The MCC question is not on today's ballot but may appear in the future. My apologies for the confusion.
There are multiple local issues on the upcoming Aug 6th ballot. One of which is a proposal from Metropolitan Community College (MCC) to attach with our district. Several other districts around us have previously attached with MCC. This ballot issue is proposed and funded soley by MCC, not by Platte County School District. If passed, it would it would lower the cost per credit hour by ~50% for anyone that lives within the district. It would also create an estimated tax levy of 0.1790. Whatever your opinion is on this and other issues/candidates, please do not forget to exercise your right to vote on Tuesday.
Calling all business owners in PCR-3! On August 16, we will host a Vendor Fair from 7-11am in conjunction with our staff Convocation event. Great event happening today! Don't be alarmed if you see some commotion around the high school campus this morning.
This Friday, April 5, PCHS's Pirates Serve/Interact Club, Student Council, and DECA students will once again be hosting Arrive Alive .Arrive Alive is an event that was created in 2012 to raise awareness and provide education related to distracted driving through partnerships with local community responders and resources. Platte County High School hosts Arrive Alive every spring on the Friday before Prom. Please be aware that this year's event will include a Mock Crash in front of Northland Career Center the morning of April 5. Volunteers conduct a seatbelt check prior to and after Arrive Alive and we have consistently found that seatbelt wearing increases after the event. 🧡🖤
Looking good out there tonight Pirates!
Wow! I am speechless. Thank you all so much for the support and the encouragement to keep going. This is not possible without an incredible community, family and friends. I can't wait for us to do incredible things in Platte County R-3 School District! Let's go Pirates!

We took a break this morning to explore The Rabbit Hole in NKC. It was like walking through all your favorite books as a kid. Highly recommend for all age! No mailers for me, but I'm back outside today to walk a few more neighborhoods before Tuesday. Three more days! Platte County R-3 School District
I'm out walking again on a beautiful Friday evening. Fun fact: I am handing out door hangers which I purchased myself, along with all other materials and advertising you may see. Like I have said before, I do not believe outside money has any place in local school board elections.
We walked more neighborhoods (north and south) today and I even found a new assistant. 6 days left! Platte County R-3 School District
I understand that some people were not able to attend the recent meet the candidates night. Here is part of my opening statement from the night:
"Over the past several years I have regularly attended school board meetings, community events, and participated in many district community advisory groups. I have formed valuable relationships with teachers, parents and administrators. I want to ensure that the school board continues to make decisions based on facts, not politics. It should go without saying that school boards should be non-partisan. There is no reason a candidate or current board member should receive resources or direction from political groups. The board’s purpose is to support ALL our students, educators and staff, and I want to assist in any way possible. It is OK if we do not agree on every issue, but we have to be able to discuss our differences in a civil manner. I understand I still have much to learn but am willing to put in the time and listen to the people who know more than me in order to make the best decisions for ALL of our students, staff and community." Platte County R-3 School District
Just got home from a run in the rain. I can't express how humbling it is to have so many believe in me, and to see signs with my name in front yards around the Platte County R-3 School District. I am incredibly grateful for the support and it would be my honor to represent you on the school board. Nine more days to go. I have a few more signs if anybody still needs one. Please say hi if you see me walking (or running) in your neighborhood!
