Such an incredible night! Iā€™m so very thankful for all the Augusta and The River crew for coming out to WCC to help lead in worship and to fellowship with us. It was absolutely beautiful to feel and see God move in a high school cafeteria. If He can move here, He can move anywhere. While singing with all these people and students who love Jesus, I couldnā€™t help but think about what a joyous time Heaven will be.
We had so many students, parents, and friends there tonight. We laughed and played games, and we cried and prayed for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Where two or more are gathered, there He shall also be.
Love you guys! Iā€™m thankful for this evening we spent togetheršŸ’›šŸ’›

It always amazes me the way God can speak to us. One of my favorite songs, if not my favorite, is Yellow by Coldplay. Itā€™s a great song, but I love it because the lyrics remind me of Godā€™s love for us and even our love for Him.
The first lyrics: ā€œLook at the stars, look how they shine for you, and everything you do, yeah they were all yellow. I came along, I wrote a song for youā€¦ā€
Psalm 8:3 talks about the works of God being seen in stars, and Luke 19:40 ā€œā€¦ if these were quiet the very stones would cry out!ā€
We can see God in all things if we search for Him, and He is worthy of our praise!! And then for the ā€œwrote a songā€ lyric, we shout praises to God. Louie Giglio put the stars ā€œsongā€ along with the whales to how great is our God. Everything He created praises Him!
In the first chorus: ā€œYouā€™re skin, oh yeah your skin and bone, turn into something beautifulā€¦Do you know I love you so?ā€
We are fearfully and wonderfully made. We are beautiful in His sight, and He loves us. He does not make mistakes.
And then in the second chorus: ā€œā€¦for you Iā€™d bleed myself dry.ā€
Christ died for us! What a love, and what a mighty God we serve. God sent His only Son to save us while we were still sinners.
This song has always brought me a peace when I play it. Itā€™s also one reason yellow is my favorite color. Weā€™ve got to look for God in all that we do and make Him the center of our lives. He is our light, our bright yellow! It always leaves me awestruck to realize the ways God speaks to me and the ways He works in my life. A simple song that may not mean much to others gives me a sense of peace and helps direct me to stopping to praise God. On more than one occasion this song has come on the radio, or been next on my playlist, or has been sung by a friend in a moment of stress and worry. What a mighty God we serve!šŸ’›

I recently came across this verse and at first I didnā€™t pay much attention to it. After finding this image again in my camera roll I realized it was just what I needed to hear(isnā€™t it awesome how God works?!)! In my times of doubt, worry, fear of the future, and sadness over the past, God remains the strength of my heart. No matter whatā€™s going on in life, or the change and challenges we face each day, God remains the strength of our hearts. Sometimes I get discouraged by all the things I canā€™t control or fix, but itā€™s not my job to do so. God just calls me to love others and share the Good News! I encourage you all today to take time to allow God to work in you and to let him be your strength! The Christian life can be hard and can make us weak, but He is strong.

Little clip from our meeting! Love worshipping with Bryan and these awesome students!

Photos from WCC Fellowship of Christian Students's post 14/05/2021

Bryan Shanks came and delivered an awesome devotional for us!
I took some notes on my phone while he was speaking. Here are some of the little nuggets from his message that really just stuck with me ....

Philippians 1:21-27

Verse 21- ā€œto live is Christā€ He gave His life for me so I will give my life for Him.
The entire reason for our existence is Jesus
To magnify, to glorify, to share Him
Hebrews 12:29 ā€œGod is all consuming fireā€
Am I consumed by Him?
Is my life consumed by Him?
To die is gain - better to be in the presence of God than anywhere else
Are we storing up treasure in this world or in heaven?
Is Gods presence the center of our desire??
Psalms 73:25 when we give ourselves to God we should desire only Him so we donā€™t want the worldly desires anymore!

Verse 22
We are alive to work! Our investment is in other people
We have a purpose in Godā€™s plan
Mathew 28:19- great commission (thatā€™s my job)
Whatā€™s the fruit of my labor? Am I sharing His truth ?

