For the first time in my experience with the show, we actually had an Afro-Latina play the role of Abuela Claudia. Jacquelin Schofield is of Puerto Rican/Black descent from Nueva York! She was exceptional in the role, and honored her mother by wearing her jewelry onstage. 💍✨️🕊 We had to digitally alter the original bodega grate to reflect her skin tone and appearance. Stage magic!

Another trip through El Barrio! For the first time, I directed the show, and played Kevin Rosario! With the help of producers Tom McCoy & Cathy Rigby, along with my amazing Co-Director/Choreographer Marissa Herrera, her assistant Laurie Muñiz-Jaímez, and our musical director Brent Crayon, we gave La Mirada audiences something to cheer about!!! 😀 🎉
