Dam Site Run
The beauty of the fall colors at Lake Bloomington in late October awaits you. www.DamSiteRun.com
Having three identical loops gives the opportunity to have a unique award and to recognize Maggie Nelson of Bloomington. Her three loop times were all within 4 seconds (wow) and she earns herself a free entry into the 2024 Dam Site Run. Honorable mention to Jesse Wyse (7 seconds) and Reid Thomas (9 seconds). Congratulations Maggie.
To those who had fun today, dreamed big, ran, volunteered, walked, cheered, sherpa'd, supported, or even liked this page and our little race... Thank you. Results :
Twas the night before the Dam Site Run.... GOOD LUCK and please have fun.
Making sure every single bottle is clean and ready to go for you!
Thank you to graphics extraordinaire Holly-Rae Van Hoof for her design and logo work on this year's race. She helped refresh the look this year, and I personally love how she used the shape of Lake Bloomington in a camo effect. And she'll be toeing the line with you on Sunday.
Got the course marked. And this young buck at Mile 3 approves.
SOLD OUT! We've opened some spots if you just wanna run, but swag is not guaranteed.
It's race week!!! Everything you might want to know:
Dam Site Run The Dam Site Run is on Sunday October 22, 2023. It includes the following events: Dam Site Half Marathon and Entry into Sold Out Race - Comes with NO SWAG.
Ever order hundreds of Smoothies!? A Smoothie King smoothie will be waiting for you at the finish line. In keeping with our theme, they will be served in biodegradable foam cups. And instead of a plastic straw, you'll each get a custom reusable portable collapsible stainless steel straw to take home with you.
Record turnout! There's already more people registered than we've ever had on race day in any previous year. In order to ensure enough swag to go around, registration is limited and is approaching a sell out.
As you know, we are committing to using no single use plastics at this year's race. Instead of a plastic bottle of water or energy drink, you will instead cross the finish line and get a very nice custom designed Insulated Polar Bottle! You'll be able to fill it with your choice of drink.
Wow, runners are a generous bunch. $446 optionally donated by runners. As promised, It's Race Time, Inc. is matching all donations in July. Meaning the Ecology Action Center will receive a donation for almost $900 from July alone. Be proud, if you are reading this you are surrounding yourself with good humans.
Registration Open! First 50 people to register can run the best Half Marathon around for as low as $24.99. Anyone who registers in July and donates to the Ecology Action Center, the race timing company, It's Race Time, Inc. will match your donation, doubling your donation! (Up to $1000).
Dam Site Run The Dam Site Run is on Sunday October 22, 2023.
Let's do this! Oh, wait until you see what's in store for year #4. Registration opens Monday. Got a steal of a price for the first week for those who get in early. Good times and good swag. And some pretty significant environmentally focused goals this year. What if we didn't use hundreds of single use plastic bottles? And instead you got a custom designed insulated Polar Bottle at the finish line that you could fill with your drink of choice and take home with you? See you Monday morning when registration opens....

The unique nature of the Dam Site Run enables a unique award each year. We award the runner who's 3 loops are the most consistent (least separation between slowest and fastest loops) a free entry into the race the following year. That honor goes to Nathan Fredman this year! Only 13 seconds separated his fastest (2nd loop) and slowest (last) loops. Nathan was consistent... and fast....

2. Aimee Dziekan, Bloomington IL
3. Erin Furimsky, Bloomington IL

So, has anyone checked the weather forecast for Sunday yet?
As we marked the course this afternoon, the deer came out to say HI and give their approval at several points. And the fall colors are starting to show. You are in for a scenic run Sunday.
Final race week reminders have been emailed to all participants, and posted on the website! It's almost here.....

Convenient drive through Pickup is scheduled for early Saturday afternoon (12:45 - 2:00) for those who are interested. You'll get your bib, socks, and medals (if you requested one). If you can't make it, pickup will also be available on race morning. https://www.damsiterun.com/Race/DamSite/Page/Pickup

A bias towards frequenting small businesses will again leave you benefiting this year. After crossing the line, among your traditional finish line snacks, you'll be rewarded with a sweet treat from The Chocolatier based right here in Bloomington. What is it..... you'll find out after 13.1 miles! See you in a couple weeks.
Welcome to October... race month! Yippee. Things are coming together nicely. Could use some volunteers for race day. Anyone who volunteers will earn themselves a pair of the sweet custom running socks for being so generous with their time. Looking for Water Station, Finish Line, and a Lead Bike. Thank you for considering.
Dam Site Run The Dam Site Run is on Sunday October 23, 2022.
SWAG UPDATE! I'll bet you don't have a pair of running socks with Lake Bloomington stitched in them, do you? No supply chain issues here, we got on the ball early and scored custom designed running socks for all registered participants this year! (Well hopefully all, we had to guess how many... don't be registering at the last minute and leave it to chance.) Look at the attention to detail, even fun stuff on the bottom. These sweet custom designed running socks will have you looking snazzy on race day, and well past. 31 days until race day.
So while you have been training for race day, what have we been up to? First of all, registration is going well... ahead of 2021! All permits have been approved. Would you believe our course requires approvals and permits from the City of Bloomington, McLean Country, Hudson Township, and Money Creek? Thankfully they all support the event. Got insurance taken care, sign of the times, right!? We got some tremendous help on fun designs for your running socks, and those have been ordered to ensure they are built and ready for you on race day. And we just finished up the medal design, and we'll be placing that order in the next couple weeks. All's well, hope your training is going well!
Registration is LIVE! For as low as $29.99. Inflation WHAT?
High prices here, inflation there.... Not at the Dam Site Run! For a limited time, you can run the best Half Marathon around for only $39.99. Lake Run Club Members receive $10 off. That's right, where else will you find a Half Marathon this awesome under 30 bucks.
(This sweet pricing is only until the end of July, or until 50 registrations are received.)
