My final two LIVE classes!!!!
🌸Thursday 16th ~ power flow ~ expect to flow, sweat and power through traditional yoga postures with a twist!
🌸Thursday 23rd ~ slow flow ~ a class for all bodies, experiences, ages... a gentle class flowing with the breath, helping to find some inner peace.
Thank you so much to everyone that's joined me over the past few months, those who've made incredibly generous donations without having to, regular class attendees that have donated their class passes, and new yogis that have fallen in love with yoga!!
It wasn't long ago that I was absolutely dreading becoming an online yoga teacher but the wonderful feedback and enthusiasm from you all has made it worth it!!
Hope to see you for one of my final classes 🧘🏼♀️

This Thursday I'll be leading the first half of the ashtanga primary series! Join me for a dynamic and energising class, flowing with the breath through the wonderfully crafted sequence that the primary series is.
6pm on Facebook Live through the group!
For anyone that hasn't done ashtanga before, it's a fairly challenging practice that works all muscles and systems of the body, taking a repetitive but meditative approach to yoga. I'd recommend only for those that have done a bit of yoga before :)
This week ~ all levels vinyasa
Thursday 6pm!
Join the group "Ebb and Flow Yoga Online Classes" to find the live-stream (along with a nice little library of my previous classes!)
This week we'll take a traditional vinyasa approach with a flow based around sun salutations... see you there! 😊
A bit of a sad announcement...
For anyone that knows me, you'll know I have two huge passions in life... yoga and marine mammals. I've spent the past year of my life dedicating myself to the practice of yoga, both my own self practice and learning to share it with others. But now, after three years of saying "I'm going to start my masters in September" the current state of the world has told me to stop putting it off and this year, is the year.
Towards the end of summer I'll be moving to St Andrews, Scotland, to pursue a masters in marine mammal science and spend some time chasing a dream that has been with me since I was a kid. Hopefully I'll find some equally wonderful humans to teach up there too, but I honestly can't tell you all enough how much I'll miss each and every person that has attended my classes as I started out here in Buxton. From the friends and family that have been waiting for me to start up classes, to those that I had never met before you walked through the doors, the three amigos that made me laugh every Tuesday evening (you know who you are 😉) to all those that came along with their mum's (I loved this!!), those that had no idea what they were doing but gave it their all anyway... I'll miss you all so much and can't thank you enough for starting or progressing your yoga journey with me.
For now, I will continue online classes until August. These will be a mix of live and some pre-recorded and I'm hoping to bring as much variety as possible, from 20 minute pranayama & meditation, 30 minute sweaty power flows, 60 minute slow flow for all. I am unsure what the situation will look like from September onwards but if studios are still closed and people want to continue practicing online I'll be happy to keep providing classes.
If you enjoy the classes and are in a position to donate, please do as it's much appreciated and helps to keep the classes going. A lot more time goes into preparing then than just the minutes seen on the screen. I intend to keep the classes up once I move so they will remain there to use as you please!
Wether you came to class every week pre-lockdown or have just begun your practice online, thank you so much for joining me and I do hope you keep exploring the wonderful world of yoga when I leave!
Sending you all so much positive energy,
Emma 🕉
A little note on class passes!
I know some of you will still have passes with classes left to claim. Of course if you want to, please ask for a refund as obviously I understand online classes aren't what the passes were bought for. However, if you would like to convert those classes to online donations, I would be super grateful AND you get to keep practising with me!! Online classes are of course donation based so if for example you want to contribute your remaining 2 stamps to 3 online classes, that's absolutely fine, just drop me a message. 😊
(A little plea from a self employed yoga teacher that's bad at business - the very first passes I gave out didn't have the 2 month expiry date written on the back - completely my fault. But, if your pass would've expired before mid March when in-person classes ended, please consider this before asking for a refund. You are of course more than welcome to re-kindle your yoga practice with me online!! 😊)
Something a little different this week!
🤸🏼♀️Thursday 6pm ~ power flow ~ a dynamic and challenging class, more intense than my usual dynamic vinyasa classes but that bit shorter! We'll work with the breath moving through some challenging and repeated asanas for a full body workout.
🧘🏼♀️Saturday 10am ~ slow flow ~ as usual, a grounding and gentle practice suitable for all levels. Still the mind whilst you work through 60 mins of asana and breathwork.
There are now 15 classes in the video section of my online group! Feel free to join, if you can, please donate at: PayPal.me/emmalongdenyoga

Good evening everyone!
From tomorrow onwards, my classes will come live within the group below. Hopefully this will create more of a private community and those wishing to will be able to keep up a little better with class updates.
Dynamic vinyasa is on tomorrow evening as usual at 6pm.
I will be leading the first half of the ashtanga primary series at 10am on Saturday!!! This is a fairly dynamic practice despite being called the primary series. If you're completely new to yoga I'd recommend taking a few other classes before ashtanga. I hope to see some of you there to begin your weekend!

