Last day! The CCC built this dam in the 1930's.
Moonshiners Cavern and Falls was a short little hike but the destination was fantabulous! So glad we went!
Devils Den trail was the was the shortest but probably the most beautiful hike we went on. Be prepared for steep elevations...but so worth it!
Jules n GG took off to Devils Den State Park with . It was a fantastic weekend with beautiful scenery and awesome views! We met some great ladies who like to hike as much as we do! These are photos of our 2nd hike to Vista Point which we never found but got to experience ice cold water crossings! Burrr and ouch!!!
Whew! The last practice run before heading to Arkansas for a 15 mile hike at Devil's Den. We completed 15 miles today at Kanopolis state park! If we are not ready now...we never will be! Lovely day to hike!
We don't normally stop to look at road kill but you don't see a bobcat cub everyday! We had a beautiful hike out at Kanopolis Lake today. Not much wildlife other than a small little snake. Small tuffs of green are trying to peek through the dry soil! Pray for rain folks. We were working on endurance training in preparation for our hike to Devils Den where we will attempt 15 miles! It was a good day!
Fun day at Marquette KS, Barta Bull Sales , Smoky Valley Distillery, Sam Unruh singing at The Ranch House
Minneapolis KS 14 taps coming, pay by the ounce. April 1 should be up and running. Cool basement games for family fun, beautiful coffee shop with homemade goodies. Neat stop!!

Finally, after vacations, family health issues and KSU football games, Jules and GG are back on the road! It was great to be out and about with my bestie again! 1st stop was Walnut River Brewery in Eldorado, Ks.The new offering was the Maple Pecan beer! Perfect for the fall season Yum! Yum, yum!
Krazy Kansas girls, then traveedl down the road to Augusta where Grace Hill Winery and Apple Jack Pumpkin Patch sponsored an "Adult Only" wine walk! Six wine tasting stations of either sweet or dry wine, a complimentary wine glass, fun outdoor games/activities and wonderful live music provided by Business Casual band! I'm just saying "the girls got some pipes"! It was a super fun day and and the wine was really good! (We can be a bit picky about our wines! Lol) There will be another Adult Day next Saturday, November 13, 2:00-5:00! Check it out and support Kansas Businesses!
Our last full day today, up and out the door by 6am! This ensured a parking spot, and sunrise photos at Nymph, Dream, and Emerald Lakes, followed by Haiyaha Lake!! Lastly, drove up to the Tundra, rock cut on top of Trail Ridge Road. Did a bit more rock climbing for the best photo op ever at 12,000 ft above sea level!
What a fabulous week of hiking! Today was 8 miles, for a grand total of 36.5 Mike's in 4 days! Plus meeting new people who share my passion for hiking and being outdoors, priceless!!
What a day, what a day!! When going to Rocky Mountain National Park, you have to plan ahead and be sure you're up at the butt crack of dawn. There is a timed entry pass you buy online. You can only get in during that time, unless you get into the park before 5 am!!
Starting at Bear Lake, we decided to hike up to Loch Lake and then up to Sky Pond! Yes, that name says it all. At an elevation of nearly 11,000 feet, we found some icy rocks, we may have scaled a rock wall and crawled down some sketch terrain...don't tell mom!
On our way back, we decided to take the path less traveled, and may have gotten a little lost! The path may have turned into an animal path, but don't worry, I had my bear bell ring-a-linging!!! Decided to turn back, still on the road less traveled, a fire path, but it lead us back to the main trail!!
What a day. We felt really bad ass for completing sky pond! Had some youngsters watching us scaling the wall!
Good morning from Sprague Lake, Rocky Mountain National Forest
Today was full of amazing waterfalls and a beautiful lake at the end. We got to the third waterfall, and the lake was only 1.8 miles further, so we went for it! The top elevation was 10,000 ft. It took us a bit to get up that high, but we felt accomplished in doing it!
Day 2 Estes Park, CO. Rocky Mtn Natl Park . Getting the lay of the land with a few short hikes, aclimated to the elevation pretty well today. Probably around 6 miles total, with several little ones. Having dinner here at the YMCA of the Rockies, became Lisa has driven us around all day, bless her heart! Next 3 days gonna be doozies!!!
Headed out to beautiful Colorado today. Getting the lay of the land at The YMCA of the Rockies, and a yummy dinner at Bird and Jim in Estes Park. I had the salmon and basil tomato asparagus, Soo good! Tomorrow we start some shorter, easier hikes, getting aclimated to the elevation. Stay tuned
Last stop, and, wow, just wow! Ya know sometimes, things just work out perfectly, and stopping by at Broken Bow NE was just that, perfection! Their expansive menu included flat bread pizza, burgers, salmon, phillys, reubons, and much more! The food was incredible! Best meal we have had on our little trek , so far! Now their brews were top shelf for sure. The menu was so diverse, our friend had a 12 sample flight!!!
We have to give a huge shout out to L.B.! Our tour guide, beer conousier, belly laugh guide through all things Kincaider! He made the stop an event not just a dinner stop! His expert knowledge of the history and evolution of the brewery was very intriguing, and we enjoed every minute! Thanks L.B !!
They have stops in Broken Bow, Grand Island, Lincoln, and coming soon to Omaha!
Bootleggers Brewery located 12 miles from the float trip, offered an amazing beer selection. My fav was the Naked Orange, had the jalapeno beer, and Irish ale , and a basic wheat! Great ambiance, just chips n dip for food, so plan accordingly
Well, I said it was going to be good, hold the phone!!! Calamus Outfitters certainly delivered, but the company sure does help! Located in Central Nebraska, this spot offers cool tank float trips, approximately 6 miles down the Calamus River! Wonderful scenery, cool spring fed water, all for $80 for a 4 hour float! We couldn't have had a better time!! Check it out!! Hurry, they close Labor Day Weekend!!
Last 2 stops of the day we're Prairie Creek Winery in Central City, and Miletta Vineyard.
Prairie Creek was in a cool renovated old building which was just beautiful. We were lucky to get in, as they take reservations mostly.
Last stop before our Air bnb stop was at Miletta Vineyard at St Paul Nebraska. Here, they had some great dry reds, sweet whites, and wine slushies, for you sweet wine peeps! Our dinner was amazing, with my choice being Barramundi white fish and Caesar salad. Others had Alfredo pasta with chicken and shrimp. Everything was really great, and coupled with amazing vineyard view, how could you go wrong?
Something about Marquette NE drew us in, lol. Love these small towns and friendly folks we encounter. Downton Marquette, you'll find Scotty's Bar and Grill! Beautiful reclaimed wood ceiling original brick walls, amazing guitar and gas pump collection! Loved our stop in Marquette, Nebraska
First stop Superior Nebraska. Superior Estates Winery, est in 2001 by the Meyer's Family. This 80 acre site has consistently produced international award winning wines. Of course, my fav was the Cab!!
Look out world, GG is on the move! Stay tuned, gonna be a good one!!
Our last Jaunt was up to Aspen. We took the Silver Queen Gondla ride to the top of the mountain. We took the Hidden Treasure trail through 2 miles of beautiful forest. The scenic nature trail was a sweet little 1 mile hike with great mountain views. After our hike, we were treated to a Rugby game. Aspen was playing Vail and won 7 to 2. I couldn't help but show a picture of the herd of mountain goats as we were traveling through Independence Pass.
