Why I changed my name to Bliss :

Bliss has always been such a beautiful word to me. Even the sound of it just induces a serene, calm joy.

Like many people, my birth name never really resonated with me. It always felt like a label that didn’t fit but would just have to do. It’s a fine name, but it’s never been for me.

Growing up I was always looking up and thinking of names. Baby names for future children possibly? Names for characters in stories? Names are fascinating and have alway peaked my interest.

In college I briefly went by the name Auburn, inspired by my natural red hair color, an attribute I always loved about myself. But it didn’t mean much else, and again, after a while, I felt it no longer fit.

This past summer I briefly went by my middle name, Blaire, a name I often wish was chosen for my first name. But again, it didn’t fit. It didn’t feel like me.

Finding my name has thus far been a game of trial and error. I’m shedding my identity once again and reclaiming it under the name Bliss: a constant reminder of the contentedness, happiness, and joy that surrounds all of us. May your name give you bliss as well 💜

When I was in 1st grade my teacher assigned us a project of making a drawing to enter into the county fair. I remember the day of the project because by the end of the day all the other students had left and I was still in the classroom putting the finishing touches on mine. When my dad had come to pick me up my teacher apologized and explained that I was so focused on finishing my project that I refused to meet him at our pickup spot until I was done. I now believe I was in a flow state that I didn’t want interrupted.

The fair was an exciting time for my hometown every year. It brought novelty and fun to an otherwise dull place. That year I probably had fun riding the kiddie rides and eating the fair foods, but I honestly don’t remember those parts. What I remember is going with my grandparents to the art exhibits and browsing through all the entries until we came to mine.

Approaching the drawing I noticed it had a blue ribbon, which my grandpa proudly explained meant that I had gotten first place in my category. He further explained that it meant it was the best, most impressive drawing and instilled a sense of pride in my that still remains today.

After the fair we got to take home our projects and my grandpa made a point to put the drawing in a nice frame and display it with the accompanying blue ribbon. It’s remained in my childhood bedroom ever since and is a reminder of the pride my grandpa instilled in me and my artistic abilities at a young age.

Art and creative expression has been a passion and an outlet for me from a young age. I take pride in what I create without taking myself too seriously and I always seek to improve upon my work.

At present I’m creating designs that I hope will resonate with the right people and help them garner a new sense of self expression. My dream is to build upon this and create a lifestyle brand that shares the importance of self expression and creativity in many aspects of life. I call it Aesthetic Alchemy.

Why you should always bet on yourself :

Betting on yourself means putting all your faith in your ability to follow thru and accomplish or manifest your intentions. It means trusting that you can overcome any challenges or set backs on the way.

Being resolute with your intentions allows no room for doubt and wavering which would inevitably hold you back.

When you bet on yourself you hold yourself accountable. You stay true to your word. You burn the boats and abandon plan B.

It sounds more simple than it is… but it’s a total mindset shift.

The key is that you have to REALLY, truly desire what it is you’re going after. Otherwise theres room for being wishy-washy. This can be a blessing and a curse.

On the one hand your intentions may not manifest… but on the other, this could be because you’re hearts not in it, because it wasn’t meant for you, or it’s not ultimately aligned with you and your path.

When I bet on myself I make things happen. I quit smoking ci******es to prove to myself and others that I could. I moved across the country by trusting the process. I land job interviews when I know the position is perfect for me at the time.
