Food waste has significant health, environmental, social & economic implications for individuals, our communities & the planet.
The amount of food wasted by consumers in the US alone has risen 50% compared with the 1970s, estimated to cost $162B!
This wasted food that includes mostly grains and fresh produce accumulate in landfills that produce *methane* when decomposing, resulting in environmental consequences related to ozone depletion & climate change.
Food waste diverted to incineration facilities also poses negative environmental consequences.

For every pound of vegetables, fruits or grains brought to market, another pound of inedible material (straw & cornstalks) was created.
Land-clearing practices of agri-businesses also contribute to deforestation, ecosystem degradation and water pollution.

How would we replace all these things if we cut down production like so many activists and organizations want?
There would be an enormous environmental impact if we needed to make all these things synthetically
Think of the health impact of all these fake products and foods as well…

Without the confidence that comes from knowing how to prepare quality foods, people are left vulnerable to the aggressive marketing tactics of the food industry, which is all too eager to sell us highly addictive, poor-quality, man-made food-like products that have negative effects on our health.
What’s missing is the education—the basic skills, knowledge, and confidence—to purchase and cook real foods.
Cooking is fun, freeing, and essential to achieving health and happiness. Unfortunately, we have handed over the act of cooking, this unique task that makes us human, to the food industry.
We have become food consumers, not food producers or preparers, and in doing so, we have lost our connection to the world and to ourselves.
However, we have to cook our way out of our addiction to bad food. Shopping, cooking, and eating have far-reaching benefits to our health, the earth, the economy, and beyond.
If you don’t know where to start, check out YouTube videos on how to perform basic cooking skills, start with easy recipes, and work your way up. Or find a friend who loves to cook, and plan meals you can make together in order to learn from them. There’s nothing better than sharing meals with loved ones, and it’s a great way to create quality time!

Obesity is a complex issue.
No one should be made to feel bad about being in this situation. However, no one should accept it as irreversible or that there is nothing they can do about it either because obesity, like anorexia, is not beautiful because it is a sign that something in your body-mind-soul system is way out of whack and you might need some help to heal a deep-rooted problem.
To discover the underlying causes, (1) try an elimination diet to see what foods may be affecting you, (2) seek out counselling and/or hypnosis to see if there are cultural and/or emotional issues that could be contributing to practises that are not serving you, and (3) re-awaken your spirituality if it is dormant. One or all of these steps together can be a good place to start.

Our body can synthesize glucose through gluconeogenesis. There is no such thing as sodioneogenesis, though. Does this give a hint of which nutrient is essential and which isn’t?
One of four adults in the Western world suffers from hypertension. In that scenario, the prime intervention any doctor will recommend is decreasing sodium. The evidence rises continually that refined sugar and other refined carbohydrates are the main contributors to hypertension!
While salt reduction might provide a modest benefit to some people with high blood pressure, it does not extend to the rest of the population. Research now increasingly suggest that sugar in the diet is more strongly related to high blood pressure than salt.
One of the most underrated health threats because of hypertension is the commutative effect with diabetes type 2, whose prevalence is continuously on the rise. High blood pressure fuels the side effects of increased glucose and insulin levels exponentially!
Current research shows the direct link of the glycemic load to hypertension forcefully. Drawing from the results of several randomized controlled trials showed that a reduction in the glycemic index by ten units decreased both systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure by 1.1 and 1.3 mmHg, respectively. A decrease in GL of 28 units also reduced overall SBP and DBP by 2.0 and 1.4 mmHg.
As with most things, for better or for worse. Natural carbohydrate sources have their place! For people with existing high blood pressure or who have had cardiovascular disease in the past, salt intake is certainly worth keeping an eye on, also! Blaming an essential nutrient to cause illness in a healthy state from my standpoint is ridiculous, though.
If you want to learn how to use sodium and natural carbohydrate sources to your advantage and increase your mental and physical performance, please send me a dm. It would be my pleasure to be part of your success.

For many years we have been urged to consider limiting our intake of red meat & full fat dairy however, recent research suggests this approach was over simplified and inaccurate
That's because saturated fat is only one of SEVERAL dietary factors affecting heart disease risk, all of which are INTERRELATED
Some scientists argue that saturated fat isn't the issue in heart disease, it is sugar & chronic inflammation