Verses 24-26
Paul wants to go home to the Lord. Thatā€™s his desire but he disregards that for the sake of the church that needs him

What desires do I need to disregard to be able to share with others or invest in others ??

We need to invest in others more than ourselves !

Who am I disciplining with intentionally?
Who is sharpening me? Who am I sharpening?

Verse 27
Live your life in a manor worthy of the gospel

Ouch!!!

How am I living ?
What I do matters
Are people tripping over me when they are trying to find Jesus?

If you arenā€™t struggling with sin then you may have given yourself to it already! Sin is a daily struggle for EVERYONE! Even the ā€œbestā€ Christians struggle daily with sin! So if Iā€™m not struggling then maybe I need to do some self reflection and make sure I havenā€™t already given myself to it.

Romans 2:21-24
24 is another ouch
Because we say we love Jesus and we live a life of sin they donā€™t see Jesus. We make people believe God isnā€™t real or isnā€™t who He says He is!
If we donā€™t live for Him we are leading people astray

Do I make people hate Him? Or Do they see Christ in me and want what I have?

Those are just a few of the many awesome things Bryan shared with us! This message was HEAVY! But it was needed!
Abigail and I started this club because we wanted to share our Jesus with others and we wanted a place for our fellow Christians to sharpen each other and lean on each other. Everything about what Bryan shared with us is the exact reason that this club was and still is needed!
As teenage Christians, our high school is our mission field! There are so many young people in need of a Savior and thereā€™s no one better to share that truth with them than a peer!

I donā€™t know about yā€™all but I NEVER want to be the reason that someone hates God or turns away from Him! I want to point to Him with my life, to show His Love and Grace with my actions towards others, and to make people want to have a relationship with Him! The best way to do that is to let Him consume us! To let Him shine through us! To let Him have his Way! And to live in such a way that we are honoring and glorying Him!!

So thankful for the students who have participated over the last two years in FCS and for the guests like Bryan! Definitely gonna miss this club but Iā€™m excited to see the younger students take it over! I know that it will be great!

Love yā€™all šŸ¤

Had to do our FCS meeting a little differently today since we have some virtual but overall it went well! So thankful we have the technology to still be able to meet and talk about Jesus even when we canā€™t be in person! Me and Taylor talked about fear and about all the struggles of the chaos going on right now and about how Jesus can help us overcome our fear! He is above all of this and He is not panicked by COVID or anything else we face! Choose to give more power to faith and less to fear!

As always if yā€™all have any prayer requests or questions or anything then yā€™all shoot me a text or message me on here or on my personal account (Ashlyn Mullins)!

We forgot to video the zoom meeting today but we will try and video next time to post for anyone who was unable to attend! Love yā€™all and have a good rest of yalls week! ā¤ļø

FCS meeting today on zoom! Or if you are on campus you can go to Mrs. Mullins room to watch the zoom! Hope yā€™all join! We are going to talk about fear and overcoming fear with God!

13/10/2020

Hey yā€™all this is Ashlyn! I just wanted to let everyone know that we are starting FCS back up and our first meeting will be during Bear Time on the club meeting day and we will continue to meet on those days every month. We are working on trying to get some activities together outside of school. I know everything is kinda crazy this year and there are so many restrictions and guidlines so because of that we will no longer be having lunch meetings like last year and will instead do Bear Time meetings. This might change at some point later in the year if our COVID situation changes, but until then we will continue doing Bear time meetings only! Canā€™t wait to see yā€™all there!!

I will also be posting some videos and written out devotions for people who arenā€™t able to make the meetings! Love yā€™all and canā€™t wait to get this back up and going! Yā€™all please share and help get the word out! And as always pray pray pray for our club, our school, and our community! And if yā€™all have any prayer requests shoot me a message I will love to pray for you personally and I know our club members will too!

Just a reminder that our club is absolutely free and everyone is welcome. So yā€™all come to momā€™s room during the next bear time club day! ā¤ļøā¤ļø

Havenā€™t posted on here in a while but I thought I would copy this from my personal page and share it with yā€™all.....

Soooooo hereā€™s a lil something I thought I should share.

