This is common with parents that are unknowingly pregnant and still nursing. I was not pregnant when i started having a nursing aversion with my youngest. It was a side effect of PPD. You are not alone, crazy, or broken!

I'm working on a seemless scheduling system through my website. This will make it easier to submit payments and paperwork!

SN: I still can't believe I've made it this far! It feels good to see my name officially listed as a CLC!

They can smell you and your milk from a mile away 🤣 (they can seriously smell your milk). My recently weaned 17 month old will wake up mid-nap if I enter the room!

Cereal and oatmeal in a baby's bottle is considered solids. 6 months and ALL signs of readiness dassit. We practice evidence based lactation around here.

Myth: Formula fed babies sleep longer at night than breastfed babies.

Let's talk about a popular myth I hear parents are being told all the time: Formula fed babies sleep longer at night than breastfed babies.

Is this true? Let's look at the research:

Let's start by realizing that it is perfectly normal for babies to wake frequently at night, and in fact is essential in younger babies for caloric intake and for protection against SIDS.

In fact, research shows us that 79% of 6-12 months olds still woke up up at night, with 61% still needed at least one feeding at night.

Research also tells us that babies who consumed more food during the day continued to wake up as frequently as those who do not - which tells us that "filling baby up" during the day in an attempt to get them to sleep longer doesn't really work.

This is because babies don't just wake up at night just because they are hungry, they wake up for various reasons.

When looking at the research, studies show parents who breastfeed do get more sleep than formula feeding parents, with an average of 30 minutes more sleep.

So while some parents read online, or are told by well meaning friends and family, that feeding their baby formula will help their baby sleep longer, this is not necessarily the case.

Antibodies in breast milk remain for 10 months after Covid infection – study 28/09/2021

"Her team also investigated the transfer of coronavirus-specific antibodies into breast milk in 50 women after vaccination with either the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson (J&J) jabs. All women injected with the Moderna vaccine, and 87% of those who received the Pfizer vaccine had coronavirus-specific IgG antibodies in their milk, while 71% and 51% respectively had virus-specific IgA antibodies. For the J&J vaccine, only 38% of women had IgG antibodies and 23% had IgA antibodies against coronavirus in their milk."

About My Love For Lactation

When I was pregnant with my first son, I had everything planned out. I was going to have an unmedicated birth, formula feed (surprise!), ect.

The more research I did the more I realized how beneficial breastfeeding/chestfeeding was. Not only for my son, but also for me. As a black woman nearing 30, I became hyperaware of my health. I figured if nursing my son was beneficial for both of us then I was going to stick it out. It was hard in the beginning due to my son having a tongue and lip tie. I scheduled a few consults with lactation professionals, and that’s when it hit me. None of them looked like me.

When I noticed how little BIPOC lactation professionals were available in my area, it became more than just about my health. I needed to be the person that walked into the room and put Black and Brown parent’s minds at ease. Therefore, I began my CLC journey shortly after my 2nd son was born. As I studied and nursed him, I saw just how much of a difference I could make one baby at a time!

So here I am!
