Happy Spring š±š·šø
Anyone else getting some spring cleaning done this weekend?
I like to remind people this time of year to stop using toxic, typical household cleaners AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
BUT this doesnāt mean that you have to spend $$$$ on ācleanā products.
Equal parts water and vinegar is a super easy, effective antimicrobial and cleaner you can use and modify to clean most surfaces. Add some of your favourite citrus and essential oils to freshen up the smell. Simple, easy, inexpensive. When most people ask for advice on how to eliminate toxins from their cleaning routine theyāve usually already spent tons buying products that are just as effective as this ^.
Save your hard earned money for buying some fresh spring flowers instead š·š·š·
You can still have great things while weāre inside.
2020 may have changed your path in ways you didnāt expect, but letās use this last month to look to 2021 and what we want it to look like. Now is a great time (especially if you have benefits left over!) to get started on transforming your health āØāØ

As things continue to slowly open up, there is a lot of talk about returning to our ānormalā lives. I think itās important we evaluate what our normal looks like and consider what parts of normal may or may not be worth returning to. Were you burning the candle at both ends pre-COVID leaving you exhausted? Were you making time for yourself? Checking in to see how your body is actually feeling? Were you nourishing yourself properly? Start checking in and taking notice to see what areas in your life could use a new, better normal š

Itās important to remember no part of life is exempt from racism, including and especially medicine. Black and other ethnic minorities suffer disproportionately in almost every part of health.

Early this morning we received a notification from our regulatory body allowing us to gradually and safely resume our services! The same quality of care will be given with special precautions to keep us safe. It will look a little different and our policies will include:
- Screening for COVID will be done on each patient prior to entering the clinic
- The amount of people in the waiting room will be limited to allow 6ft apart between patients
- Hand sanitization is available to patients when entering, and also leaving the clinic
- Extra cleaning protocols will be in place in the clinic
- Non-essential items will be removed to limit surface area and contact areas
- Patients are advised to wear masks, if you donāt have one, one will be provided to you
- Virtual appointments are still available if you feel your care can be given over the phone, or if you donāt feel comfortable coming in
Call the clinic at 519-472-0110 to book! Or feel free send a message if you have any questions.
Iām now offering virtual consults for both new and existing patients! This allows you to stay home and still receive naturopathic care. Happy Valentineās Day ššš
Whether you choose to celebrate self love, romantic love, pet love, friend love or ANY type of love, I hope you have an amazing day. There tends to be a huge emphasis on statuses - āsingleā vs ātakenā and largely an emphasis on heteronormativity. If we can take a step back from that and just look at ways to have more love and joy we might be better off! I am a huge fan of valentineās because I think we could all use some more love in our lives. I chose to celebrate self love this morning by making myself get outside for some exercise (before I indulge in a box of chocolates) ā¤ļø
Intuitive eating is talked about a lot these days and I find thereās a lot of confusion around what it actually means. Yes itās listening to your body, but itās also supporting your body with the nutrients it needs and this is where there is often a gap for people. There is no shame in not knowing how to get somewhere youād like to be in your health - because most of us have never been taught how.

How to Be OK With Weight Gain When You Start Intuitive Eating You're sick of all the dieting bullsh*t and have embarked on a new, wonderful, healthy journey of intuitive eating. You're working on listening to your hunger
If being hard (and maybe mean) to yourself hasnāt worked in the past itās probably not going to work ever. Feeling guilty/shameful for ordering takeout, using a workout to āmakeupā for eating poorly are examples of meeting your body with meanness instead of kindness. Approaching health and goals from a place of kindness instead of harshness can make all the difference.
Exposure to sunlight during the day and reducing blue light exposure at night is so important to our health and keeping our circadian rhythms in check.

PAINš¤¬š¤š¹
Pain in general causes a response in the body and on the tissues. When we have pain our muscles contract, blood flow is restricted, toxins build up and nutrients canāt reach that area as well. Cupping is an amazing, traditional way to help relieve this by creating a vacuum, picking up tissue allowing the muscles to relax and blood flow to be restored to optimize healing.
Just a gentle reminder on this first Monday of 2020 āØāØ
You canāt be an expert in everything. Sometimes being successful means delegating parts out to people who can help you reach all of your goals. Having someone do the work for you to put together a plan, hold you accountable for that plan, and adjust that plan to fit your life can often mean the difference between being successful or not. We hire accountants for our finances, mechanics for our cars and it only makes sense you have someone on your team to help you with your health (and NOT just someone that you only go to when your sick). HEALTHcare should be about managing your health not just your sickness.
A great summary of the training that is required to become an ND!
