Last night out on the tiles with before the arrival of the new baby 👶🏼 in a few days time. It had all the trademarks of a good night out: bucket loads of wine, ci**rs, yummy food, casino, and back in bed for 4am after falling asleep in an Uber 🤪🤦‍♂️🤣 now back to being an adult and fathering another little monkey 🙉

Nursery walks in the morning with Rupert can definitely be stressful, but more often than not they’re a really nice relaxing part of my day. Same for the pick up, just something so nice about not being on my phone, being out in the fresh air and talking, even if just for a few minutes each day!

Exciting times ahead (👶🏼), but still as happy as can be in the now!

This lad is way too comfortable at a pub barstool for a 3 year old. And I love it! 😍 😂

The annual dining, opera, ci**rs and casino excursion with Chris and Chris.

Saw the Ukrainian National Opera perform Madama Butterly and it was a phenomenal performance! 🎭

Fantastic 77km ride with Chris the other day. Over 1km of cold autumnal climbs, stunning views, sausage rolls, steak sandwiches (courtesy of - legend!) and nice wine. God I love the countryside around Bristol, Bath, Stroud and South Wales.

This was a great event, a great road trip and a great excuse to keep myself fit and continue striving for more!

Man, this golf was crazy I tells you 🤪 ⛳️

Great evening with these legends in Alvor. Mini golf, cocktails, Mexican food, more cocktails, karaoke, more more cocktails, disgraceful end of night eating and no sleep! Sign me up for more of the same 🙌

Top walk with this lad the other week. He’s rubbish at navigation, but we’ll forgive him as his choice of pub is on point. Beautiful place Shear Water!

Food festival, river paddling and village chilling with the Heron Goffs 😊 Great weekend

and I’m not sure how you both managed to not only match one another on day 1 but also match our kids, and I’m not sure how me and didn’t even accomplish a photo together haha.

Great weekend! So nice to meet Seb 😍

More weekend bbq life and country walks. Easy to forget that they actually did happen this year a few times the way the weather’s been!

Drinky times with (the other half of ) are always fun. This was a great day of meandering, good food, art galleries and betterer and olderer wines! … and casino to top it off.

you are the love of my life. Thank you for everything. I’m so grateful for all the years of our lives we’ve shared together, and sorry I don’t post often enough on instagram to recognise this on the right dates lol 😂 xx “love love love love love” (Bruce Almighty style).

10 year wedding anniversary in Sardinia, hard to believe we’ve been married 10 years, doesn’t seem anywhere like that time. Even more nuts to think we’ve been together for 16 years haha. Go us !!

Banging day at the opera last week with Chris and Chris. The WNO’s bash at The Magic Flute would have been better named The Disappointing Recorder, but you can’t win them all. That aside, the whole day was fab, amazing company, mediocre banter, phenomenal food, dribble-worthy wine!

A very relaxing time spent at Bluestone - kids had a blast, so did the adults :-)

I’m not a hot weather kinda guy, but damn it I need to get back to summer vibes.

Not been myself for the past 3 months or so. Mental health has been a real issue for me recently, and it just sort of creeps up on you.

Today has been a really good day for me, and I thought I’d post about it as a sort of celebration that I felt less crappy, and felt a sense of relief that I started to recognise the inner Matthew again, scratching at the surface.

I know this probably doesn’t mark the end of this rough patch I’m experiencing, but hey, all about the small wins. Plus it’d be God awful if I posted about horrific days all the time.

But seriously, I think that anxiety, depression and all other negative feelings in between and around these, are more prominent in our lives than we realise.

So if you are struggling, please don’t think that you’re alone in feeling this way. Certainly your own feelings and circumstances are going to be unique, and no less poignant for knowing that others struggle.

But, just be aware that there are tonnes of people, books, methodologies and medical snacks that are there to mitigate the crippling effects and help you slowly, but surely get back to a place where you can be happy, motivated and calm again.

I just want to thank all my family and close friends for the amazing love, patience, support and advice they’ve surrounded me with…not just recently, of course, but always.

I have no doubt that I’ll still have days where I’m proper mental and CBA to do anything, but I accept that. At least I know I’m starting to claw my way back into the light again.

Be grateful for your people, your life and the simple things that make you happy 🥰

You’re not alone!
