We are a chapter of the mass volunteer movement Animal Rebellion.
Animal Rebellion uses methods of non-violent civil disobedience to end the animal agriculture and fishing industries and demand government legislate for a plant-based food system.

I hope you are all well and keeping safe during this difficult time.
I wanted to firstly apologise for the lack of communication on this page; Animal Rebellion Reading kicked off at a bit of an inconvenient time with a lot of University deadlines and then a pandemic!
But it is truly heartwarming to see people still engaging with Animal Rebellion during these tough times and people still wanting to join Animal Rebellion Reading ❤️
Unfortunately my time at Reading Univeristy has come to end so I will no longer be able to continue trying to get Animal Rebellion Reading off its feet in person.
If there is anyone who would be interested in helping to get Animal Rebellion Reading up and running, it would be amazing if you could drop me a message and express your interest!
I will not be leaving Animal Rebellion Reading and I will still be delighted to help with planning meetings and actions; however we could do with some people permanently living in Reading to make this a true success.

🥛 WHY ARLA? 🥛
Having cows produce milk for human consumption is unjust, unsustainable, and inefficient. We know this and we know that transition is inevitable if we want to avoid the complete destruction of the earth and its inhabitants. But why are we focusing on Arla?
Arla is massive! As the single biggest dairy company in the UK they have a revenue amounting to approximately 10.4 billion euros in 2017! Plus, Arla is not just one dairy. It is owned by over 10,000 dairy farmers around the globe meaning that, when we are successful in helping Arla transition to an infinitely more sustainable system it will have a massive impact on the future of our food system.
We're calling on Arla to stop procrastinating on plant-milk and lead the way towards a just, sustainable plant-based food system.
Come on Arla, it's time to be alternative!

It’s been an amazing year for us as an organisation (well 6 months since we started!), we’ve gone from an idea to an international rebellion with over 51 local groups from 11 different countries & over 50,000 followers across our international social media channels!
We can’t thank everyone enough who has joined us in this fight for climate/animal justice. This includes getting a flag & joining a march, taking the streets with us in October, sharing a post about us on social media, liking a photo, telling a friend about us, donating money or even just following one of our pages! Whichever way you’ve helped, has helped.
We’ve now on-boarded an immense number of new people, all taking up new roles, on-boarding new people themselves, ready for another massive year of growth, learning & making a difference to our current food system which needs radical change and fast!

Divestment in meat means getting high-wealth individuals, companies and public organisations such as Universities, the New York City Council, HSBC, The World Bank & Barclays to remove their stocks, bonds, and investments in livestock companies such as Cargill, JBS, etc.
‘The World Bank’s investment arm, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), holds a significant stake in Minerva, Brazil’s second largest beef producer and exporter. The IFC has admitted to the Bureau that a monitoring loophole means it cannot know how many cattle raised on illegally deforested land end up in Minerva’s supply chain.’ - Alexandra Heal, Andrew Wasley.
