The only bakery in the besieged Rukban camp stopped operating on January 21 after running short of flour.
The camp, which is home to around 8,000 internally displaced Syrians, has been under siege by the Syrian regime and its allies since 2019, forcing residents to survive off of smuggled products.
According to residents, regime checkpoints recently blocked merchants from bringing flour to the camp.
توقف المخبز الوحيد في مخيم الركبان المحاصر عن العمل في ٢١ يناير / كانون الثاني بعد نفاد الدقيق. المخيم والذي يسكنه حوالي ٨٠٠٠ نازح سوري بالداخل محاصر من قبل النظام السوري وحلفائه منذ عام ٢٠١٩. مما أجبر السكان على الإعتماد على المنتجات المهربة للنجاة. وبحسب أقوال الأهالي، فقد منعت نقاط التفتيش التابعة للنظام مؤخراً التجار من إدخال الدقيق إلى المخيم.
An all too regular living situation for millions of Syrians. This is how those in Rukban camp live everyday. There are 10,000 IDPs who live in Rukban camp on the Southern border of Syria.
"We need schools and hospitals"
Rukban camp consists largely of women, children, and elderly. Kids are growing up without an education and are dying prematurely from preventable illnesses and injuries.
Residents of Rukban beg the world to see their living situation.
Rukban is located on the Jordanian boarder in the middle of the desert where the weather and climate rips through the tent city daily.
Rukban camp is in dire need of schools.
There are roughly 10,000 residents of Rukban camp, 80% of those are children and elderly. These kids are growing up without food, medicine, or an education.
"We ask reporters to enter the camp to tell our pain and suffering to the world."
There are still thousands of internally displaced persons in Rukban camp under siege by the Assad regime. Assad is blocking humanitarian aid from organizations like the UN from entering the camp still to this day.

| Yaqeen Al-Akeel, only a few months old, was born with a cleft palate and needs urgent life-saving surgery outside the Rukban IDP camp.
Due to her condition, she has difficulty eating and is at increased risk of airway complications.
Residents have been calling for the immediate evacuation of Yaqeen for medical treatment as her condition continues to deteriorate, but their appeals continue to be ignored.

Around 80% of Rukban’s population are women and children. Children are at extreme risk of severe illness and malnutrition as the camp has been blockaded by the Syrian government since 2018.
