Posted • Alright, LA. I’m coming for ya! I’m extremely proud to announce The Guest has been selected for the LA International Horror Film Festival! It’s a dream to think my first short film has made it around the world and now lands in LA, the home of Western cinema. Many amazing genre filmmakers have called LA home, so I’m humbled to be screened in their neighbourhood.

It’s indeed a rare thing for an independent artist to have a song of theirs played on air more than once (usually with an underlying intent of promoting an album or an upcoming show).
So to be given this kind of ongoing exposure is a real gift and one that we very humbly appreciate and are incredibly thankful for! 🙏😇

As any DIY artist will tell you, it can be pretty exhausting trying to keep the publicity and marketing momentum going after you’ve released a new album. Its times like these that it’s so important to be kind to yourself, take a break and go and treat yourself to an amazing breakfast and hit that reset button…. as often as you need to!!

had so much fun at last night chatting with Roger Holdsworth on the Global Village program, about our latest release ‘Transience’ - a collaboration album featuring 9 of Australia’s most creatively diverse musicians and improvisers.
We’re very lucky here in Melbourne to have such a thriving network of community radio programs and programmers that always go above and beyond to make room for the music that (let’s face it) will never end up on commercial radio!
So whether you’re an artist/band or simply a lover of music that defies (and detests!!) the very notion that music must fit inside that cardboard flavoured commercial box in order for it to be valued and given air time, then I strongly encourage you to support your favourite community radio station or program, by becoming a subscriber and/or making an annual donation.
We should all be doing our bit (whenever we can) to keep the veins of community radio pumping loud and proud!!

Posted • I’m extremely proud to announce The Guest has been nominated as a semi-finalist at the Prague Underground Film Festival! The city of Prague, along with the Czech people, have a culture rich history of folklore and custom. Many Western popular mythologies and genre productions have drawn inspiration from this region of the world, so being considered for a place in this festival is a true honour.

Beyond the Lake are thrilled to be a part of the ‘relaxed performance’ series at this year.
This is a beautifully curated program that caters to humans (both young and old) that may be a little more sensitive to abrupt sounds or changes in stage lighting, or simply find that going out to a concert in the evening is a challenge.

This is Mark’s first ever attempt at making a short film, let alone entering into short film festivals all over the world! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
We had so much fun creating the score for this film (which is something Nick and I have never attempted together before either 🤯🎶)

Last week Beyond the Lake had the ecstatic pleasure of recording with Carl Pannuzzo, one of our industry’s finest multi instrumentalist improvisers (and one of the nicest souls you’ll ever meet!), as part of the next album we’re currently embarking upon, with the greatest of thanks and support from
We spent the day recording at the newly renovated Cross Street Band Hall with the legendary .noy.547 at the helm (fun fact… we’re actually the first project to record in this newly finished space! 🎶💥)
The sounds we created together were nothing short of blissful. We look forward to sharing some sound bites with you in the coming days ahead, along with some other exciting news to share!
