Humans - the only animal powerful enough to destroy the planet, and the only ones
dumb enough to
do it

What is it with humans? You set off explosives that pollute the environment and terrify wildlife, and you call it entertainment!

There's sewage in the rivers and there's plastic in the seas
You're building on the habitats and cutting down the trees
Spraying toxic pesticides that kills the flies and bees
Burning oil and gas ups global warming by degrees.
Blinded by the media, you can't tell want from need
Feeding corporate billionaires who're endless in their greed
Chasing dreams of 'lifestyle' but to its true cost numb
Yet with human arrogance you think that nature's dumb!

Rich man Rishi gets to run the show,
So good boy Doggerel would like to know
What he'll offer that is fresh and new
When he's the source of Austerity Two?

This year it's not just us animals and birds who could be terrified by fireworks. Refugees from Ukraine and elsewhere who have been bombed or shelled don't need to hear random explosions - please just go to an organised display and stop youngsters from being able to get them and set them off in the streets.

A cynical old dog am I,
With fame I am not fussed,
But all these recent happenings
Make speaking out a must.

We saw the toxic in-fighting
Though it was blue on blue,
Where both sides flexed their voices
To say what they would do

If they could lead the country.
But here’s where it gets sour,
For both were in the government,
So always had the power.

Now Liz has won the victory,
And like a bird that’s plucked
And trussed and oven ready,
I fear that we’re all stucked!

It's International Dog Day and I guess it's down to us pups to save the world. Just going to sharpen my teeth...
