Wow, someone just reminded me that it was 17 years ago TODAY that I released my first movie, Diary of a Mad Black Woman and today A Madea Homecoming is released on Netflix. Wow! What a run. What a blessing. I can honestly say that if I did not have you all on my side, I donāt know where I would be. I thank God for you. Thank you to my ride or die audience! I hope you get a chance to watch A Madea Homecoming this weekend. If I can get you to literally laugh out loud then my goal will have been met. There is so much darkness in the world, and I hope this brings some laughter to your soul. Love yāall. TP.
WOW!!!!! Since the beginning of my career, I was always told that āblack moviesā don't do well in other countries. I want to say, "thank you" to not only my ride or dies in the USA, but to all of you in the rest of the world that helped Hollywood see what Iāve always known! Movies with Black people in them can appeal to the entire globe. Thank you, thank you, thank you. THANK YOU Netflix!!
The ladies are back tonight. 9/8c on

About 26 years ago, I was struggling and not sure if I would be able to break into the entertainment business. I had managed to sneak into (cause I was broke) a play called Seven Guitars, and I got a chance to speak with the great August Wilson at an after party. I didnāt know how he would receive me because the kind of plays I was doing weren't Broadway, but he was so kind, encouraging, and inspiring that I went home and wrote my very first screenplay. I called it A Jazzmanās Blues. I imagined playing a role along with Will Smith, Halle Berry, Sir Ben Kingsley, Cicely Tyson and Diana Ross, with Debbie Allen doing the choreography. Well, after waiting 26 years and realizing that weāve all aged out of the characters (since they range from 17 to 45) I had to find new talent. And the cast I found is exceptional. The performances they put down gave me chills in every scene (but more about them soon). And I did manage to get Debbie Allen, who was phenomenal. These dance numbers are incredible! Anyway, last night we shot the final scene of Jazzman, and I must say, I have never been happier filming anything in my life. This dream has finally been realized. Thank you to my audience who has always been there for me. Thank you to my cast and crew, and a very special thanks to for giving me every tool I needed to make this film be all that I ever hoped it could be. I canāt wait for you all to see it.
Yes, it took 26 years, but it was so worth the wait. Please donāt give up on your dreams no matter how long they take.
