I am beyond thrilled to make my debut back home in Slovenia at the SNG Ljubljana with one of my favourite roles, Onegin, together with my wife Mojca Bitenc singing Tatiana! Another dear friend of mine off and on stage Martin Sušnik will portray Lenski. .rukavina is also making her debut as Olga. What a cast! Toi toi toi everyone!

The long awaited debut as Conte Almaviva is finally here! It seems I tend to have very colorful costumes in the Mozart operas at the Oper Frankfurt. See also the post regarding Zauberflöte which we bring back later this season.
It was rather a short rehearsal period, but as Bernstein once famously remarked "To achieve great things, two things are needed: a plan and not quite enough time..

I couldn't be more excited to sing the role of Rodrigo again. This time in my home theater at the Oper Frankfurt. Breathtaking music and intriguing plot makes this one of my favourite operas. I hope you get the chance to hear this great cast, if not here are at least some beautiful pictures of this production. Toi toi toi to everyone!

The Premiere is here! We've been polishing the show from last year for the whole month and couldn't be more excited to finally present it to the public. The story of Butterfly is intriguing on its own, and with this kind of staging, it is truly a spectacle not to be missed. I wish each and every one on the stage and behind it a huge TOI TOI TOI!

SEASON 23/24 ANNOUNCEMENT!

Dear friends!

It is with a great pleasure, that I can share with you an upcoming Season at my artistic home at the Oper Frankfurt.
First of all, I am singing my first major Wagnerian role, secondly I'm finally able to slip into the role of Il Conte, which I wanted to do for so long, moreover I'm returning to one of my all time favourite roles of Rodrigo and not to mention the fun I'll have returning as Papageno. It truly is a season that I can't wait to start with!

It is not everyday that you open a show on Easter, moreover to play a double bill that is extremly rarely performed. Weill's Der Zar lässt sich fotografieren and Orff's Die Kluge turned out to be an extremly engaging and fun experience, which I hope we manage to convey to the public as well.
As the Zar, I allowed these few photographs from the final rehearsals to be taken and to share them with you!

Tonight marks my professional operatic debut back home in Slovenia (if I exclude the jump in for Escamillo 2 weeks ago) at the SNG Maribor. And what a role I get to sing. Since I can remember I've had on my repertoar the Arias of the Morte di Rodrigo and tonight I get to perform the whole role of this Verdi's incredible work Don Carlo. Toi toi toi to everyone!

Eugene Onegin was my first title role and it has been among the favorite ones ever since. Intriguing story, interesting characters, and passionate music. What else could one wish for. Tonight is the revival of this wonderful production at the Oper Frankfurt and we can not wait to begin!

The swan has finally died, the baritone sang all of his high G's... We had another fantastic performance of Carmina Burana at the SNG Maribor. Always a pleasure to share a stage with Martin Sušnik and to sing back home!

Tonight we are opening Strauss' last opera Capriccio. It is also my first Premiere of the Season 22/23 in which I will portray the Count. Having done the King earlier this summer in a different production, it seems I am getting the hang of it :)

Today is our Derniere of the Le Roi Arthus! I am very glad that the show also got really good reviews. Here is an example:

I have been preparing for the role of Le Roi Arthus for a long time and I am very happy and excited that the Premiere is finally here. It was an enormous pleasure working with such a dedicated team on and off stage. The rarely performed Chausson's only opera is truly a gem worth seeing. Toi toi toi to everyone!

Dear Friends,
last week I sung my last show of the Season at my home theater Oper Frankfurt. As one comes to an end, one starts to think about the next one. It is with great pleasure that I can share with you an upcoming Season 22/23!

Premiere is here! I am absolutely thrilled to perform among such a nice and talented cast as Sharpless, american Konsul in Nagasaki in Puccini's masterpiece Madama Butterfly. I wish everyone a great success and a huge toi toi toi!

I am very excited to share with you the news that we are recording Bach's St. Matthew's Passion for the ORF III, where I will sing the part of Jesus at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl alongside marvelous colleagues. You can tune in this Saturday at 9:10 in the morning. Happy Easter!

Domen Križaj makes debut at the Oper Frankfurt with highly praised Liederabend and joins the Ensemble in Season 2020/2021.

Roles this season among others include Albert in Massenet's Werther, Lescaut in Puccini's Manon Lescaut and the title role of Onegin in Tchaikowsky's masterpiece.

​Domen Križaj will also perform at the Tiroler Festspiel Erl, where he will portray David in Mascgani's L'amico Fritz.
