I love this birth affirmation!
Your pelvis is the vaginal birth door in which baby moves through during labour and birth. Reminding yourself to release and relax your pelvic floor muscles will allow for more space and opening for baby 👏
Having a better understanding of how your pelvic floor muscles work and how to use them during labour and birth can really help…especially during the pushing stage.
Head on over to my website (www.saskatoonbirthdoula.com) where I’ve listed my favourite local resources, and book in to have your pelvic floor assessed PRIOR to birth. You will receive lots of information and exercises to help you learn to relax your pelvic floor to optimize your pelvic space. Most of us have really tight or unbalanced pelvic floor muscles and we don’t even know it.
Seeing a chiropractor prenatally is another great way to help with pelvic alignment!
Preparing for a new baby to join your family? Let me help ease the overwhelm that can come with welcoming a new baby into the world.

As a birth doula, I am limited in how many families I can support in the birth space each month….but with custom prenatal education I can connect with so many more families which I LOVE 💛
Please share with any family with a little one on the way.
Full testimonial below. It’s the last sentence that does it for me 💛
“I could feel Lindsay's calm and confident presence as soon as she entered the room. It made me feel calm and confident as well.
Lindsay was an absolute blessing to have during labour. She recommended numerous birthing positions, made sure I was hydrated and comfortable, and kept us informed of next steps. Before and after delivery she was only ever a text away and was an invaluable resource for us. It feels like Lindsay is now a part of our family!”

A beautiful smile and a sweet fresh baby to warm you up on this chilly Saskatchewan day 💛
This picture is everything.
This woman has feared birth for as long as she can remember. On our initial discovery call she shared her fear of the birthing process, and how it came to be. My heart broke for her in that moment. All she knew was that birth was a terrible thing to experience, and something to be feared. I was so thankful she asked me to join her support team. I would do what I could to help her change the script around birth and have a positive experience.
Sadly, many women grow up with a negative portrayal of what birth will be like.
We need to do better as a society.
We need to be empowering women to step into their strength. We need to be sharing our stories and experiences to normalize the birthing process. We need to speak about birth positively, and break down the fearful dialogue that so often accompanies birth experiences.
I am beyond proud of this woman. She worked very hard to rewire her thinking and change her mindset. Was she still scared? Of course, but she stepped into her strength, armed herself with support and faced her fears head on.
She is a brave warrior.
It is not easy to work through and over come such deeply embedded fears. This photo really is everything. I’m so happy she captured this beautiful moment in time with her daughter safely in her arms. It represents so much more for her 💛
There are moments when you just need a good pep talk from someone who believes in you💛
On the night you were born the moon smiled with such wonder that the stars peeked in to see you and the night wind whispered “Life will never be the same” ~ Nancy Tillman
Your mama prepared for a better birth experience. She armed herself with knowledge and support and had the birth she envisioned (at an extra speedy pace). She is so powerful and strong. You are loved beyond measure sweet boy.
Welcome to the world little one 💛
Every birth experience is unique.
No two stories are ever the same, but each and every one of them powerfully illustrates the warrior strength of mothers. Stories also cultivate connections between all mamas and mamas-to-be.
Sharing your story allows you time to reflect on your birth experience and hold space for all the feelings that come up as you begin to process..after all, childbirth is one of the most transformative events in your life. Even if you don’t feel comfortable sharing your story with the world, still taking time to write it out can be an empowering and healing exercise.
I have created a space on my website for birth experiences to be shared. If you would like to submit yours please PM me and I’ll send you the link.
Side note: I wish I would of wrote my 3 birth stories down. It is hard for me to remember all those precious moments, especially my first birth 9 years ago. Writing your story is a way to always remember the day you met your baby 💛
He is here 💛
I see so many emotions in this photo. Relief. Peace. Gratitude. Love. Exhaustion. Content.
What do you see?
Partners play such an important role even before baby comes into the world. Their love and care for the mother during pregnancy contributes greatly to the baby’s well-being as well.
This proud new father snuggles his daughter for the first time. He has been preparing for her arrival well before he became a father.
I just love when partners educate themselves on labour and birth and how to be the best possible support for the mother 💛
“Dreams really do come true. Ours came wrapped in baby blue”
With a definite exciting TSN turning point, you were eager to meet your mom and dad. Oh the magic that can happen when you can stay relaxed and trust your body and process. You are so loved sweet boy.
Welcome to the world little one 💛
“In this world, she is my world”
Mom and Dad are so happy you are here sweet girl. Through the ups and downs, thoughts of you kept them strong and focused. Your mama faced many of her fears head on, and surrendered to the moments with calm and control.
Welcome to the world little one 💛

Full Testimonial:
“Having Lindsay at my second home birth far exceeded my expectations. I leaned on her for emotional support even though I had family present. Her knowledge combined with experience and wonderful personality made me a confident birther, and I felt very reassured. I would never have a birth without a doula now that I have experienced it! My first home birth I did not have a doula, and looking back I would have benefited greatly to have Lindsay there too.“ ~ Erika

Oh little boy, you are so so loved. You have the most loving supportive family and a fierce tribe of bestie aunties and little friends. Your mom brought you into the world with all her love and strength (if anyone knows her that is a lot).

