Ripped up All the old rotting deck surface and fixed all the sagging joist.
Went back on with new 5/4 treated decking

Some knowledge on finishing your deck. Solid stain or paint is a no go when finishing and protecting your decking surface. What happens is the product lays on top and dries rather than soaking in a protecting the wood. This causes many problems when attempting to protect and prolong your decks lifespan. What happens is moisture will get underneath the paint/ solid stain seperating from the board and trapping moisture between.
Solid deck stains are still a stain product but much thicker than normal stain not allowing it to pe*****te properly.

Much of the work I’m called out to look at is because of this very reason. I’ve seen it time and time again, and in most cases people do not
Know better because it is sold as a legitimate “deck stain”

My suggestion is to use lighter stains that are at most semitransparent or thompsons water seal. These products are not as think and allow it to soak in the way a protective product should.

Also waiting until Your treated lumber has had time to dry out is a must! When getting treated lumber from the store it is sold wet (in most cases above 20% moisture content) waiting until the deck is down to about 10-12% is a bare
Minimum in most cases for a stain to adhere right

Another job done and another happy customer! Thanks for looking

4 exterior doors
1 French door
2 storm doors
Removed all the old doors that were painted many times, didn’t shut right and we’re just long out of date and installed all new doors and jambs, new k***s and deadbolts!

Dated doors cause multiple issues for homeowners!
Drafts increase your heating or cooling bill, damaged seals not only let air in but offer a nice little gap for any little critters that decide to come in. Old damaged jambs increase the easy of intruders knocking in your door and coming right on in. Multiple Layers of paint start looking bad, building up, sticking to and damaging your seals.

Not only do new doors look great, they are a must have for many logical reasons

This one was a little different from most others I do!

Customer took care of the demo, plumbing, and is going to do all of the drywall work and finishing. My part in this one was solely the shower.

Tile redi shower base

DensShield tile backer on the walls and floors

Fiberglass taped all the seams and waterproofing on all seams

All natural marble tile looks beautiful and the different sizes break it up just enough to look amazing

Thanks for looking!

Just wrapped this larger project up today!

The posts were in good shape (other than being blue) so we saved those and reframed and finished with 5/4 treated pine.

If composite decks are out of the budget treated pine can be installed and with regular maintenance remain beautiful for years to come! Water seal will leave the deck a natural look and keep it protected year after year

First job after having the our sweet little girl. Everyone is healthy and it’s time to get back at it!

This roof had some pretty heavy damage that needed addressed. Whole clear through, old shingles that were ready to replaced, water damage on the inside.
The customer decided to go with owens corning duration onyx black shingles so we ripped the old off, and replaced the damaged osb

I appreciate everyone reaching out with congratulations on my daughter and everyone’s understanding and respecting my time off to enjoy my first daughter. That being said we are back at it in full force ready to book work for the remainder of ‘24. Those of you who have some projects needing attention feel free to reach out for a free estimate!

Currently scheduling jobs end of July- December for the ‘24 year!

Stand-alone tub finally came in for a bathroom remodel I did last month! Glad to finally have it installed, sad to say the countertop guy has been a total flop… promises 2 week install, it’s now been almost 8. Took a deposit and bailed no return calls or anything. Live and learn I suppose I will not be referring the individual any further.

Photos from Anderson Decks & Remodeling LLC's post 22/02/2024

Some before, during, and after pics of an interesting project we wrapped up yesterday!

This was on a brand new room addition that another chillicothe contractor had done.

7/16 osb no plywood clips on 2’ o/c rafters were already sagging
Valleys not touching with more than 12” gaps filled with metal and plastic
BRAND NEW roof sheathing molding from
Leaks
Valleys cuts awful and rusting
6 screws holding down 4x8 sheets of osb
next to no screws in the entire roof metal (I counted 12)
The list goes on and on with this one, unfortunately these folks were taken advantage of by this “contractor” it really is a shame people are able to get away with this

I came in and removed the roof in its entirety!
- installed 5/8” osb with plywood clips
- additional framing in the valleys and carried the roof over to complete the valley sheathing into one another
-synthetic felt covering and completing protecting entire roof
- 4 skylight install with flashing systems
- metal roof installed and screwed off in a correct manner

Latest bathroom wrapped up for some of the most outstanding people I’ve had the pleasure of working for!

