β˜• International tea day β˜•

If there was ever a reason to sip on a cup of tea and gobble down some moreish macarons...then today is the day! If you don't like tea, well then substitute that with a coffee, I won't tell πŸ˜‰

According to Wikipedia December the 15th celebrates the tea producing countries like Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Vietnam, Malawi, Kenya to name few. It has been celebrated since 2005 to raise awareness on the impact on workers and growers alike with links to requests to support fair trade.

If you are looking for another opportunity to drink tea, you could wait until May 21. This day aims to raise awareness on the long history, cultural associations and economic significance of tea around the world.

Do you have a favourite tea? My staple is Rooibos, what's yours?

Have you put your πŸŽ„Christmas tree up yet or baked any Christmas cookies πŸͺπŸͺ?

I fondly remember going to my great grandparents, Nonna and Grand Tony around Christmas time...exactly 12 days before Christmas the pine tree would make its way inside from its potted home around the side of the house where it spent the majority of the year.

My Nonna would dress the branches in the most beautiful glass decorations that sparkled in the twinkling lights, while Grand Tony took us to the store room under the stairs to select our own can of exotic fizzy flavour beverage that he collected on his overseas travels and tell us stories of all the things he had seen.

Exactly 12 days after Christmas, the tree was undressed and taken back to its spot in the garden. As a child I always thought that the tree wasn't in the house for nearly long enough...then again the supermarkets start to promoting Christmas in September before πŸŽƒ Halloween πŸŽƒ goodies have hit the shelves. Could we please celebrate one event at a time...rant over πŸ˜…

What traditions do you and your family have around Christmas?

🌏 LET THAT SINK IN 🌎
I recently heard this on a podcasts that I listen to and it really made me stop and think.

We really need to do better. Not just say we WANT TO do better, but ACTUALLY do better. Peter Gash sounds like a great bloke with a big heart and a phenomenal team. Lady Elliot Island has firmly been placed on the bucket πŸͺ£ list!

Saving the wold in one fell swoop is unrealistic, however the accumulation of small and highly achievable actions will make a difference. Perhaps it's best to start with your household as the epicentre and work from there. The longer you stick with it, the bigger your contribution.

I started my journey with using mesh veggie bags and staying clear of single use plastic entirely. Next up was making more responsible choices everytime I needed to replenish household items like detergents or cosmetics. There is still so much I can do and need to do 😊

What are you doing in your everyday routine to make a difference to the world we live in?

And just for fun...the origins of one fell swoop... allegedy and rather entertaining nonetheless

🌸 Simple + Sophisticated Retreat 🌸

A few clever and colourful selections along with wood tones turn this room from ordinary to inviting in a flash!

The subtle grey walls in something similar to Vintage Linen from will contrast beautifully with the white skirting, framed mirror and ceiling.

A neutral rug is strategically placed to ground the room and add sprigs of green to finish off the space.

TOP TIP: splurge on a great white set of bed linen and accessorize with seasonal pillows and throws. Adding your standard sleeping pillows to this composition will add more layers and make it feel more plush.
