Summer is underway and I've got summer tutoring started! I will be on Eastern time again soon and am setting up my June/July schedule.

🛑 Avoid the summer slide with the young ones! I am limited this summer, but I have 2 small group sight word group options and room for up to 5 individual tutoring kids for summer.

There are 2 options to get your upcoming K-2nd grader feeling a little more confident on the first day!

🔑 Sight Words Masterclass meets 1-2 times weekly for 30 minutes each for 6 weeks. The focus is 50 sight words with phonics mixed in and goes at the pace of the class.

💹 Individual sessions start with a free assessment and we meet for 30 minutes per session, each focused on the child's needs and we go at their pace. This includes sight words, phonics patterns, rhyming, fluency, and comprehension.

Please message for details. We can do it weekly or as a package to accommodate summer schedules.

🎯 Both include access to my Google Classroom with reading resources such as sight words, games, printables, and videos.

BOOK CLUB
I may have one book club for the end of June/July. If you have a 3-5th grader and are interested, please message me, and Ill share details when I have them. Right now I have 2 girls who want to do a book club.

Some people call me crazy, but I love working with kids with behavior struggles. I just had an entire reading tutoring lesson with a student who refused to talk.
Mom didn't ask to reschedule and we didn't need to. He was still cooperative, he just needed some power and didn't want to talk. I can work with that.

I had to throw my original plan of shared reading (because he wouldn't read) to practice slowing down when he read and then answer questions. But my goal was the same. We could work on slowing down next time, I gave him control of my screen, went to IXL to passages that would read to him. I let him start the reading, choose the answer, and submit. I could still see if he was understanding what he was hearing and I could observe him going back into the passage to find answers.

Mission accomplished. And that kid did not have any behaviors while we worked. I heard him eating, he answered me in the chat if I needed to ask something (like what he was eating because it sounded crunchy and delicious!), and he could still work on reading skills stress-free.

He gave me a thumbs up when I said have a great week and see you next Wednesday.
