My best boy.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!
Santa and his elves paid an early visit to all the good dogs at The Sandhills Working Dog Club this year!
Handlers and dogs alike enjoyed a cooler day of training, the chill in the morning air promising autumn was just around the corner.
A few of my favorite shots from The Sandhills Working Dog Club this weekend.
Happy National Dog Day!
Short (but intense) sessions in the shade made for great training for both young and mature dogs this weekend. Safety is always a priority; plenty of fresh drinking water, a nearby wading pool, fans and sun-reflecting covers for the cars and crates all helped ensure the dogs didn’t suffer any heat-related injuries.
Summer training camp is in session!

Happy Independence Day!
My very first wedding shoot— such a beautiful couple. May God bless them with many happy, healthy years!
A couple of young dogs and pups learning the fundamentals of the sport of IGP (formerly known as IPO and Schutzhund).
I am so blessed to have the most beautiful subjects. 💕
Our little backyard visitors get a little more comfortable with my presence every day, allowing me to creep just a wee bit closer for sharper shots. When I first started photographing the wild birds, I only shot from inside of the house; now I am able to sit outside and simply wait for them to return to their perches on the feeders, in the trees and on the fence. The Chipping Sparrows are definitely the bravest and the first to settle after I’ve come outside; they’ll snack away at the feeders even if I am outside training the dogs. The finches (three different varieties, as far as I can tell) are usually second to the table. The Mockingbirds, after watching the activities of the sparrows and finches, typically do a few “fly-bys” before they settle in for a brief meal. The mourning doves keep a respectful distance when I am outdoors, but seem to be getting more accustomed to me and my camera. The Cardinals and our lone Woodpecker have been pretty elusive, but not nearly as elusive as the Blue Jay, who is quite flighty, even if he catches he observing him from the window. I haven’t yet earned the trust of the adorable Tufted Titmouse, but perhaps there is still hope. : )
Because I adore action photography, I rarely use my 50mm lens or take many portraits. Unlike the humans in my family, these four chuckleheads are always willing to allow me to experiment and share their photos, lol! Featuring Nemi (APBT), aged 9.5 years; Luna (APBT mix), aged approximately 7 years; Artie (AB), aged 7 years; and Bruce, aged 8.5 years.

Bruce loves helping get the house ready for Santa!
I am so thrilled to announce Bruce (my American Bulldog) and I had the chance to participate in a very unique and extremely fun competition this past summer: A&E's "America's Top Dog!" The show will premier on 8 January 2020 at 9pm. I don't know on which episode we'll be appearing yet . . . More to follow. In any case, I hope I didn't make too big of a fool out of myself, but I can assure you, Bruce and I had a blast! More about the show below. A&E

In each one-hour episode of “America’s Top Dog,” four police K9 teams, including fan-favorites from the hit series “Live PD,” and one civilian team will face off for the title of “Top Dog” in three rounds of high velocity, furry competition. The skilled teams will be tested on their speed, agility, scenting ability, and teamwork by completing a series of expert tasks on one of the biggest and toughest K9 obstacle courses ever assembled - designed by experts to mimic real-life challenges that these furry heroes face every day on the beat. Teams will navigate a complex maze to locate scented items and apprehend a suspect in a bite suit with a takedown, among a variety of other challenges. Each week’s winning team will receive $10,000 and an additional $5,000 to donate to the animal charity of their choice. In the final week of competition, top competitors will return to the finale course to battle for the title of “America’s Top Dog” and an additional $25,000 cash prize.
