"Brother!" His boisterous voice booms through the bar as if just thinking about him summoned him to my side.
I reluctantly drag my eyes away from her and meet my brother's gaze as he walks up the ramp and approaches my booth. My brother is everything that I'm not. He's all easy swagger, leather, trench coats, and gaudy jewelry. His long wind and sea tangled hair frames his ruggedly handsome face, a long mustache and beard hide half of it and yet, he emotes every emotion so clearly. His face is always an open book to his thoughts and feelings. His smile can charm even the angriest and coldest of beasts, well, besides me. And where my eyes are blue from the coldest, deepest, and scariest parts of the ocean, his are the warm, turquoise of the Caribbean.
"Well, aren't you going to give your big brother a proper welcome?" He asks, as he holds his arms out to the side, expecting a warm embrace.
I look up at him, no doubt a mix of boredom and irritation on my face. "Not likely."
"Hmmmm," he grumbles, deep in his chest.
And then he's gripping the sides of the solid oak table, lifting it. I hear the table groan in protest, but he easily dislodges the bolts that anchor the table into the fu***ng concrete, as if it was held down by nothing more than cheap glue.

"Did you not hear her when she told you to let her go?" My voice comes out calm, hiding the raging inferno inside of me.
Then again, I never have to raise my voice to threaten anyone. My actions do that for me. Case in point, I push the burning ember of the cigarette into his sensitive skin, right at the corner of his eye. I hear the hiss and smell of burning skin and it fu***ng delights me.
"The next time you so much as LOOK at her, I will light a hundred ci******es and put them out in each of your fu***ng eyes. Do you understand?"

I don't know why I constantly try to find my validation through the attention of toxic men. Scratch that, I DO know why, but I continue to ignore my gut instinct. I ignore what brutal experience has taught me, which is, everyone lies. Everyone is selfish.
EVERYONE LEAVES.
Even knowing this, having it proven again and again, I choose to hold on to the hope that maybe, just MAYBE, the next one will be different.
The next one WILL be different.
And so, here I am again.
Sitting across from a pair of deep, chocolate brown eyes, that seem to appraise me and worship me under their roaming, appreciate gaze. Desperately hoping and praying that there's not something camouflaged and lurking behind that teasing smile and those sexy dimples. No, this one WILL be different.

I feel his warm breath against my ear, “I know you were watching me in the shower. But do you know that I was imagining slipping inside of you as I touched myself?”
He trails one single finger down my arm and I swear it’s as if he touched me right between the legs instead.

So, yesterday was quite a day!!! I managed to get MY book, Awaken, into 2 local bookstores! This fantastic local bookstore pictured, is Organic Books on Central and Carlisle.
These bookstores both work with local authors often and were SO nice and easy to work with!
Seeing my book on the shelf was such an extraordinary feeling! Now, I'm not sure how my book will compare along side so many fabulous books, but nonetheless, every little bit of exposure helps!
I'm hopeful! And proud! And truly humbled. 💚