I was getting in the Word a couple nights ago and I was flipping to a verse I had tabbed that I just needed to remind myself of. But I stopped on a different page cause I saw a sticky note I had written recently and I was just curious what it was about. Abigail Mullins and I recently did a deep study through Matthew and I remember when we got to Matthew chapter 8 we talked about the story of Jesus calming the storm.

In Matthew 8 we see the disciples and Jesus are in a boat and a storm comes and the disciples start freaking out. And honestly we canā€™t judge them cause we probably would do the same thing. But they go to wake up Jesus and they say ā€œSave us Lord, we are perishingā€ And Jesusā€™s reply was amazing just like it always is. He said ā€œWhy are you afraid, O YOU OF LITTLE FAITH!ā€ That last part hits me hard! Cause how many times in my life am I the one with little faith in a storm? Too many times!

I remember that night that me and Abby were reading that. I stopped reading the story and looked at Abby and said ā€œwow Jesus was totally chill even when the disciples freaked outā€ and at first we laughed about how I had just called God ā€œtotally chillā€ šŸ˜…. But then we both started talking about it and realized the depth of it and how much that applies to us today. Cause the storm might be different but Jesus is still the same. Heā€™s still the same Jesus who stays calm, who stays ā€œtotally chillā€ even when we worry and freak out.

Well when I read over that sticky note again and saw what I had written about Jesus being ā€œtotally chillā€ I realized that I needed that reminder. I am an over thinker and a worrier and trusting that God will handle my storms is something that I struggle with. I hate all of this unknown and I think a lot of us do.

Thereā€™s so much crazy going on right now and this storm we are in seems HUGE! Itā€™s so easy for all of us to get freaked out and start stressing but we donā€™t have to! Jesus hasnā€™t changed. This seems like a BIG problem to us, but to God itā€™s not. Thereā€™s no reason to be worried about our storm. And I realize that saying that is a lot easier than living it out, but itā€™s still true! We donā€™t have to worry cause Jesus offers us peace!

Itā€™s easy for me to look at Matthew 8 and judged the disciples and think they are crazy. Like obviously yā€™all had Jesus in the boat with you so thereā€™s nothing to worry about. BUT I DO THAT EVERYDAY! Jesus is in my boat!!! Heā€™s with us always!
Joshua 1:5 tells us that God is with us, that He will not leave or forsake us. So why do we worry. Why do we freak out over the storms that we face in life. Jesus is in our boats!! He knows what we are going through.

In Matthew the disciples cried out to Jesus and He calmed the storm and verse 26 says there was ā€œa great calmā€. Jesus doesnā€™t promise to stop every storm we face. In fact He tells us in James 1 to ā€œcount it all joy when we face trials of various kindsā€ and ā€œblessed is the man who remains steadfast under trialā€. Jesus is telling us in theses verses that we are going to face trails, but Heā€™s also reminding us to keep the faith; to trust Him!

Letting go and trusting is a hard thing to do, but it gets a lot easier when we can remind ourselves that Jesus is in our boat. And even when He chooses not to calm our storm, we know that we can learn something from facing it and that He will be with us through it. We donā€™t have to stress and freak out, we can be ā€œtotally chillā€ cause we serve a God who is totally chill even in the storms! šŸ™ŒšŸ»ā™„ļø

Below are a few of my thoughts from a couple nights ago when I rediscovered Matthew 8 and I shared these on Snapchat.

Photos from WCC Fellowship of Christian Students's post 10/06/2020

ā€”Copied this from my personal pageā€”

Late night thoughts....

I heard a speaker say one time, ā€œIf someone gave you a completely blank calendar and a bank account as full as you wanted, what would you do?ā€

I remember pulling out my phone and putting that into my notes because I thought it was so powerful. This was a few years ago and I remember thinking that it would be amazing to travel the world with my loved ones and go to Medical School without debt šŸ˜‚. Those were the first two things that came into my mind. While I still think both of those things would be amazing, they wouldnā€™t completely satisfy me. Eventually traveling would get old and I would want to come home. There are lots of places I want to see and lots of things I want to do, but those places and things canā€™t fully satisfy me. I would finish Medical School and while I believe I will love my job as a Surgeon, itā€™s still a job and it canā€™t fully satisfy me with either.