I'm thinking of leading an ashtanga practice live on Facebook. This would be suited to those that have done ashtanga before or have done vinyasa yoga as it is fairly intense and fast paced.
What time would suit people best?
I'm thinking a weekend day so Saturday or Sunday?
Around 10am?
This week or next?
Let me know if you're interested and when would be best for you! :)
1 hour until my 'Yoga for All' class! Every body welcome.
Feel free to stay in your pyjamas and bring your coffee to the mat, gather a pile of pillows for the second half of the class where we'll get comfy in some more restorative poses and take a short pranayama and meditation ☺

Here's your 1 hour warning until tonight's beginner slow flow yoga class live in Facebook at 6pm!!
If you come to the page around 6, the video should pop up when I go live.
If you don't have a mat, grab a blanket or a towel or a carpet/lawn will suffice! Maybe a pillow or two also to really relax into the postures :)
A little sun salutation flow go recognise the changing of the seasons and longer days 🌅
Sun salutation tutorial - Surya namaskara - Ebb and Flow Yoga
"Feel the relationship between movement and breath when practicing Surya Namaskara... Weaving these two actions together creates a tapestry of grace and stability both physically as well as within the subtle realms of our consciousness. Find the rhythm in your breath and allow the body to respond to it."
David Swenson.
A little late, but still in time for sun rise 🌅
I put together this sun salutation (Surya namaskara) tutorial to help guide you through the different variations. Sun salutations are a key component of classes in most styles of yoga and are a perfect way to begin that relationship between movement and breath.
Traditionally, sun salutations are performed every morning to greet the sun and thank it for rising. Despite all troubles and torment in life, we can rely on the sun to rise each and every day.
With each new dawn, we are one day closer to normality.

This week's classes will come to you live on Facebook!!
🕉Tuesday at 6pm, join me for a slow flow vinyasa class, perfect for beginners. I'll break down the postures and take you slowly through a gentle flow.
🕉Thursday at 6pm, a dynamic and energising vinyasa flow class, anyone is welcome that's up for something more challenging.
If you don't have a mat, grab a blanket or a towel, or take your phone/laptop/tablet into the garden and yoga on the grass!
I hope to see some of you there! ☺
Overwhelmed by the amaaaazing reaction to my first online class! So glad you all enjoyed it!!! Hopefully it bought you all a bit of calm and 30 mins where your mind wasn't wandering to the all the negativity currently in the world! 💗💗
My current plan is to release two online classes a week, one 'slow flow' more suitable for beginners or anyone wanting a more chilled pace! These will have a little more tuition and alignment cues thrown in.
I'll also release a 'dynamic flow' class which as I'm sure you can tell, will be faster and more physically challenging.
Alongside this, I'll throw in some tutorials and posture breakdowns. Do let me know if there's anything you've always been desperate to try.... headstand? Arm balance? Wheels? Splits? Happy to tackle anything people are interested in :)
A special little vid coming Sunday to welcome British Summer Time!! 🌅
Thanks again for all the support,

The lovely people at Chris Hill Community Sports are providing some amazing online content to help keep your children entertained.
I made a little video for them, guiding you through sun salutations, perfect for any little ones that need a little movement!
Sun salutations are deeply rooted in ancient yoga tradition, performed every morning to great the sun and welcome a new day. Despite all the chaos and uncertainty in the world right now, one thing that is garuanteed is that the sun will rise every morning, providing a new day and new opportunities. With each rising of the sun, we know that we are one day closer to normality.

CHCS Challenge - Emma Yoga (Parent & Child) The sun will come out today and tomorrow and the next day. Join Emma as she takes you though the sun salutation
It's here!!!! My first ever online yoga class! 🤪
If you asked me a couple of weeks ago what I thought of online classes, it would be that I'd never be filming myself leading one. It turns out a lot can change in a short space of time. Just as I had to learn to lead people through a physical class, I'm now learning to pace myself through a virtual one (sorry if it's a little speedy, and my minor filming glitches ;)). Although it's a pretty gentle flow, I didn't realise how fast I move when I don't have a load of eyes staring me down and I'm talking you all through it, so it's best suited to those that have been to my classes before. However, if you're new to yoga, give it a go! There's nothing too physically challenging in there 😋
Of course, being a yoga teacher, my income from my usual classes is now non-existent. So, if you enjoy the classes, and you're in a financial position to do so, please make a contribution in either of the following ways. Whether it's a couple of pounds every time you take a class, or a larger one-off contribution.
~Paypal: [email protected]
~Bank transfer: 04-00-04, 09812267
I understand that these are incredibly challenging times for some of us and some people may be without an income for an unknown length of time, therefore, there's absolutely no obligation to pay for any of these classes. All I hope is that it brings you a little calm and peace of mind, wherever you may be.
Drop a comment to let me know what you think of the class. If you have any requests for particular classes, mini workshops or break-downs of more complex postures - I'm totally open to ideas.
I hope you enjoy, stay safe!

