Take some time today to ground in nature.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Take a comfortable seat anywhere. Mines in the soft grass facing the sun. Put away electronic devices. Listen to nature. The birds. The bees. The squirrels. The trees. Take a moment here to connect with what surrounds you. Find stillness here or take it all in. Thanking the earth for being here and providing you with exactly what you need in this moment.

Sometimes yoga is taking a moment to just be present and enjoy the simple moments.

Today mine is outside with my daughter and our bubble machine.

To me, yoga can be an art form. The body does and feels what it needs. Listen to that. Today I was feeling a little out of balanced but I realized I just needed to find stillness with my daughter. Let go of the stress of everyday life and just feel. Feel the movement our bodies needed.

Nine months in and nine months out.

I have learned so much over these past nine months. Not only learning how to take care of a newborn, but also learning how to take care of myself. I felt like I basically had to relearn my body.
From what kinds of foods I can eat to how to manage my monthly cycle. I honestly felt like I was going through puberty all over again while also having a baby. I can go on for days about all the new things that I have learned but the most important part is I did it all with love.

Not taking from others, aka non-stealing.

There is a lot to unpack here, but it is so important to have balance! This giving and receiving can be energetic as well as physical.
(Examples: Time, success, relationships, possessions, achievements)

Be content with what you have.
▪️let go of the “I wish” statements.
▫️let go of envy and jealousy
▪️let go of the past and worries of the future
▫️let go of your comfort zone (stealing from yourself!)

Ever hear the expression practice makes perfect?

That expression made me VERY competitive when I was younger. Years later, one of my first grade students reiterated this phrase to me and I remember looking at him and we talked about it. He felt and believed that if he wasn’t “perfect” he wouldn’t be accepted (by parents, teachers, friends). ‘Perfect’ is a construct. It’s different for everyone. This word laid so heavy on him. The fact that a word can invoke fear of not being good enough. Especially in societies youth. Finally, we came to the conclusion that …Practice makes better!

Now is perfect a word I would encourage you to stop saying? NO! Again, perfect is a construct. But I would say try not to let societal pressure influence what you believe to be perfect. If something is perfect to you - than that is exactly what it is!

Practice because it feels good. Practice because it makes you happy.

Don’t forget to have fun. Even when life has you spinning 😉

Seriously though, as adults we get wrapped up in “adulting” we forget how important it is to take time for our wellbeing.
Do something today that makes you laugh. Do something that makes you feel good!

Yogi’s choice: tell us about one of your favorite moments together.

There’s FAR too many to choose from. With that said, my favorite was the first time I held her in my arms right after delivery. It was such a beautiful moment. Tears of joy immediately streamed down my face. It was the most unforgettable moment.

Just want to say a huge thank you to all the hosts and sponsors of this amazing week of love! I really enjoyed opening up and sharing this time with my little one, my puppy, and all of you 🙏♥️🥰

Inverted heart opener: how do you deal with circumstances that can be challenging?

One breath at a time. I hold her, close my eyes for a few moments, and just breathe deep together. Then together we can manage to get things done and overcome each challenge. Currently we are teething, and I mean we because if she’s in pain - I feel that (late nights and such).

Backbend with props: how does your little love help you on a daily basis?

These two were having a blast playing and crawling after each other. Meanwhile, I’m just breathing and trying to relax into this pose. 😅

Little love helps me by being a GREAT listener. I can talk to her for hours and read my books to her. She listens and babbles back. She helps me through my yoga practice whether that’s a meditative walk in silence, or playing with the pup, or even folding laundry (she just undoes what I fold but it’s a gas). She helps me become a better version of myself even when the days are a challenge.

Kneeling/seated heart opener: how has your life changed since encountering this love?

She was on the move today! This was a challenge for me! I had to switch up the poses a few times 😂landed on sukasana with cactus arms.

