Hey Psi Chi members! Join your local chapter at UWF to give back to our community this holiday season as we volunteer at OnBikes of Pensacola’s Winter Bike Build! This year, Psi Chi will be there at the Pensacola Bay Center from 3:30-5:30 P.M., November 19th to build bikes for the children of Pensacola!

Hey there Psychology friends, faculty, and Psi Chi members! UWF Psi Chi is very excited to announce that we’re going to be having a special guest speaker at next week’s meeting joining us through Zoom: Dr. Stephen Chew!

Dr. Chew is a renowned cognitive psychologist who has dedicated himself to the scholarship of teaching and education. He currently is a professor of psychology at Sanford University.

In anticipation of this event, our next meeting will be in Building 58A, Room 106 to give us some more room for this special event!

Are you interested in learning more about our on-campus labs? Are you curious to know what happens behind the scenes with research? Are you wanting to learn more about how to get more involved? Now’s your chance!

UWF Psi Chi is hosting a tour of the UWF Psychology Labs October 18th from 3:00-4:30. We’ll be meeting in the Student Lounge before heading over to the labs! We hope to see you there!

Join us at our bi-weekly member meeting tomorrow for QPR Training provided through UWF Psi Chi! We’ll be in our usual meeting room in Building 41, Room 134, from 6:15-7:15 P.M.

Su***de prevention training and awareness is crucial, and in recognizing that September was Su***de Awareness Month, we are excited to offer this opportunity to our members to gain training through the QPR Institute.

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! In fact, today is National Teacher Day.

Recognized at first in 1953 because of an address by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt to Congress, this week has a long history! Despite her address, this week of recognition wouldn’t become a national holiday until 1980, and it was a day in March.

Four years later in 1984 it was moved to the first week of May, and was turned into a whole week of recognition for our teachers everywhere.

So this week, give your teachers, professors, educators, and those supporting you in your furthered education a special thank you.

March is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it is symbolized by a green ribbon.

Even though it has only been recognized nationally for 74 years now, there are many years to come for more recognition and more efforts in the fight against mental health stigma.

This month, be sure reach out to friends, family, and take care of yourselves as an act of solidarity and self care. Each of us plays a part in understanding and supporting one another.

These bikes went to children in Families First Care Program, the Boys and Girls Club, Escambia County Schools, the Ronald McDonald House, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida. We love being able to help our community!

Psi Chi leadership is so excited to be a part of Bingo-for-Beginners hosted by the ! Undergraduate research has contributed greatly to many of our officers’ and our members’ leadership and professional development skills. If you are interested in undergraduate research in any field, do not miss this event on Wednesday at 11am!
