Three years ago, we, as a family, decided to share the joy of our farm with others. Lots of hard work has gone into bringing our dream to fruition! It's almost completed! Our target month for opening our cabin rentals is April. Once complete, we will post the final pictures.
**Forgot to mention the best part! Kenney is working on the outdoor kitchen!
What a beautiful day at the farm!! The trees are looking healthy after that horrible drought! We look around and are just so thankful for what God has given us. We are so excited for our next season of peaches, blackberries, pears, plums, apples, and pomegranates. As we await for the return of spring, we are almost finished with the cabins. We have the cook shacks (covered barbecue area), the bathhouse (toilet and shower), and fire pits to finish out the entire camping experience. We are shooting for the first week in November to officially have them ready to rent. **pics in comments**
Our objective is to make sure that we have quality fruit going out to the public. Our fruit is maturing slowly and not to our high expectations at this point. Therefore, we have decided not to open to the public this year. We will continue to work on our produce for the coming years, so that you will be able to purchase quality fruit. We hope that you reach out to local farmers who are working hard to get quality produce to you. Thanks for your support.
In about two weeks!
We are looking at another couple of weeks before peaches will be ready. The plums haven’t done as well as far as quantity. Hopefully next year production will pick up with those. We will have more plum trees producing next year. This is still so new to us, so please be patient. We want to get the best and freshest produce out. Hope everyone stays cool today!
***UPDATE*** we have sold out of this picking. We have another picking on Friday. Because our blackberry crop is limited, we have those who have responded on a list and will fill those orders until we run out.
Organic BLACKBERRIES are here!! Get your order in as we have limited supplies at a time. $3.75 1/2 lb or $7.00 lb.
Looking good!
Dreams do come true! Years ago, my dad wanted to figure out a way to make our family farm productive again. I remember sitting in my mom's kitchen, listening to a discussion between my brother and dad discussing the possibility of growing a peach orchard and having one of the first "U Pick" peach orchards. My brother told my father that he would do the research to see if peaches would do well in this area. Dad had the plans. Rod (my brother) had the research. They could do it. However, it was not meant to be. Dad developed Alzheimer's which ended his dream of the orchard, and the idea was put to rest....until 4 years ago. Rod, who lived in Mission, TX, came back to visit the farm. He was excited about revisiting the peach orchard idea. As a family, we decided it would be worth the try. Rod and his wife, Laura were even considering moving to the farm. I was overjoyed because this would be the first time we would be living close together. But, a week and a half after his visit, Rod had a massive heart attack and died. So...here's to you, dad and Rod...the orchard is in. The farm is coming back to life and this is the first year of production. We hope that many people will enjoy the farm as much as we do. I will post more and more about the farm as we continue with this journey.