Gentle vinyasa flow - 30 mins - Ebb and Flow Yoga Hello and welcome to Ebb and Flow Yoga. My name is Emma and I have created these videos to bring my classes to you, wherever you may be, during the coronavir...
It's been an extremely difficult few days for anyone that's self employed or runs their own business, mainly due to the lack of clear guidance and rules laid out by our government.
My mind has been going back and forth all day with what to do regarding classes. I've come to the difficult decision to suspend all classes until the end of March, when I will re-assess the situation.
Hopefully I will be able to get a few online classes running for those that are interested!
I've already received so many wonderfully supportive messages from students and it's really meant a lot to hear what my classes mean to you. I hope to see you all soon but in the mean time, take good care of yourselves and those around you.
Thank you for all the support,
Emma x
My classes for this week are still going ahead as normal.
I have been thinking about it carefully over the past few days and I'm sure we are all fully aware of the situation at present and are also capable of assessing the risk to ourselves and can therefore make a sensible decision about attending or not. If you are in the slightest bit unwell with a cough, high temperature, or similar, if you fall under the vulnerable category, or if you have vulnerable people that you are in close contact with, please stay at home. Take good care of yourselves and those around you and I will hope to see you again soon, healthy and well, in the not so distant future.
As said in the earlier post, you are welcome to bring your own mat. Anyone that borrows a mat will be kindly asked to wipe it down at the end of the session. There will be no hands on adjustments. We are lucky with the beautiful studio we have at the school, having so much room to spread out in our own space.
For me personally, yoga is a way to still my mind whilst also having a physical workout, which in turn releases oxcytocin and endorphins and has such a profound impact on my mental well-being too. To take this away from people who are willing to attend would really sadden me, so I shall keep teaching for as long as I can.
I will be constantly re-assessing the situation and any updates will be posted here on my page.
Thank you for your understanding and hopefully I will see some of you tonight.
🙂
All of my classes will still be running as normal!

The corona virus is causing havoc across the UK with more and more mass events and sporting fixtures being cancelled, just today I read that London Marathon is postponed to October and all elite level football is off until early April.
The independently owned gym community are working tirelessly to clean and sanitise their facilities, even more so than usual, to protect their members and staff, however there is genuine concern of a government lockdown heading towards the fitness industry.
My ask of you is that you stand by your independent gym and DO NOT CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP if this happens! Even a small number of cancellations can be crippling to an independent gym owner, if you’re anything like me you’ll have often gone a couple of weeks without training so please look at this in the same manner, leave your DD in place, buy that monthly pass, grab those class credits to keep your gym in business and they will no doubt thank you in the long run!

About Me
Hi, I’m Emma. Welcome to Ebb and Flow Yoga!
I have been practicing yoga for a few years now. I dipped in and out before finding an Ashtanga class whilst at university in Plymouth by complete accident. I had no idea what Ashtanga was but wanted to delve deeper into yoga so started going every week. I found Ashtanga to be totally transformational, there were incredible changes in both my mental and physical health which I hadn’t found in anything else.
Having spent the past year back in my hometown of Buxton, my yoga practice has largely become self-practice at home as ashtanga classes are few and far between. As well as practicing ashtanga, I took time to really listen to my own body and would flow wherever it took me - developing a vinyasa-style practice. I therefore decided to progress my knowledge and develop the skills necessary to share yoga with everyone and headed to India to undertake 200 hours of yoga teacher training. I trained in multi-styles for a few reasons. 1) I loved ashtanga and vinyasa so I wanted to study them, 2) I was aware I hadn’t really committed to any other styles so wanted to open my mind and try everything, and 3) I want to bring yoga to as many different people as possible and I’m aware that not everyone wants a dynamic and fast-paced ashtanga or vinyasa class.
"Hatha to watch the mind, Ashtanga and Vinyasa to control the mind." One of my teachers said this on my TTC and I couldn't agree more! I have a mind that wanders so easily and I find that Ashtanga and Vinyasa focus my mind, and provide a sense of freedom and weightlessness that I haven’t found in other styles. Both are dynamic and energetic styles that can be tailored to suit people of all ages and abilities through various modifications; and both flow through postures, moving with the breath. Ashtanga follows a strict sequence of postures that has been created to work every part of the body, the repetitive sequence of Ashtanga is great to see your progress, and really switch off and listen to your body. Vinyasa is very creative and classes will be different every week, many postures are incorporated that aren’t found in other styles.
