Well I have a simple hack for you! You might think this sounds crazy, but trust me.. This is true! 💯
Try switching to satin pillow cases. YES - you heard me right! Oops, I mean you read that right!
The fibers in cotton pillowcases cause hair to rub against each other and this is how knots occur. They also don't allow for smooth & free flowing of hair stands, as you twist and turn in your sleep.🛏
Hair sticks to cotton fibers and gets tugged, causing breakage. 🙆
Satin, however reduces friction, and promotes better managability of hair as you sleep.✨

This has been a game changer for me since I switched. No more waking up to tangled hair that breaks easily. Hair is strong💪 and smooth 💫

With Covid turning all of us into hermits, I want to talk about the importance of hair health✨
Our hair goes through phases in it's normal growth cycle :
✔ Anagen (the growth phase) 🌱
✔ Catagen (transition phase) 🌿
✔ Telogen (the resting phase) 🍃
Each hair follicle is independent and goes through the growth cycle at different times. This is why you only shed about 80-100 strands a day, as opposed to all of it at once!
However, being locked up at home, not meeting anyone... we tend to forgot about our hair by tieing it all up in a hot mess on top of our head, away from the face.
(Tell me below if this is you! 🙈)
This reduces blood flow to the roots and hair is sent into the resting phase.
Hair thinning/hair loss problems begin when your growth cycle is disrupted.
So what can you do to keep hair in its growing phase?
✔ Proper nutrition 🍲
✔ Regular exercise 💪
✔ Scalp massage 🙆

This used to be me as I was growing up 😂. You want to know what's even more funny? I didn't even have long hair!
I just hated haircuts; they made me terribly sad. Even trims! It broke my heart to see bits and pieces of my hair on the floor💔...
But then I got older and wiser lol and realized that in order to keep my hair healthy and growing long, I needed to get rid of dead ends (NO WONDER my hair wasn't even "long" haha!).
We all know hair grows from the scalp. The scalp has natural oils that help to provide nourishment and moisture protection to the hair strands. However, the longer your hair, the harder it is for oils to distribute all the way to the end. This leads to dry & dull ends.. and even split ends.
A simple solution to this problem is to maintain proper hair health by getting regular trims or haircuts.
I didn't know better when I was young and silly. But I noticed my hair growing much better when I kept refreshing my haircut regularly.
Now, don't get me wrong. I am not saying that getting a haircut will magically grow your hair. If only it was that easyyyy!
It won't grow your hair overnight but a little step towards better hair care will definitely bring you closer to your hair goals! ❤
Speaking of haircuts, I am so overdue.

I am a sucker for hot hair tools!! I can't remember how long I have been using a blow dryer to dry my hair every time I step out of the shower. Yes, you read "every time", correctly! 🙈
Even if it means just staying at home, I would be using a blow dryer! If I would go out, out comes more hot tools (i.e. flat iron, curling wand, etc).. This was just as easy as towel drying myself after a shower. I didn't even remember what AIR drying my hair felt like.....
Until Covid-19 changed everything!😷
Turning into a hermit, thanks to lockdown made me stop using my beloved hot tools and that is when I realized how long it had been since I allowed my hair to breathe. Like really BREATHE!
Now, I only blow dry once in every 2 weeks and even when I do, I make sure 70% of my wet hair is AIR Dry first.
It is the simple things that make the biggest difference.💞

How, you ask? Well aside from destressing you, yoga helps promote blood flow to the scalp! Happy scalp, leads to healthy hair!💫
Dedicate 15-30 minutes of your day to yourself and meditate or do yoga. Think if it as a self-treat after a long hard day. You totally deserve it! ❤
The way we think is the way we feel and consequently the way we act.
Often times, we criticize ourselves too harshly. This takes a negative effect on not just our mind & emotions but also our body's organs, including hair.
So, you have had a tough day at work. Instead of stressing over how bad it was, how about changing that mindset to "tomorrow will be my best day"?
It is such a simple change but what it does is that it breaks the limit you have placed on yourself unknowingly. A happier outlook leads to a happier YOU and that is most important.
I don't know about you guys but ever since Covid happened, my mental health took a big hit and that is when I realized I have to change the way I think. After all, I am the one stopping myself from achieving anything that I want. And at that time, my focus was to improve my hair health.
I won't lie, it wasn't easy to constantly motivate myself but doing it regularly really did make a difference. Slowly, I noticed my hair getting better. If you are wondering, it is still a work in progress haha. But all I want to say is, if I can "unlimit" myself, so can you!
