Breeder dogs. Stop the madness

A huge portion of the problem is simply a lack of knowledge of how much different a well bred dog, and a poorly bred dog, will behave and how much different their temperament is. If you’re going to get a dog from a breeder, DO YOUR RESEARCH

When deciding to bring a dog into your family, where you get your dog matters. Opting for a breeder might be your choice, but it’s vital to ensure you’re supporting ethical practices. Here is what to look for in a good breeder and the warning signs of a questionable operation.

**Characteristics of a Responsible Breeder:**

1. **Health Testing:** A good breeder will routinely test their breeding dogs for common inherited health issues in that breed. They’ll be transparent about these tests and the results.

2. **Knowledgeable:** Responsible breeders are experts in their breed. They can provide insights into the breed’s history, characteristics, needs, and potential health issues.

3. **Clean Environment:** The breeding facility should be clean, safe, and stimulating for the dogs. Puppies should be socialized and introduced to various experiences to ensure they grow up to be well-rounded adults.

4. **Limited Litters:** Ethical breeders won’t have puppies available all the time. Breeding is done carefully, with the well-being of the mother in mind. If a breeder always has litters available, this could be a red flag.

5. **Open to Visits:** An open-door policy indicates transparency. A good breeder will welcome potential owners to visit and meet the dogs in their care.

6. **Lifelong Support:** The breeder’s commitment to the dog doesn’t end once the puppy is in your home. They’ll be available for advice, support, and any questions you might have throughout the dog’s life.

7. **Spay/Neuter Contract:** Many responsible breeders will have a contract that either requires you to spay/neuter your pet or comes with limited registration rights if you don’t plan on showing/breeding the dog.

**Red Flags to Watch For:**

1. **Too Good to Be True Prices:** While everyone loves a deal, extremely low prices can be indicative of cutting corners in care, health testing, and proper facilities.

🧄🧄 Garlic isn’t toxic in the correct dose

Garlic for dogs is often a big discussion in the canine community…

As the saying goes “the dose makes the poison” - everything has a lethal dose.

Garlic given in the right amount, is far from toxic for your dog and has many benefits.

Feed half a teaspoon per 10kg of dog,

Always use fresh garlic, chopped, crushed or greated and leave to sit for 15mins to release the allicin.

Do not feed garlic to pups under 6 months, pregnant or whelping bi***es.

🐾🪳Fleas present

Firstly please don’t panic there are lots of natural ways you can get rid of fleas

So start by shampooing your dog by applying lots of natural dog shampoo to the coat while the fur is dry. Start at the neck and work down, leave the shampoo on the dry fur for 10 minutes, this will suffocate the fleas & eggs. Rinse well and brush fur with either a flea comb or brush to release any close to the skin or loose in the fur.

Flea zapper combs are also a great tool to have on hand for use on dry fur - Electronic Flea Comb Kills Fleas Without Chemicals.

You will also need to fully treat the whole house! I’ll pop a link here which explains the best way to treat the house and bedding.

Another option: Organic virgin coconut oil is good for fleas. Rub it in your hands then onto dogs fur and they just drop off then wash the oil off after around 2 hours 👌🏽

Topical flea med. Yuck so many storiesof them killing dogs... Your dog is ingesting neurotoxins either through absorption through the skin or orally. The fleas, ticks, mosquitos still have to bite your dog in order to die off.

Try using natural healthy alternatives.
