Anambra community residents flee homes over Fulani herdsmen attack

Residents of Mmiata community in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State have deserted their homes following attack allegedly by Fulani herdsmen on Wednesday evening.

A youth leader in the community, Obinna Chigbata, who fled to Onitsha, disclosed this to journalists on Thursday at a press conference.

He alleged the Fulani herdsmen mobilised and attacked the community because of the people rejected grazing on their farmlands.

Chigbata said, “I am a youth leader and sponsor of all the peace meetings between my people and the Fulani herdsmen.

“The crisis escalated when some elders of the community tried to use civil means to stop the herdsmen from destroying our crops and farmlands.

“Unfortunately, the peace settlement did not work as they attacked us on Wednesday. They had earlier killed my father in a similar attack in the past.

“As I am talking to you now, my life is in a great danger because they are looking for me and many others in the community to kill.

“Since we have become targets of the Fulani herdsmen for opposing open grazing on our farmlands, we have no alternative than to desert the community; people are running away from their ancestral homes.

“Some have suggested we employ the services of Eastern Security Network of IPOB, since the government security operatives are of no assistance to us as they have left us to die in the hands of the herdsmen.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, said, “the command has not received such complaint. I will find out and get back to you.”

How BNG Commander Stole Our Biscuits After Taking Free Fuel, Abia Filling Station Manager Narrates (VIDEO) |

The total monetary loss recorded by Benkama filling station located at Amaekpu Ohafia, Abia State has finally been ascertained by ABN TV following the invasion of the station by gunmen who identified themselves Biafran National Guard, BNG.

It is estimated at about N26,300 only.

They were said to have besieged the business premises with a convoy of five cars suspected to have been snatched from their owners along the highway around 8:30am.

Manager of the filling station, Mr. Chibuike Stanley who spoke with ABN TV, said he had mistaken the heavily armed men who appeared in military camouflage as security details of a VIP.

He said they had demanded for a refill of their car tanks from the eager station attendants who duly served as they demanded.

The manager said he however became suspicious of their transaction when they demanded for additional fuel in their tank when no payment had been made.

"They asked her to add more. It was in the process of asking her to add more that I asked if they have paid and she said no.

"I no asked her to go and demand for payment. She then asked who is in charge to pay. One of them warned her to keep quiet. It dawned on me that these are not customers" he said.

According to the station manager, while he was watching, one of the BNG members went into the supermarket in the station of came out with five packets of biscuits valued at N1,000 only each.

This is in addition to the total amount of fuel dispensed to them worth N21,300 only.

The BNG members also attacked members of Abia state vigilante group who provided guard duty at the filling station and took their two pump action rifles and their ammunitions.

Management of the filling station said apart from being harsh to the petrol pump attendants, the BNG members did not shoot or launch any physical attacks in the process.

ABN TV reported that the group which threatened to declare a Biafra Republic on October 30, 2021 were later intercepted by a joint security forces in Ohiafia.

About three them were said to have been killed while about four of the suspected stolen vehicles were recovered from them.

Abia state police command has since called for calm among resident, insisting that they would provide adequate security to members of the public.

As a young soldier then; he did not look back, it was a youthful exuberance and being a soldier, he wanted Biafra restored by any means. Call him a Kidnapper because he forced top people to demand for Uwazurike's release and raised funds for building a radio house, buying bullets and guns. He should beat his chest and be proud of that”

“The bottom line is; we raised money in the wrong way for the agitation when we had no other option but we love Innocent Orji because all the money that came in the right or wrong way was put down for the restoration of Biafra. He did not eat One Naira. He did not share One Kobo. The money was used for the struggle and even caused problem when some stubborn soldiers wanted him to share the money to them. He insisted the money must go into the agitation; we respected him for that singular decision.

Mr Uzo said as he thoughtfully looked downwards like counting the number of the lines on the milk-color tiles of his parlor. He was more of browsing through that previous experience with his enduring expressing. I needed nobody to tell me the thought of what they went through back down was taking toll on him.

