I’ve been noticing lately that the darkest feelings and moments seem carry their own antidotes. Somehow dead ends are invitations to take the next right turn, and spirals can become the homes that can anchor transformation.
Maybe this is what it means to love your shadow 💕

Today feels like a good day to curl up in a mossy, sunny place and take a nap. 🍄☀️

While it’s hard to pick favourites from my sketch book, these two pages are definitely up there for me. I hope you like them as well!

I’ve spent a lot of time this year creating, and not much posting. So today I decided to spend a few hours doing the final edits on some watercolour illustrations from last years Christmas gifts.

I love this little bunny sitting in the window. It’s reminiscent of fond family nicknames and childhood dreams of travelling far away places.

☀️~Sun Keeper~ ☀️

This painting was inspired by the role of the Celtic Goddess Brigid and the celebrations of Imbolc. As the festival lands halfway between the winter solstice and spring equinox, it honours Brigid for her ability to hold the tension between these opposing energies. She maintains the restfulness of Winter to further nurture her inspirations while allowing herself to feel the anticipation that comes with the first signs of spring.

In Sun Keeper I imagine Brigid as the comforting place where the sun rests it’s eyes during the winter. She blankets him in stars it so that the moon may have her time to shine. But even in the darkest nights of winter, he is never left behind. He rest easy knowing that he will wake in due time.

Brigid to me is an ally in overcoming black and white thinking, and a need to rush towards solutions.
She allows for conflicting energies to exist in such a way that there is room for both to be nurtured and grown. She calls for *balance*

This painting took many reiterations to conceptualize fully and it was my first try painting a human form with acrylic. Because of this it took me a long time, but that feels apt due to the theme. Theres much I’d change, but I suppose I have Brigid to thank for this learning experience in patience.

Trapped on land the Selkie longs for so much more than the sea. Not a woman and not a seal - the Selkie’s true identity lies in their ability to transform.

As a nonbinary person I often feel a sense of erasure due to the pressure to fall into one of the standard two genders. So, I love the stories like that of the Selkie that demonstrate the way an innate sense of self can be found in the intangible middle between forms.

While I’m not saying the story of the Selkie is explicitly q***r I like to imagine they could have been. These tales tell of folks who don’t fit the mold, and the pain felt when they lost their ability to choose. I think there is something connective and validating about these themes retaining their relevancy through all the turns and shifts of history.

The other day I spent three hours listening to a podcast about bats and painting this little guy 🦇. This wasn’t enough bat…and I seem to have an insatiable need for more bat everything.

I’ve been making an effort to connect with some of my childhood and special interests lately as a way of unmasking and trauma healing. I absolutely adored learning about endangered and extinct animals, and I think there may be more tiny creatures to paint in my future. Tell me your favourite weird animals and animal facts!

This custom DND screen is officially complete and happily awaiting grand adventures with . Despite these paintings being quite far outside of my comfort zone (I am not a dnd player), I loved the challenge of creating critters and landscapes right out of my own imagination.

Tiny Tea Dragon ~ SOLD

Nestled high on a top shelf of an abandoned witches cottage rests the remnants of many cups of tea shared among friends. Many years after the witch packed up her wares and moved on, tiny creatures sought refuge within the stone walls. Among the many spiders and mice that call this place home dwell the remains of a tiny dragon that made his bed in this little tea cup. He guards a little fluorite crystal even in his sleep.
