The depths to which greedy humans will stoop is breathtaking. Please sign to stop octopus farming.
This is a fundraiser for animal rescue by my good friend, Cristina Sardinha. I've known her practically since I first moved here to Salinas, and she is tireless in her efforts to feed, sterilize, and provide medical care to the thousands of street animals that depend on the kindness of strangers to survive. Please, can you help? If you are out of the country of Ecuador, you can still help by simply donating. Please DM me for details. The tickets are $2 a piece.
If you are looking to spend time in Ecuador for an extended vacation, or for a seasonal home - check this out.
We have a beautiful property, Casas Pacíficos, on the beach of Punta Carnero, which is part of the city of Salinas.
We are currently looking for a long term tenant in Casa Azul or Casa Verde on our 1/2 acre property which is one block from a beautiful beach.
One can catch the bus by walking just about 100 meters from our door. It takes you directly to the Paseo Shopping Mall in about 15 minutes, and from there, you can catch buses or taxis pretty well anywhere you'd like to go.
Ours is an ideal location for someone who values peace and quiet.
Kate and I live on the property, so we are there to attend to maintenance issues, and... we are generally very quiet.
During the week, the beach is virtually empty although the weekends are a little busier in high season.
The casitas are approximately 600 sq. ft. bungalows that are fully furnished (including kitchen appliances, dishes, etc.). They have one bedroom, the kitchen, living area and bathroom with shower.
Air conditioned, hot water, UV treated and triple filtered water (no need to buy bottled water).
6 month lease - 350.00
1 year lease - 300.00
No pets, as we have 8 rescue cats.
Rent includes water, and internet. Tenant pays electricity.
Tenant has access to pool and outside seating areas and if you like to garden, there is plenty of room for one if you desire.
Laundry facilities are available on site for a small fee.
Send me a direct message for any additional information.
My inbox is overflowing.

In case you ever have to read your writing aloud.
One of the best parts of being a writer of non-fiction, self-help books, is how much you LEARN! Writing The Healthy Brain series has given me the opportunity to interact with amazing experts in many fields, especially music.
On the Brain Health Matters podcast this past week, I was able to interview a brilliant music teacher, composer, and creator of healing frequencies, Del Hungerford.
She shared new-to-me information about The Resurrection Code, the difference between 440 and 432 tuning, and how music for EMDR can enhance that therapy.
I hope you have an opportunity to enjoy her interview! It's available on podcast services EVERYWHERE and of course on YouTube. I'm putting the links in the comments below.
Enjoy!

When I released The Vegan Brain back in December, I had no idea how much it would impact so many people. It's very exciting to be able to share the physical, emotional, mental AND spiritual benefits of a whole foods vegan diet. Thanks to the hundreds of people who have purchased the books so far. And I think the animals would thank you, too.https://www.amazon.com/Vegan-Brain-Compassionate-Healthier-Healthy-ebook/dp/B09PHQ24RX

Tomorrow's the big day for the release of our anthology, "Thriving Beyond Crisis: Conversations with Resilient Entrepreneurs". As we were preparing for the release of the book, we all interviewed each other, and this is my interview conducted by Vanessa Ciano Saracino. I thought it would be fun to share it again. https://youtu.be/znkVEtehWDE
Kate Kunkel Interviewed by Vanessa Saracino for "Thriving Beyond Crisis"
I'm so excited to share that over the last several months I have been working through my own fear to share my story of how I handled my personal diagnosis of an auto-immune disease that came at the same time as my mom's diagnosis of dementia. Learning how to heal myself led to a journey of discovery and the hope of healing for others who are concerned about the terrible disease that robs you of your YOU one tiny bite at a time. Soon, my story will be published in a book along with several other courageous women! Stay tuned for details..."
Wow…. This is amazing… the power of love and caring.
Great interview sharing many good tips about brain and mental health.
XZRS: Kate Kunkel - Don't Let the Memories Fade (Dementia and Alzheimers) When her mother was diagnosed with dementia in 2010, Kate set out on a quest to discover why this happened, how she could help her mother and ensure that she herself would not succumb to this terrible syndrome. What she learned inspired her to embark on what she considers the most important mission....
Sometimes it is painful, but writing from the heart is really the only thing we can do at times like this.
Mother's Day on our Minds This weekend will be the first Mother’s Day after our Mom passed away with dementia on December 29th.
Whoever would have thought what was expected to be a 6-month project and a simple little Kindle eBook would turn into this monumental work? It just goes to show you that, when you get passionate about an idea or project, you have to go where it takes you. So - while I had hoped to have my book on Alzheimer's prevention out last November, it now looks more like April. But that's okay - because it has the potential to change many lives for the better. "The No-Nonsense Guide to Saving Your Brain" will offer step-by-step, research-backed ways to prevent Alzheimer's and Dementia with Music, Mind and Matter. I'm getting excited, even though sometimes I feel like I'm drowning in information.
Balance - that elusive ideal that we all search for, is more important than we could have ever dreamed possible. https://katekunkel.com/blog/f/balance-an-essential-key-to-a-healthy-brain
Balance: An Essential Key to a Healthy Brain Popular culture tells us that we must keep our minds active to keep our memories intact and our brains healthy. In fact, many studies have been done to demonstrate that keeping the brain active throughout life is a good ...
Prevent Alzheimer's and Dementia with Music, Mind and Matter is being delayed a bit due to my own mother's final battle with Alzheimer's. But I'm not slowing down on research. This came across my desk today, and I feel it's important for everyone to read, especially if you care for or have any influence on those who do look after young children. https://www.greenmedinfo.health/blog/too-much-screen-time-harms-brain-development1
Too Much Screen Time Harms Brain Development Watching more than two hours of screens a day may harm the structural integrity of white matter in preschoolers' brains, with implications for language and literacy skills. Children under 2 years shouldn't use screens, but even those 2 and over may face lifelong consequences of too much screen time....

This is a very important part of my book, Music, Mind and Matter. "Beyond just auditory processing, musical training can also help delay cognitive decline associated with aging. Some of the most promising research positions music as an effective way to stave off dementia. Studies out of Emory University find that even if musicians stop playing as they age, the neurological restructuring that occurred when they were kids helps them perform better on "object-naming, visuospatial memory and rapid mental processing and flexibility" tests than others who never played. The study authors add, though, that musicians had to play for at least 10 years to enjoy these effects. Hopefully you stuck with it long enough." https://www.mic.com/articles/110628/13-scientific-studies-prove-music-lessons-were-the-best-thing-your-parents-did-for-you?utm_term=share&fbclid=IwAR0CnGLAl4dYFoxVuFnVuTseRPlbH_4hSWJl0hBzjJCLGjw41_nIyqBMzl4
