Ryan Barry for Mansfield School Committee
I am respectfully asking for your support of my candidacy to run for school committee in the upcoming town election on May 10th. www.givesendgo/ryanbarry.com
Would like to THANK everyone that took the time out of their day to VOTE today!
Today was not our day, but am thankful for the lessons learned, the great experience of becoming involved, and the amazing people of Mansfield that have supported us!
CONGRATULATIONS to all of the people that won today!
See you all soon 👍
Today is election day in the Town of Mansfield. It is a day where people have the opportunity to ensure their voices are heard by a vote. Every vote counts and it is one of the few things left I feel these days that is both empowering and meaningful.
4 people have chosen to run. It takes a lot. There are tolls on families, kids, free time, jobs, etc. I truly believe that all 4 people running believe in their own way that they can enact change. We might not agree with each other, but that is the beauty of democracy. You get to vote with who best aligns with your viewpoint.
Since 6:30 am I have watched post after post all over different social media platforms of people advocating for their candidates. I think it is a great thing! What I am saddened to the core is there isn’t a lot of comments on those posts, but in contrast 276 comments bashing my platform. People are coming at me left and right and it is hard to watch and take the moral high ground.
I got involved because I felt like I could make a difference. I got involved to have a different voice. Whatever your opinions are of me and my platform should hold the same respect you are giving these other candidates.
We can do better as a town. Good luck to all who have committed to running today. You certainly have my utmost respect.
Ryan

On this Mother's Day, I would like to thank the women in my life that have been inspirations to me:
My Meme, Ida St. Germaine, was always a guiding light in my life. You taught me so many lessons that I think of and value to this day. Thank you for the wisdom, love, and encouragement that you always shared with me. Happy Heavenly Mother's Day to you Meme!
To my Mom, You have always been my inspiration. You are truly beautiful inside and out. The things that you have taught me are immeasurable. You taught me to lead not follow, be gracious and grateful, be sensitive, kind, and caring, and loving, to be resilient, and to always be a good person to others. Some fun memories that I have are you making amazing Halloween costumes, calling into a radio show (in tears!) to win me concert tickets, cooking me your amazing food, and for being my supporter and confidant. I LOVE YOU MUMMA and I am so grateful for you every day!
To my beautiful wife, Melanie. You are the LOVE of my life, the rock of the family, and one of the strongest women I know. You are beautiful, smart, funny, caring, loving, and the BEST MOM in the world! I can't imagine being on this journey with anyone but you! I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you. I LOVE YOU so much MOMMA BEAR. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
To my Mother-in-law, You welcomed me into your family with open arms years ago. Since then, you have shown me love, support, encouragement, advice, and have become one of my biggest cheerleaders! Thank you for everything and I hope that you have a wonderful MOTHER'S DAY!
The women in my life are ROCK STARS! I have learned so much from these women and love them all so much.
Happy Mother's Day to all of the amazing Mom's out there that bend but never break. WE LOVE YOU ALL!❤️❤️
Unfortunately supporters of other candidates could not be civil. Entertaining or posting to provide a forum for divisive or mean spirited words in a local election is not what I want. I want to inform and have constructive conversations. Good luck to all of the candidates and I will continue to simply share my positions in the interest of informing voters. I call on other candidates to do the same.
It is difficult to anticipate every scenario when sitting in a school board seat, we've seen that with COVID.The school committee had to pivot. That is why I stress communication-we're in new territory with new issues and challenges facing us. No matter where you are on an issue I believe residents, particularly with children in schools, want someone open and listening. There is always room for improved communication. It's when we stop talking and communicating, tuning others out with different opinions, that the collaboration halts. I represent a fresh voice. I don't carry other people's water and I'm not there to be a rubber stamp. School committee by design is to represent the taxpayers and student families. We are advisors to the experts who are the educators. I want to be a voice at the table ensuring all perspectives are heard.
Over the last several weeks, my campaign page has been filled with comments and concerns by the parents in Mansfield. I enjoyed reading all of the comments because it proves to me that there needs to be more opportunities for all to voice their concerns.
As a school committee candidate, I would like there to be more open in-person communication between parents and the committee. This is a very important priority of mine.
The children are the priority of the school committee, so more open forums to encourage these conversations is exactly what I want to change. We all need to communicate our thoughts and work towards a common goal which is what is BEST for our children at school.
There will always be different points of view on certain issues but the school committee must remain apolitical. Parents should feel comfortable speaking out at the school committee meetings and know that all of their voices are being heard.
Communication, transparency, and accountability are all vital to a successful team. All parents views need to be heard, considered and encouraged at the school committee meetings, even if they are different from the committee's priorities.
I would like to hear from parents on how they would prefer to voice their concerns if they were unable to attend a school committee meeting.
I would be interested in hearing Lynn Cavicchi and Vivian Webster's point of view on the current state of communication between the parents and school committee. Has communication between parents and the committee been effective? Does it allow for parents to speak freely about their concerns? What would you both do to make parents communication with the committee more inclusive?
Lawn signs are complete and I received an overwhelming response from people wanting to host a sign. Thank you, I really appreciate everyone's support of my campaign. See you all on May 10th!
