别自杀征兆，“或当身边人向我们提出自杀想法时，我们应认真看待处理。”

若要认识自杀征兆，方法之一是进行“守门人”培训，让专业人士培训大众或前线人员，让他们足以辨识他人的自杀前兆。“其中一个简单的程序就是‘一问、二应、三转介’，当我们主动了解他的情况，再以不批判的方式回应，了解他的需求后，根据他的需求转介去真正能帮助他的地方。”

此外，他解说，根据世界卫生组织的建议，当国家落实自杀人数登记系统后，可定期监测自杀情况，有效预防自杀案件发生。惟这得在将自杀除罪化后，才可实践，未免自杀未遂者面对二度惩罚。

政府也可加强各机构之间的配合度，就如每年9月10日的“世界预防自杀日”，将“共同行动，预防自杀”作为主题，充分表明了各机构单位得充分合作，才能让政府进行更详细的研究与判断，降低自杀率。

不仅如此，政府也可将取得高风险自杀工具的门槛提高，包括药物、农药等，不让大众有机会用在错误用途上。

他也说，卫生部目前已经在全国60间政府医院、1001间医疗诊所、25间精神健康社区中心，为大众提供精神与心理相关的辅助医疗服务。

The idea for《家想梦》Home Will Dream EP came about early 2019, when I spoke with the producer, Dae Kim about laying out a story I wanted to share. Dae's ability to capture the mood and emotions of each chapter beautifully in his music provided a space that helped me work through the healing process.

有一种累，叫心累。好像背着重重的包袱不停的在赶路，一起床就追着时间跑，忙到忘了当初为什么开始这段路程。一想到要出门见人的恐惧感，可以导致全身麻木的抗议而久久爬不起床。
要超越这障碍，没有一夜之间的奇迹，必须天天磨练骨气。幸运的话，有贵人扶持相助，要不然，就靠自己了，你就是自己的贵人。
受了多大的打击，生活还是要继续。在往梦想朝去的路途上，经历过的潮起潮落，造就了今天的自己。我不再逃避。

There is a kind of tiredness, like emotional exhaustion. It feels like being on the road with a heavy burden, chasing after time the moment you get out of bed, being so overwhelmed that the original intention of your journey is forgotten.
The fear of leaving the house and meeting people can lead to numbness, as the body protests from getting out of bed for extended periods of time.
There is no overnight miracle to surpass this obstacle, it's an everyday effort to get into character. If you are lucky, you may get unexpected help from a noble someone, otherwise, you just got to rely on yourself, you are your noble someone.
Despite hardships, life goes on. The ups and downs I have conquered along the journey to pursue my passion have made me who I am today. I no longer run from it.

想念一个人，会是一辈子的事。想说的话，怎么让他听见？

失去最亲的家人，这空缺让人疯狂。 少有人知，哥哥患上躁狂症，也见了心理医生咨询辅导。躁郁症导致人的心理与精神失调，在狂躁和忧郁两极忐忑徘徊。一度跌落低谷无法自拔，人就这样走了。
他的离开，把我认识的一切颠覆了。这时候的崩溃，心里徘徊在伤心和愤怒之间，对哥哥，对家人，对社会，对世界，有好多不满。 用一条生命，换来的珍惜，这代价太高。
从无法接受，到坦然面对，不停寻问过去，到处探听故事，最终就只是想证明，他确实存在过。

Missing someone is a lifelong matter. How can he hear what I wish to say?

When a close family member passes on, there's an emptiness that drives you crazy. Not known to many, my brother suffered from Bipolar Disorder. He had been seeing a psychiatrist and going for counselling sessions. Bipolar disorder causes a shift in a person's mood, energy level and psychological system, fluctuating between mania and depression. It hit rock bottom.
His departure subverted everything I knew. At that moment, my heart hovered between sadness and anger, there was a lot of dissatisfaction with my brother, my family, the society, and everything that is. The price of revelation in exchange of one's life is too high to pay.
From struggling to accept the reality, I kept retracing my steps and asking questions, listening to his stories. In the end, I just wanted to prove that he did exist.

"家，是初心发起之地。"
"Home is where the heart blooms."

我出生在亚罗士打，吉打州。家里有六个成员，爸爸，妈妈，哥哥，弟弟，妹妹，和我。
在同一个空间长大，父母兄弟姐妹之间，有玩得笑成一团的时候，也有吵到天翻地覆的时候，可以在一分钟内和好，也可以冷战长时间不说话，最终血浓于水，心里向往的那份爱是甩不掉的。
高中后到国外生活多年，我常常检讨着十年前回家时的那份初心，是不是在哪个时候做了不同的选择，可以保住那份美好。
走遍了天涯海角，有一份快乐，停留在那时光，心安即是家。

I was born in Alor Setar, Kedah. There are six members in my family, dad, mom, big bro, younger bro, baby sis, and me.
Growing up in the same space, between parents, siblings, there would be times with so much fun and laughter, and times when arguments would turned the house upside down. There could be reconciliation within minutes, or there could be long periods of cold war with no talking. In the end, blood is thicker than water, the yearning for love in our hearts can't be forsaken.
I lived abroad for some years after graduating from high school, and often refer to my original intention of returning home ten years ago, how would things be now if different choices were made?
As we travel the world, there is a piece of happiness where time stops, home is where our heart is.

2017年「动态度音樂節」其中演出單位，
她也是離開我們的本地塗鴉師Champ Teh 之親妹。
經歷十年痛失哥哥的心理建設，
以 「家」、想」、「夢」，三首主題曲目，
交出了與過去暫別的細碟專輯。

Dae Kim 參與編曲製作，
配合Supa Mojo軟性饒舌的部份Minimal氛圍編制，