It has changed significantly! First being my routine. I was someone who followed my daily schedule. But now I follow an ever changing routine. There are no set times to do things. We get done what we can, prioritize, and change up our play stations to keep baby engaged. It’s been fun learning new ways to get things done.
Next are my relationships. I love how my husband and I got to learn more about each other as we raise our little love. But also the bond that I have with family and friends grew as well. Yes, some relationships changed as Our responsibilities are different. and finally EVERYTHING! And I smile when I say this. She’s my world and is not only a part of my life, but those around us as well.

♥️standing heart opener: Share a moment with is when your little love lifted your spirits

So when I first got my ‘time of the month’ postpartum, my milk supply dropped, I was SO tired and moody as a result of feeling tired. I was overwhelmed with work, trying to keep up my milk supply, and get all the housework done. I FELT so drained to be honest. BUT you know that look your baby gives you? The one that just makes you melt? The one where you can tell that she is trying to communicate how much she loves and appreciates you? Well, she gave me this sincere, loving gaze and then gave me a kiss. I just melted and it made me feel 100 times better! I will never forget that day :’)
Today all she wanted to do was read her book, but at least i got her to participate in the photo. 😂🥰

Bring your attention inward. Why is this important? Not acknowledging your emotions will leave you angry, confused, anxious, and build up fear.

Acknowledging your emotions will build self awareness, the ability to handle and know yourself better, and leave you in control.

Karma is a term SO commonly used but what does it really mean? Karma is an action/activity that produces a result and leaves behind an energetic impression (samskara).

Ever hear the expression “What goes around comes around?”
Well, what this really means is if you are holding on to negative energy- you will attract that same energy. Same with positive energy. You get what you put out basically.

Wishing bad karma on someone? “They will get what they deserve!” There is so much negativity surrounding this statement. It is honestly more beneficial to put this energy towards your own self work. Just remember whatever effects our actions have, those effects will come back to us at some point in the future.

Finally, “karma is a b****”
Each individual is working on their own karma. If you think that karma is a B, then that she will be! Again, the energy you put out you will receive.

Remember that It pays to act towards others the way that you wish others acted towards you.

How’s your posture?
Make sure to check in with your posture throughout your practice. This will ease discomfort and avoid injury. A lot of the time we let our ego take the lead and our egos have a way of thinking we’re ready for something even if we are not quite there yet.

Listen to your body! The body knows best 🥰

There are nine obstacles, according to the Yoga Sutras, that disrupt your heart mind. The heart mind is education of the heart and mind (center of consciousness). This includes illness, apathy, self doubt, carelessness, fatigue, ungroundedness, regression, egos quest for gratification, and distorted views.

Each can cause negative thought, pain, disturbed breathing, and just feeling not your best.

Meditation is a great way to overcome these challenges. Although stillness meditation is the goal, there are so many different ways to develop a healthy, calm heart mind.

🙏 meditative walk
🙏a chat with a friend or professional
🙏 guided meditation
🙏 hatha meditation
🙏movement

The list can go on. The main goal here is to calm the mind and body.

Ground where you can.
I had the urge to go out in the snow today to start my practice. I needed some fresh air and a new space to be.

Where are you practicing today?
Is it in your bedroom, living room, studio, outside? In a parking lot just taking a few deep breaths?

Let me know!

When’s the last time you were excited?

Often, we get trapped in the day to day schedule. We eat, work, sleep, chores, cook, repeat. Sometimes we loose track of looking forward to something.

Remember being a kid and riding a train/ airplane for the first time? Or trying something new? Maybe waiting for a friend to come over? Or a holiday party start? Remember that feeling?! Don’t loose that just because we’re older. Book a trip. Go out on a drive to a new place. Start a new hobby. Get the new job. You got this!

Share something that you’re excited about! It can literally be going for a walk. Because I know that’s what I am looking forward to today.

Also, this picture makes me so excited to get some hot cocoa. My husband and I were on our honeymoon in Spain and we were SO EXCITED to get a cup of this hot cocoa, and let me tell you it was so worth it 🤤