“Do not hesitate to hire Lindsay - your needs and desires for your birth experience will be 100% supported. As first time parents, we found Lindsay's support and knowledge very helpful in guiding us to the birth that we wanted. While we also researched a ton on our own and informed ourselves of the options, we found it very helpful to be able to discuss our preferences with Lindsay and better understand the pros/cons of the options. Her knowledge of the local practices and procedures was also really helpful in understanding what to expect at the hospital.
Lindsay is prompt at responding to questions and never makes you feel like a question is silly. Lindsay's support throughout the pregnancy was much appreciated. She is very calm and is very balanced in her responses, suggesting when you may need to reach out to your doctor versus what is normal and to be expected. Her sessions are very informative and she takes the time to answer your questions and tailor the material/discussion to your needs. Her presence at the birth was essential to keeping us on our birth plan.
Lindsay was also very accessible in the postpartum, helping in any area that we needed, which was very reassuring, navigating life with a newborn for the first time!”

A beautiful baby and mama moment to get some extra ‘feel good’ dopamine flowing this morning!
No matter how much I say I love you, I always love you more than that.
What a sweet baby girl you are, with an extra bit of birthday frosting (vernix)! Your mom and dad did not rush you at all. The environment was supportive and calm and your mama was in control the entire time. What a boss!
Welcome to the world little one 💛
Birth is a moment in time that will stay with you forever. When you become a mother, every cell in your body is forever changed. How you experience that moment matters and is what you take with you into motherhood. Were you supported? Were you heard and listened too? How did you feel in those moments? This all matters because this is what you will look back on years down the road 💛
Also, this picture makes my ovaries hurt! I love mama and new baby snuggle photos.
This will most certainly be the most loving, gratifying, surprising, hilarious, challenging adventure yet!
Becoming a parent is such a gift. There is no other love that can give you enough energy and strength to wake up night after night to soothe a newborn or patience when your toddler decides to have a tantrum in aisle 5. This is the love that gives you strength to see your child walk through school doors for the first time, have a sleepover at a friends house or move away from home. Nothing quite prepares you for all of the feelings you will feel, but one thing is for sure, the feeling of love is insane and there is no better feeling in the world 💛
Ten little fingers and ten little toes, two little eyes and one little nose.
You certainly kept us on our toes, but mom and dad stayed calm and brave as they finally wrapped you in their arms.
Welcome to the world little one 💙
Feeling all the love today 💛
I really enjoy the opportunity to offer families custom one on-one prenatal education in their homes. As a birth doula, I only have a few openings each month for support. Prenatal education allows me to connect with more families and help them prepare for the arrival of their baby.

This moment.
This is the moment she envisioned.
The moment she prepared for.
The moment she needed, wanted, and prayed for.
This is the moment she worked hard for.
The moment she believed was possible.
This moment is everything to her 💛
You are here, you are here!!
After weeks of prodromal labour it was finally time to meet you. Your mama was so incredibly strong and focused as you quickly entered into her loving arms.
Welcome to the world, sweet boy 💛
Feeling supported is EVERYTHING.
Physical support, emotional support, informational support and psychological support💛
You can not guarantee how your baby will enter the world. BUT feeling supported through your experience can make the difference between a frightening experience and a positive one.
You need to feel safe.
You need to feel secure.
You need to believe in yourself.
You need belief from everyone around you.
You need comfort.
You need love.
You need support.
Miguel’s Birth Story is now up on my blog!

Thank you to mama for sharing Miggy’s birth story with all of us.
Birth stories are truly sacred. What I love most about sharing our stories is that is normalizes all aspects of how birth can unfold. Stories help to reduce fears and they cheer new moms-to-be on with words of reassurance and support 💛
I support the best families, thank you!
I shared my custom prenatal education with this Ontario family. We took our time and we made sure everyone was feeling confident and prepared to welcome their first baby into the world 💛
So much love for this family💛

“Hiring Lindsay was one of our best decisions. She is calm but assertive in her approach, and having her by our side gave us the confidence we needed during labour and delivery. From the small details in our visits to her assistance with our biggest decisions, Lindsay was extremely professional while being caring and compassionate. We definitely recommend her, and we would work with her again in a heartbeat”
Welcome!
Hi, I’m Lindsay Sutherland. The doula behind Saskatoon Birth Doula.
Having a baby is the most exciting, life changing, and overwhelming thing most of us will ever do. But with the right care, support and information you won’t feel so overwhelmed in your experiences. Rather, you will feel empowered and confident.
My husband and I brought 3 babies into the world, and they forever changed our lives. We learned after the birth of our first child that we we lacking the support and care we all needed. We welcomed baby 2 and 3 with a doula by our side, surrounded by support, warmth, and the information we needed to feel empowered and in control. For us having a trusted expert to rely on for re-assurance, guidance, and support during pregnancy, childbirth and afterwards was invaluable. It was the difference between fear and confidence. Calm and overwhelm. Darkness and light.
This is why I became a doula,
