Here’s a cool mini amp I made from an after Christmas sale toy. I gutted the toy and added mini amp components. I’m looking for an old AM radio should someone have one. I want to make another one old school style.
When I build guitars I always add an instruction letter. As you can see it’s pretty basic. I do need to point out two major things on this sheet.
1. If you want to lean how to build a CBG. Then go to Southern Fire Guitars on YouTube. There is know one better in my opinion. Knowledgeable, entertaining, great musician and just an awesome person.
2. If you want learn to play and understand what your doing then you must go to Uncle Marks website on YouTube. This man has given me the opportunity to play the guitar the way I dreamt about all my life. I love the blues and for the first time in my life I was able to play a decent lead using a Blues backing track in G. Just by watching and understanding two 15 minute videos. He is amazing!
I do have to warn you…. Once you make your first CBG and play it. Well … it’s too late. Your mind is already planning the next one ….. you just don’t know it yet!
Ok better late than never…. Meet the twins (fraternal). Same boxes, necks, fretboard and tuners. Differences… initials, location of sound holes, fret markings and bridges. Commissioned by my daughter for my grandsons.
I’m not sure how to do this so I don’t lose my followers or who I’m following. I will be changing my website and logo to the following. Big Bops Guitars! My grandson gave me the name and I love it. So as it’s been said … now make so!!!
My next post will be a complete set on pics plus a video of a clients custom build. It has a PSYCHO switch !!!! It sounds AWESOME !
My newest creation. I loved the look of this box and had to do something different. I like testing my abilities and creativity. So here it is the head, neck and heel are comprised of four different woods … Sapeli, Poplar, Purple Heart and Walnut. It has a p750 pickup with a single volume control. Chrome enclosed tuners. It will going with me to Jersey if anyone is interested in purchasing it.
Ok… ok! So I haven’t posted anything new in for awhile. Here is a custom build I’m working on for delivery in September. Religious theme. Poplar fretboard and heel with a n oak neck.
Polished aluminum crosses with brass screws on the box. Polished aluminum cross inlaid at the head. Chrome tuners and volume k**b with a piezo pickup. Purple Heart fret markers. Made to a 25” scale.
I guess I’m just going to have to get use to it.
Just delivered this a few minutes ago. Customer loved it. I through in a hand cut steel slide and a pick. He also loved the paperwork I give with every guitar which includes… scale length, string gauges, material used in the build and a list of YouTube people I believe are the instructors and builders.
My new toy…. Now I’ll head over to Lowes to see if I can sell it!
Took a break from making cigar box guitars.
I made some knives from some old files.
Another new design… offset solid oak neck, head, fretboard, heel. All cut, shaped and sanded from a oak 2x4. Slide fretless CBG with piezo pickup and volume control. Let know what you think. If you have something you’d like to see as a guitar. Let me know and I’ll see if I can make it happen. Check out Etsy at Low Country Cigar Box Guitars
