Calendula or otherwise known as Holligold, Bull’s Eyes, Gold bloom and Summer’s bride possesses an abundance of healing and therapeutic qualities.
An interesting fact about this plant is healers in the Middle ages carried calendula as a talisman to protect them from the plague. It was also considered highly effective for allaying gossip.
In India, Calendula is among the most sacred of flowers representing thankfulness, excellence and serenity.
The mysticism of calendula includes:
* Calendula flowers open at sunrise and close at sunset.
* Eating Calendula allows one to see fairy folk.
* A garland of marigold hung at the entryway of a home protects the house and all therein from evil.
* Placing a garland of calendula under your bed brings prophetic dreams
* If your Calendula isn’t open first thing in the morning, expect a storm.
* Calendula was used as one component in amulets believed to protect the bearer from hostile words.
* For the Calendula to be most powerful in spellcraft you must harvest it in full sunlight.
* Scattering calendula on the walkway and stairs to your home on the Day of the Dead allows family spirits to find their way home (Mexico / South Africa).
The healing qualities of calendula are widely celebrated and include…
* Wound healing.
* Relief for dry skin.
* Cures fungal infections.
* Prevents acne.
* Removes dandruff.
* Promotes hair growth.
* Aides oral health.
* Soothes a sore throat.
* Treats inflammation
* Aides digestion
And so much more!
It’s no wonder the mighty calendula is a favourite of Miss Penelope Pete!
The wonderful blessing that was gifted today and gratefully received. My sacred Rowan tree is flowering!
The Rowan tree is regarded as a sacred elder. She represents the fragility of life, birth, motherhood, blood, protection and survival.
Rowan encourages us to listen to the call in our heart even if it involves making a difficult decision. This could mean leaving and starting over. Remember, endings create new beginnings.
In the British Isles the rowan has a long and still popular history in folklore as a tree which protects against witchcraft and enchantment.
The physical characteristics of the tree may have contributed to its protective reputation. Each berry has a tiny five pointed star or pentagram opposite its stalk. The pentagram is an ancient protective symbol.
The rowan encourages us to keep moving in the direction of our soul’s calling. This calling will eventually lead us back to ourselves as one. ♥️

Blessed Lammas my loves!
Today we honour the Goddess as the Harvest Mother. We honour the bounty of the harvest and the seed which drops back into the Earth, down deep and dark, secreted away until the spring when it appears as new growth; the life cycle beginning again.
"The fullness and fulfilment of the present harvest already holds at its very heart the seed of all future harvest".
The Harvest Mother is ripe and full, heavily pregnant as she carries the seed of the new year's Sun God within her.
Marking the midpoint between Summer Solstice and Autumn Equinox, Lammas is a time for celebrating the first harvest. It is also a time for reflection and gratitude as well as time to give back to Mother Earth.
Some simple ways to honour this turning of the Wheel are decorating your altar, baking bread, enjoy a Lammas feast, journalling, creating an offering for Mother Earth, or cleaning up a space in nature.
How will you honour this week of Lammas?!

"Dear reader, allow me to introduce you to a most interesting lady by the name of Miss Penelope Pete.
Miss Penelope Pete was viewed by some as an odd sort of lady. She was the natural possessor of a mane of long, red, wildly curly hair, vivid green eyes that always seemed to be alight with some delicious secret and upon her lips, a smile that was forever ready to burst into laughter and song. Her clothes were as brightly coloured as the many flowers that could be found in her garden. She was fond of huge, straw sun hats and often wore them whilst out of doors. In truth, however, it was not the sum of her appearance that people thought her odd, no my dear reader. You see Miss Penelope Pete was known to talk with her plants...not to her plants, you understand, but with her plants. She could be heard by passers-by, on any given day, asking her plants all sorts of questions...and then listening for an answer! Fancy that!!"
