The last days of summer are here, which means it's time to cut back on the length of time your irrigation system runs for.

If you have an automated system speak to your garden service and ask them to re-adjust the timer according to your gardens needs.

Alternatively, give me a ring and I would be happy to assist.

This might seem like a weird time to be talking about irrigation, but in many parts of the country, it’s still dry, and there’s never a bad time to talk about getting ready for the next gardening season. Watering your garden the smart way will save you a lot of water (and money on the water bill), help out the environment, and ensure that your garden is as gorgeous and healthy as it can be. Since some of that planning involves not just how and when you irrigate but what you plant, this little primer should help you make smart choices this winter and spring.

Many gardeners overwater, which leads to massive waste across the country every year as well as problems like runoff and plant disease. Watering isn’t just a matter of indiscriminately spraying with a hose, but rather one of thinking about how much water plants need, and when.

04/07/2017

"All the leaves are brown, and the skies are grey.."
Winter is here and with it potential blocked gutters. Don't forget to clean or replace your broken gutters and downpipes to avoid costly blockages.

19/06/2017

In addition to irrigation systems, we supply and install tanks, pumps, grey and rain water collection systems. This includes borehole equiping with submersible pump and tank/s.

Micro Jet and Drip Irrigation has many advantages. (besides saving water)

For instance, did you know that you require less digging for pipe installation than conventional irrigation systems? This will save you time/or money on labour costs. Speaking of costs, the set up can also cost up to 40% less!

if you have an existing controller or timer, a micro jet or drip irrigation system can easily be joined to it, therefore saving you more money.

A Drip Irrigation System is ideal for vegetable gardens as no water comes into direct contact with the leaves or stems as the water is aimed directly at the roots where it is needed. This is also best suited in windy conditions, eliminating water being blown away from your plants.

Furthermore, this system is perfect for poor water pressure areas too, as a drip irrigation system requires less pressure than conventional irrigation systems.

For any advice on your existing irrigation system - whether its a golf course or a set of balcony pot plants, give Paul a call on 073 843 5048 for a free consultation.

Make every day a water day! Did you know that a leaking tap can waste up to 8000 litres of water a month! That's about 80 baths down the drain!!

20/03/2017

The sound of a dripping tap is amplified in our current climate. Every drop is precious, so please check all taps for leaks and 9/10 you'll find it just needs a washer replaced!

Cape's dam levels drop further, more water restrictions on the cards

If we don't start minimising our water consumption in Plett, we too will be facing heavy restrictions. Check your pipes for leaks and test your irrigation system to make sure the water is going where needed.

kfm.co.za City of Cape Town has confirmed that dam levels in the Western Cape are sitting at 40.4%, a reduction of two percent per week.

12/11/2016

Water saving tip for the week:

Maintain your sprinklers and irrigation. If you have irrigation on timers, watch it run. Fix broken sprinkler heads and pipes and make sure that spray patterns are directed where they are intended.
Consider using a drip irrigation system or something similar to save even more water. Explore using indigenous plants that can survive with minimal irrigation (once established).

19/10/2016

Water saving tip of the week;
Wash full laundry or dish loads. Wait until you have a full load of clothes before you wash a load. Don't wash a load of clothes just because you want to wear the same pair of pants the next day! When washing your clothes be sure to use the economy mode and this will save you both water and electricity! This goes for dishwashers, too. Load the dishwasher full but not overly full.
Don't wash your dishes before you wash your dishes. Do scrape larger pieces of food waste into the trash or compost. If your dishes don't get clean without pre-rinsing, make sure you're loading properly, that your dishwasher is in good repair, and that you're using an effective dishwasher detergent.
Dishwashers, especially modern, efficient ones, can actually save water compared to washing by hand, since they pump the same water around inside the tub. If you're ready for a new dishwasher, check both energy and water usage before you buy.
Choose your next washing machine wisely, too. Front loaders use far less water than top loaders.
Choose laundry detergents that rinse cleanly and don't require an extra rinse.

We INSTALL new dishwasher and washing machine points too!