- luxury vinyl Plank flooring purchased through Chillicothe Carpet installed by myself

- tore out the small hall closet and made the rather small shower into a nice 36”x60” tile shower with a custom seat, grab bars, and Ove shower door!

-closet shelves remained the same we just added some new paint for a simple update

-demoed the odd vanity layout and went with a double sink vanity and that added space for a nice large linen cabinet

- removed the outdated “whirlpool bath” tub and will be installing a modern stand alone bathtub if lowes ever decides to ship it 🙄 it’s been over a month

- added all new lighting

Latest custom shower wrapped up today!
60”x48” shower
Hexagon tile shower base
Herringbone niche tile
4x10 subway tile for the walls
Marble seat and curb!
Can’t go wrong with an Ove shower door either!
Moen fixture
They are so nice!
It all came together really well

TileRedi cast shower bases are the way to go these days, personally I think they are the best bang for your buck option when choosing how to go about waterproofing a custom shower
Denshield tile backer is a waterproof product and using a fiberglass mesh tape on the seams adds additional strength and water resistance.
Once the shower is complete I always go back and seal all the grout to complete the waterproofing of the entire area!

Another complete bathroom remodel finished today.

60”x9” floor and shower wall tile
Hexagon shower floor
4”x8” subway tile around the entire bathroom 42” up.

Floating vanity

All black accents

I have recently switched backerboard products to this denshield 1/2” fiberglass board and started taping all seams with fiberglass tape. This adds significant waterproofing capabilities and additional strength to all seams reducing the cracking in corner grout for little additional cost.

When it comes to your shower being watertight and strong, you want to make sure it’s bulletproof. It is an investment that you want to look new for years to come after all!

Yet another custom tile shower install for a customer!
Haven’t done tile on a ceiling for a while but I think it brought it all together nicely

This one was rather simple, an old friend just wanted the shower installed, he is a plumber so everything drain and shower valve is being handled be the homeowner.

I’m not sold on these “self leveling” tile spacers. They seem to only make more work, an experienced contractor does not need these. Seem to be a new age “do it yourself” product. Figured I would give them a shot though. Now I know!

The TileRedi shower bases though are a hit! Saves multiple steps in custom tile shower bases and eliminates the possibility of leaks. The thinset sticks good, relatively easy to install and come in sommany different sizes and shapes, I don’t see the need to ever use old methods unless it’s such a unique shape you just can’t purchase a base and it has to be fully customized

They are coming out with newer shower systems constantly! Some good, some bad. They have even discontinued the hardibacker concrete board, which is a bummer. Thankfully we found enough to do this job. Looks like I’ll be switching products for wall tile. So unfortunately pricing showers will be changing sometime in the near future.

I always tell my customers (and this is true) tile and grout are not “waterproof” products. Sealing the tile and grout in showers is a must!!! And What’s beneath the finished product is what matters! Always go with a qualified contractor when installing tile shower to ensure your product lasts! Water damage is the last thing someone wants to deal with right after spending thousands on a sharp new shower

At the expense of not doing the work myself and making the money I could I did a little searching on this job (wind damage) and found out where this customer recently had a company come in and blow insulation in their walls, they did not nail the siding back on at all. THIS IS WRONG!!! Even though siding locks together it does not stay together if it is not nailed. This company came in and did their job partially. I’m saving this guy quite a bit a change seeing this and pointing it out! Sure I could just fix it and charge the guy and be on my way, but it’s the other companies responsibility. This is why I have trust issues. Probably made 7-8 grand doing this job and left it half done.

Custom 4’x6’ shower just finished up!
- tile redi shower pan

- first time using the leveling tile spacers… I have to say, not exactly useless but they didn’t help much. Maybe I’ll try a different brand next time

- LVP flooring

- new double vanity install

- waterproof led install in the shower

Some facts about this job:

1. The flooring beneath the whirlpool bath tub was terrible! Floor joists cut off, no hangers, no support at all for something so heavy! Had to go in and totally replace sub floor, add new joist in for additional support, add in hangers and brackets where nothing was supported. These are the things people often time overlook to “cut cost” or “get the job done quicker” suprised they didn’t end up in the basement while taking a bath!

2. Tile on the existing tub area was on drywall! Drywall is not waterproof and has a paper backing. They had all sorts of water issues in this area. Never install tile on drywall. It’s foolish and can potentially harm someone when it decides to fall off the wall.