Most of us spend our lives chasing after people, places, or things that we think will satisfy us. And they may temporarily satisfy us, but they wonā€™t permanently. We can draw from those shallow wells, but when it really comes down to it they will leave us empty. Jesus is the only Well that can truly quench our thirst!! This isnā€™t because those people, places, and things arenā€™t amazing and even good for us; but itā€™s because our hearts can only truly be satisfied by the One who created them. We were never made to spend our lives chasing after worldly, mundane things. We were created to spend our lives chasing after God and along the journey we would find those people, places, and things.

In order to truly be satisfied we have to decide to follow Him and put Him first in our lives. All at once following Him can be the most frightening, difficult, and ridiculously simple and freeing thing youā€™ve ever done. A lot of times it wonā€™t be easy, but it will be simple. That might seem contradictory, but itā€™s not. Following Jesus will cost us things and it wonā€™t be easy, but following Him is simple. Just choose to trust Him and surrender to Him. The Bible describes it as simple enough that even a child can understand what it means to trust Jesus.

While following Jesus comes at a cost, it also comes with many blessings. One of which is a Peace and Joy that can only be found in Him. Life is hard and scary and thereā€™s a lot of unknowns. But when you have a relationship with God, you donā€™t have to stress about the unknowns. I canā€™t predict the future but I can tell you how this all ends. We have the end of the book, itā€™s already written. I know whatā€™s going to happen. Good will win! God will win!

With God you have the solution before you even have the problem. You donā€™t have to be shaken or thrown off course by worldly things, cause you can be content in the truth that GODā€™S GOT THIS! You donā€™t have to see the future, because if itā€™s truth Faith then itā€™s blind anyway! All you have to see is the Heart of My Jesus. And His Heart is so pure and so full of love for us that we donā€™t have to stress over life. Heā€™s in control and He always has been.

Our World is super crazy right now, and thereā€™s so many unknowns and so many things that we worry about. But God is still in control. Just because our circumstances have changed doesnā€™t mean that Jesus has. He is constant. That means that His love for us, His mercy, His grace, His peace, and His plan are all constant. We can stand on Him as our foundation and we donā€™t have to be shaken by this world.

In case youā€™ve forgotten who exactly Jesus is, Mercy Me has a song that I believe does a great job explaining My Jesus....
ā€œYou're the one who conquers giants
You're the one who calls out kings
You shut the mouths of lions
You tell the dead to breathe
You're the one who walks through fire
You take the orphan's hand
You are the one Messiah
You are I amā€
Heā€™s still that same God!

I hate the unknown. Iā€™m a major control freak and I am the kind of person who stresses over things easily. But Iā€™m learning more and more that all the noise and chaos around me can be drowned out when I choose to listen to the Voice of Truth. More and more often when I get stressed or mad or upset, I am learning to turn to Jesus. I put on my Jesus Jams, put my phone down and either open His Word for guidance or open my Prayer Journal and give it all to God. And His voice tells us to ā€œBe Stillā€, ā€œHave Faithā€, and ā€œBe Patientā€! We donā€™t have to be shaken by the chaos our world is in right now. We have the end of the Book. We know that in the end Jesus Wins. Heā€™s got this. Heā€™s always had this. It may not always be easy, but that will always be the simple truth (God is in control).

This world is broken, itā€™s full of sin, and it will never satisfy us. Look to God!!!! He can fix the broken, He can forgive the Sins, and He can satisfy! All the chaos of this world comes together perfectly in Godā€™s Hands. He sees the full picture and He has every detail worked out. Heā€™s going to finish what He started. Heā€™s going to fulfill all of His promises. One day we will get to stand before Jesus and look back on our lives and see how all the pieces fit, but for now we just have to trust that He knows what Heā€™s doing.

We all need a relationship with Jesus. We all are broken and flawed and searching for something to satisfy us. God is the answer. My Jesus is the answer and He always has been. Let Him be the answer for you!
