Today's "by their very nature" artist feature: Nora Saulnier! As well as having her work in the Kejimkujik show, Nora designed the invitations for the event. ✨

Sometimes when you are making a lot of prints for a project, the ink gets a little carried away! Here is another "by their very nature" artist feature: Piper Doak. Piper is a printmaker in her second year at NSCAD, and is excited to be exhibiting her work alongside so many talented artists. 🌊

A "by their very nature" artist feature: Brody Weaver is one of the student curators for the Kejimkujik exhibition. Among many other things that they are doing to help make the exhibition possible, they are currently working on vinyl text for the show! 🌲

The 2019 Kejimkujik Show, "by their very nature", will take place at the Anna Leonowens Gallery from November 19th-30th, with an opening on November 18th from 5:30-7pm.
About the exhibition:
This show is a collaboration between Parks Canada and NSCAD University.
After a week-long residency at Kejimkujik National Park, 20 emerging artists have come together to create art that explores the subversive role that mimicry, adaptation, and hybridity play in queering and reconfiguring the wilderness mythologies that were integral to the establishment of our Canadian National Parks Systems.
The show will include 2D, 3D, and intermedia works that investigate how landscape shapes our collective Canadian identity — both inverted identities (expressed through a process of mirroring in others), and plural identities (formed through exchange, tension, conflict, and hybridization). Our studio research will be directed towards the role that Keji — a geographical and cultural landscape collaged of indigenous / settler histories and contemporary realities — plays in the performative process of building personal, communal, and national identities.