3. These are the things that a qualified contractor notice and point out to their customers! My aim is not “get the job done” I want the best for my customers and I want the best for my projects so they last a lifetime.

4. These points are the reason why going with the cheaper company or person is not always (almost never) the better option. Could you imagine taking a bath and falling through to your basement because someone did something so important halfway? I’d much rather pay someone to do the job right the first time

Latest tile shower we finished!

- homeowner is painting, we did some touch up on the drywall to ready it all for painting

- removed the old tub which was 32”x60”

- shower base was upgraded to a 34” wide which adds much more room

- low profile shower bases are a great addition to your bathroom! nice shower door with no bottom track allows easy entry and no areas for water to lay for mold to grow

- the “foot nook” was a first for me! Makes sense for having your legs when no other options are available, I’ve seen pictures in the past but they were small and seemed like a terrible place for water to lay so this one was made a little larger and we slope the bottom tile to divert water back into the shower.

- siliconized grout was used as well to prevent cracking and add the extra waterproofing to the high risk areas

- grab bars are always a good call in showers and add a great safety aspect when installed correctly (I’ve removed them before held in by drywall anchors) this is not a safe idea and we always ensure they are installed into framing.

- anxiously waiting pictures of the bathroom once it’s all painted

Latest bathroom remodel wrapped up!

Out with the wallpaper,

Out with the out of date tub and shower door with the tracks that seem to be made specifically for farming mold

Out with the carpet! Why put carpet in a bathroom in the first place? Unsanitary, musty, just an all
Around bad idea for bathrooms

New exhaust fan installed that is Bluetooth compatible so you can jam while your taking a shower

New vanity, large mirror, and brighter vanity
Lighting really open up the small space

A flat white 12x24 floor tile that is BEAUTIFUL with that charcoal grout

Brand new extra deep soaking tub with all
Black fixtures

And that herringbone tile! That really puts a persons tile skills to the test, but I was up to the challenge. What do you think?

I do not design these bathrooms ( I am not an interior designer) so I can’t take credit for any of that just the install and work involved

Regardless, this one is sharp!

Thanks for looking, and as always feel free to reach out if you decide your bathroom needs an update.

Vinyl board and batten siding install on this beautiful ranch home.

- started off spraying the soffit and fascia black to match the roof and gutters

- the green and black really go well together wouldnt you say?

- installing vinyl products in cold weather can be a bit tedious. Vinyl cracks and breaks very easily when temps drop below 40 and expansion and contraction really can put a damper on your beautiful new home when summer rolls around and everything expands and bubbles out because it was not installed properly. Thankfully the weather held out long enough for me to finish before temps
Got too cold

-Finished just in time for the cold weather to hit! Ok snow you can come anytime now

- I appreciate the work all Of my customers have given me! I am blessed to say another successful year is coming to a close with next year’s schedule already filling up.

This was a fun project!

Metal for the roof, soffit and fascia are ordered but Is a couple weeks out yet.

Before and after pics

I really like the railing! Simple and smooth looking. The roof on this new deck will Come in handy for those hot summer days when a pergola just won’t cut it. All black hardware goes with the natural wood so well. Can’t wait to get back out and put the roof on it will really bring it all Together. Installed a couple pieces of vinyl fencing on the west side to hide the pool pump.

Old shingle roof tear off and replaced with,
Owens Corning onyx black 3 tab shingle
White drip edge and facsia!

A few of the boards underneath were rotten so we ripped those out and replaced them as well.

Quick little one day job!

Photos from Anderson Decks & Remodeling LLC's post 04/10/2022

What started as a relatively easy partial resurface quickly turned into a full rebuild on this one! Old deck had rotting deck board, floor joist, posts, handrail

Floor joist were at random
Placement 24”+ o/c
Some were not even screwed in, none of them had hangers installed

Went in and made sure joist were spaced correctly, put joist hangers in to ensure load capacity

Deck surface we used 2x6 instead of 5/4 decking so it’s a solid one!

Handrails we’re a lot of fun on this one! Custom made 25” baluster and 36” overall height

Finished it off by enclosing the entire deck so c***s and skunks couldn’t find themselves a home underneath.

Next spring once the treated lumber is ready we will stain and this customers deck will be looking better than ever!

Photos from Anderson Decks & Remodeling LLC's post 19/09/2022
