Association of Molecular and Microbial Sciences organized an awareness seminar on Lumpy Skin Disease in collaboration with the department of Microbiology, University of Karachi. The lecture was delivered by DrNazeer Hussain Kalhoro, DG Livestock, Government of Sindh and was attended by a large gathering of students, faculty members and animal farmers. Dr Kalhoro emphasized that Limpy Skin Disease, a viral infection, can infect cows through mosquito or tick bites. Buffaloes are not inflected by this virus. Moreover there isn't any chance of transmission of this disease to humans either through live animals or through their milk or meat. So the public should not listen to the rumours spread by social media posts. He also explained the steps taken by the government and future plans about procurement of enough vaccines to avoid any future outbreak.
