Orthophytum gurkenii

$20 each
7 available
In 2” pots
Raised from seed

Orthophytum 'gurkenii' is a terrestrial bromeliad species from Brazil. A lovely and unusual species which could be described as the favourite species of the genus Orthophytum for collectors. The thick leaves are chocolate-brown with broken silver-white zig-zag banding. Resembling a Cryptanthus in general shape, but larger and more arching, it produces a very tall green inflorescence with burr-like floral bracts and small plantlets. Pups are also produces from the base of the plant like a typical bromeliad.

Nananthus vittatus

$20 each
6 available
In 2” pots
Raised from seed

Nananthus vittatus are easy and rewarding plants. They grow in winter and typically go dormant in summer. This species usually "wakes up" in mid-fall. Water minimally in summer, only when the plant starts shrivelling. They need full sun or light shade during the other seasons. It has a gorgeous, thick, root system and the plant can be progressively raised from the substrate so that some of the roots can be seen. The "caudex" shape of the raised roots is impressive and attractive. They also tend to grow more "heads" when they are raised.

Raised from seed

Delosperma napiforme (synonym Mestoklema macrorrhizum) is a dwarf succulent endemic to the island of La Réunion. Assorted Haworthia
‘Glass Leaf Succulents’

$10-20 each, depending on species
See individual pic comments for pricing and availability
In 2” pots
Raised from seed

Haworthia are small, attractive, rosette forming succulents ideal for indoor cultivation. Many of the most popular Haworthia species display the fenestrate leaf (glass or window-leaf) adaptation. The translucent 'glassy' windowed apices allow light into the internal plant body rich in chlorophyll-bearing layers of cells, thereby providing a much larger photosynthesizing area and at the same time helping the plant avoid excessive water loss.

Pseudolithos migiurtinus
‘Rock or Toad Plant’

$40 each
3 available
In 2” pots
Raised from seed

Pseudolithos migiurtinus is a rare endemic from dry regions of eastern Somalia. This is one of the most unusual members of the Asclepiadaceae or milkweed family, with highly succulent stems patterned with irregular, rather warty looking, hexagonal tubercles (podaria) giving this plant the appearance of a curious, rough stone. The stems are initially spherical, but eventually become more egg-shaped or even columnar as the plant ages. They bear 4 rows of small, truncated stems, from which the flower buds emerge. The flowers are small, starfish-shaped and deep maroon in color.

Petopentia natalensis
‘Propeller Vine’

$20 each
8 available
In 3” pots
Raised from seed

Petopentia natalensis is a unique caudiciform from South Africa. Prefers a rich soil, lots of water and sun in the growing season. The attractive leaves have bright green uppers and deep purple lowers and the caudex can grow at least to 30 centimetres in diameter, the vines reaching seven metres or more. It is an excellent climbing plant in culture as it stands the extremes of heat and cold better than most plants, it can quickly become overwhelming, it is better to install support for very tall stems and is a very interesting plant when in bloom.

Dorstenia foetida
‘Shield Flower’

$20 each
13 available
In 2” pots
Raised from seed harvested on site.

Dorstenia foetida is very unique, stem succulent which may be branched or not. This is a variable species, especially in shape and size of leaves, length of petioles and stipules. It has a thick, dark green- to mahogany-colored conical trunk, that will grow to 15 centimeters in diameter and 30-40 centimeters in height, older parts often with peeling bark. The stem has prominent round scars of petioles, inflorescences and stipules in a spiral pattern. The flower-like structures are actually fruiting bodies called hypanthodium, a te****le rimmed, disc shaped structure that gives these plants their common name.

Welcome!

If you’ve ever bought a plant, taken it home and then thought ‘hmm I could use another one of those’, you’re not alone!
The addiction is real and it’s impossible to stop once you’ve started.
It was the same for me and now I have more than just a handful of plants. My love is for unique succulents and cacti, with most of my focus on:

Caudiciforms
Asclepiads
Euphorbia
Haworthia

I grow the majority of my plants from seed but also propagate from leaves and cuttings regularly. As my personal collection grows, I inevitably end up with too many of one species from time to time. This space is dedicated to those extras...and the new homes they need to find.
I will post available plants by species and keep the available tally updated in each post so you always know exactly what is available for you to take home.

You are welcome to message with any questions you have.

Happy Planting Everyone!
