Sometimes I’m asked what it’s like sharing my story of sobriety with the world, and let me tell you, it’s been a rollercoaster of discovery and growth. 🎢✨
If you’re shy about sharing, here’s a few things I’ve learned:
1️⃣ Vulnerability is a Superpower: Turns out, baring your soul isn’t weakness; it’s a strength you never knew you had. When I opened up about my sobriety, it created connections and support I never imagined. 💪❤️
2️⃣ Messy is the New Perfect: Life isn’t a highlight reel, and that’s more than okay. Being real about the struggles and victories in my journey made it relatable and sparked conversations that matter. 🎤🌟
3️⃣ Community is Everything: You know that whole “it takes a village” thing? It’s legit. Sharing my sobriety story brought a tribe of amazing people into my life. Together, we laugh, cry, and navigate this crazy adventure. 🌐🤝
4️⃣ Get Comfortable with the Cringeworthy : Growth happens outside our comfort zones, right? Sharing my story forced me out of the cozy cocoon, and wow, the transformation was worth every squirm. 🐛🦋
5️⃣ We’re Stronger Together: Turns out, we’re not alone in our struggles. By sharing my sobriety journey, I found a chorus of voices echoing similar experiences. We’re a force when we stand united. 🌈💕
So there you have it, my friends – a snapshot of the wild ride I’ve been on by sharing my sobriety journey. Grateful for the lessons, the connections, and the messy, beautiful life that unfolds when we let our stories be heard. 🙌💖

2️⃣ Set Boundaries: Saying ‘no’ is a gift to yourself. 🚫✨ Prioritize what truly brings you joy and skip the rest.

This holiday season I’m recommending some of my favorite memoirs of 2023 that we’ve covered in the Boozeless bookclub!
Most recently, we read “Quitter” by Erica C. Barnett, and let me tell you, this memoir is an absolute rollercoaster of raw honesty and resilience. 🎢 From the gripping tales of drinking and relapse to the triumphant journey of recovery, Barnett’s storytelling will hit you right in the feels. 💔🌈 It’s now officially part of my 2023 favorites, offering a profound reminder that change is messy but oh-so-worth-it.

As we approach the holiday season, a time often filled with festive gatherings and delicious meals, it's crucial to highlight the importance of discussing sensitive topics, especially with our children. 🌟✨
Amid the joy and celebration, there exists an opportunity to cultivate awareness and understanding about issues like eating disorders.
My book, 'Sister Seeks a Spiritual Life,' delicately navigates these important conversations for young minds. Through its pages, children are introduced to the significance of mental and emotional well-being, fostering empathy and resilience. In a world where societal pressures can impact self-perception, it's essential to equip our kids with the language and understanding to navigate these challenges.
The holidays can be a particularly challenging time for those dealing with or recovering from eating disorders. By addressing these topics with sensitivity, we create a safe space for dialogue and support. 'Sister Seeks a Spiritual Life' not only tells a captivating story but also serves as a tool for parents, educators, and caregivers to broach these crucial conversations.
Let's use this season as an opportunity to instill empathy and compassion in the hearts of our children. How are you approaching these conversations with your little ones during the holidays? Share your thoughts and experiences below. 💙📚 "

📚✨ Let's talk about the absolute artistry of crafting a story! I mean, it's not just about the wild adventure and plot twists, but also about knowing when to say, 'That's a wrap!' Writing the end of a story is like deciding on the perfect icing for your cake. 🍰🖌️
In the world of storytelling, we face a delightful conundrum: where should we leave our beloved characters and narratives? Should we wrap it all up neatly with a bow, give a tantalizing glimpse of the future, or maybe pose a lingering question that keeps readers up at night? It's like having a backstage pass to an incredible, creative rollercoaster ride!
Now, here's the juicy part: Have you ever found yourself in a writerly quandary when it comes to choosing the grand finale? What influences your choice for the perfect ending.📝✍️
Happy 21st birthday to my Alex!!!! Had to have a friend bring a camera and an overnight bag to the hospital (in exchange for my 15 month old daughter Ashley), as my sweet Alex showed up on the scene unexpectedly 2 weeks early. He’s been punctual ever since; reliable AF…the person you want by your aide during an emergency. He’s fun to dream with, run things by, and of course he is the constant computer crisis technician. 🤣😂 He’s the best driver…going on year 3 as a valet at the Lodge at St. Edwards. He’s hilarious, and excellent at showing up and supporting others. As a student, he is a massively hard worker - pretty much crushing this college thing at SPU! 🙂 HBD, Precious Heart Alex! XOXO You inspire me every day, I love you so incredibly much, and I can’t wait to see how life unfolds for you!!! ❤️❤️❤️🎉🎉🎊🎊