To narrate what actually transpired around 2007 when everything seemed gone for Biafra agitators became quite a burden to him. He had to muster the courage to avoid dribs of tears; it happens, but he needed to be a man. Ralph Uwazurike was arrested and everybody kept quiet as he languished in the prison. There were no funds for Biafran agitators to trigger most of the plans they had and there was no media to bring Uwazurike’s predicament to limelight.

“Orji was the only respected leader of the Biafran security under MASSOB. Nigeria had the upper hand in the arrest of Uwazurike because with their media, they controlled the narrative and ensured Uwazurike’s case was not reported or given sufficient publicity. I was close to General Innocent Orji; we brainstormed on a lot of things but there was no money.

“We had Biafrans from Switzerland who had promised to fund the agitation but disappointed in the dying minute and we were left stranded. Communication with Uwazurike showed he was giving up because nobody was speaking or helping. Uwazurike felt abandoned and those of us outside were giving up but Innocent Orji stood up to the occasion.

“Orji played a significant role in building of MASSOB Freedom House because he was the person that suggested and implemented the ways of raising money, like tasking filling stations that sell above stipulated prices, Biafran passport that was sold and many others.

“But the time Uwazurike went in; it was hard for the entire agitators, remember there was no other group then but MASSOB, unlike today we have different groups. So; Biafra was dying slowly, Uwazurike’s incarceration demoralized the agitation. Biafra needed someone to turn things around and that was when Innocent Orji took the bull by the horn.

“It started with the arrest of Ogbuawa who was told that the condition for his release would be to demand the release of Ralph Uwazurike. MASSOB then had the power to arrest and settle civil matters. I remember we were even settling land dispute and getting money to run the struggle through that means. Ogbuawa did as we demanded and even supported us financially as we complained about lack of financial support and it was while discussing lack of financial support that Ogbuawa suggested names to be called in to raise funds for the struggle.

“We and everybody love Innocent Orji to date because he took that risk and brought the money for the struggle to go on. He did not take in that money for personal use and even at a point had to raise voices against those that wanted him to share the money as proceed of a job well-done. His passion for Biafra was immeasurable and that was why the first day he came out of prison; you saw how many men that followed him.

“Today; some people write and talk out of ignorance while others deliberately write to discredit Biafra. Orji put his name on the line to save Biafra and how many people can do that today? We needed funds and he raised those funds; those of us in the system will never stop loving him for everything he did.

“You see Orji; he has not called for men, we trust him so much and we are ready to die with him. Those you have seen are those following him with their money- they paid to come in with him. Imagine when he would declare the floor open; then, you will see the commander he is, a man of the people.

“We love Orji; if he kidnapped, he did it for Biafra, everything he did was for Biafra and anything for Biafra is accepted by us. As long as Orji did not do anything for his personal interest; as long as he did to raise funds for Biafra, we shall always stand by him.

Police recover locally-made explosives from IPOB/ESN in Anambra. Published on November 1, 2021 By Joe Chukindi

Police detectives in Anambra State have recovered locally made RPG Bomb and a hand gr***de from the site of the shootout between gunmen and security operatives last weekend.

Recall that suspected ESN militants had attacked a joint security convoy led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng last weekend.

A police source said the CP on Monday sent out detectives to profile the scene of the shootout for clues that could aid investigation aimed at unravelling the identities and mission of the gunmen, when the explosive devices were found.

The source said: “A major breakthrough was recorded when a bag was found in a gutter close to where one of the gunmen was gunned down.

“The bag which also contained a mobile phone was found to be loaded with one locally made hand gr***de and a rocket propelled gr***de bomb.

“This made the detectives to quickly alert the Command which then deployed its Bomb Disposal Squad to the Scene at Nnobi Junction.

“The explosive ordinances were defused and recovered for analysis while the handset is being processed for vital intelligence on the gang of bloodthirsty gunmen,” the police source said.

When DAILY POST contacted the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) DCP Aderemi Adeoye, he confirmed the recovery.

He said: “The Command led by CP Echeng will stop at nothing in putting an end to the madness of the so-called unknown gunmen. He assured that the directives of the IGP to protect the people of Anambra State and create a conducive environment for a free and fair election come Saturday 6th November is being implemented to the letter.”

He commended the synergy between the Military, the Police, DSS and other paramilitary agencies and observed that such synergy was unprecedented.
