Aaron Gubernick
Co-frontman and Bassist of Corruption of the System
I’m sure you have all heard the news today that Sum 41 is breaking up. This has a big impact on our scene but also very personally both as a fan, artist and Corruption of the System. Without a doubt Sum 41 is the biggest influence on Corruption of the System. They were the first band that really crossed pop-punk with metal. To this day their albums are in my rotation and their song writing is a direct influence on my own. When you hear the new music, we are working on right now you can trace it directly back to them. I can say without a doubt with no Sum 41 there would be no Corruption of the System.
I don’t know the reason for the breakup, but I just want to say thank you Deryck, Cone, Dave, Steve, Tom and Frank for creating the music you did. I will forever be indebted to it. Your music was there for me during bad times. To this day when I hear Pieces it takes me back to that time in high school. You have inspired me, and I will do my best to honor the legacy you paved in our scene.
Forever a skumfuk.
