This is a Vedic lullaby sung by Queen Madalasa to her children to enlighten them with spiritual knowledge.

The lullaby is a part of a story from the ‘Markandeya Purana’, an ancient Vedic text (ancient India, probably from 250 CE).

In the story, Madalasa, the enlightened Queen of Ritadhwaja sings this lullaby to her kids.
When her babies cried, instead of diverting their attention with material objects like toys or dolls, she chose to introduce them to the Ultimate Truth, which she sung in the form of a sweet lullaby called Madalasa Upadesha or “The Lullaby of Queen Madalasa”.

The original lullaby has eight different strophes.

This version is the interpretation by the artist Shimshai.

Samsāra Māyā Parivar Jitosi
