AFC Tickton Firestorm

Firestorm finished off their season & closed out their first season in group one with 2 tough matches against a quality Hull United side.
Despite starting brightly and looking to take the game to the opposition a couple of incisive break ways & goals rocked the boys & as a result we lost our way a bit. Credit however to the boys. After a chance to regroup they came out second game all guns blazing playing with a hunger, fight & determinantion we are used to seeing. It was as good a 15 minutes as we’ve played all season capped off with 2 fantastic strikes from Brady & Spencer. Second half both sides continued to go at each other but sadly given all the effort & work rate the boys had put in it was just a step too far to keep Hull United at bay & their quality told. Congratulations to Louis Nagi & his boys but we couldn’t have asked any more today of our boys.

MOTM - Max, outstanding in midfield. Never stopped running or working & fantastic use of the ball. Ran the midfield at times.

Well done to the boys this season. Coming up to group 1 has been tough at times but we’ve stuck togeher, worked tirelessly & reaped the rewards with some fantastic results & performances. The boys can now look forward to a summer of tournament football & the switch to 9 a side. Be proud boys…

Another cracking night down at Warner’s for the Firestorm boys under the lights & music. The boys are absolutely loving the Friday nights & have made huge progress already considering we only entered the league a month ago. Both of our teams tonight played some cracking stuff. Some excellent goals & results.

Goalscorers - Spen, Oscar, Luke. Big congratulations to Luke, trained with us for the 1st time Wednesday & played his 1st competitive game for us tonight, ending up on the scoresheet.
Shout out to Harvey - some key saves & deserving of his clean sheets.
Star man - Oscar, calm & assured in the anchor man role yet still managed to pop up with a couple of cracking goals.

Another football filled weekend for Firestorm:

Friday night - back under the lights at Warner’s for the East Riding Futsal League.

Sunday - our last official match at under 10s bringing phase 2 to a close. We welcome Louis Nagi & his stong, talented Hull United side to Longcroft for our final game of phase 2 & the season before we concentrate on summer tournament football & making the exciting switch to under 11s & 9 a side.

The FIrestorm boys finished their football feast this weekend with arguably 2 of their strongest displays of the season.
Playing with a confidence & belief their ability deserves they looked to attack & be positive from minute 1 against a strong, tough Hessle Hulks side. Despite conceding first in both games the boys showed hunger, resilience & belief & battled back superbly in both games. 2 more goals for Spencer capped off match 1, on 🔥at the moment with a pressure penalty & another solo quality finish & the whole group are made up for Jake finally bagging his first goal for the team with a quality equaliser from a corner in match 2, from then on the boys where unfortunate not to win late on & secure 2 victories.
There’s been times this phase we’ve had tough results & tough moments/experiences to swallow & accept but we’ve stuck together as a group & today showed who we are & what we are made of.

Well done today to the Firestorm boys. 1st tournament of the summer saw us head to the sands of Bridlington. A great effort playing a totally different type of football to what we are used too, sadly going out on penalties in the semi finals to the eventual winners. Be proud though boys, we go again tomorrow

After a frustrating set of results last Sunday Firestorm looked to get back to our playing principles & beliefs from the 1st minute today producing 2 excellent performances & results against a decent & well organised Driffield Juniors side.
The boys played some really good, positive football & took the chances we’ve created so many of in recent weeks but not taken.
At the back we where organised and resolute with the whole team contributing to 2 clean sheets although we where thankful to goalkeeper Harvey for some key saves at key times.
Credit as well to Driffield, this was a game played in exactly the right spirit with both teams looking to play the right way.

POTM - Spencer. Full of running & energy up front & a constant thorn in the Driffield defence & clinical with 2 superb finishes.

Two positive & well earnt results in the sunshine at Longcroft for the Firestorm boys today against a resolute North Ferriby team. From the first whistle the boys looked to be positive & get on the ball & pass the ball around really nicely enjoying long periods of the ball & sustained pressure culminating in a number of good opportunities created with Ferribys keeper making some excellent saves & again the cross bar thwarting us. All the boys put a real shift in showing a determination & hunger not to concede. A deserved weekend off next week before back at it for the run in. Well done.

Tonight the Firestorm Boys travelled to Bilsdon Park to continue our futsal learning experience with a series of games against a strong Hessle Rangers Juniors side. Some real talent on show as both teams went after each other, plenty of decent goals & just like a few weeks ago in our group game both teams trying to play the right way in the right spirit.

A tough couple of games this morning against Priory Tigers. The boys started really brightly playing some good, quick football but sadly it was one of those days we just couldn’t convert our chances. The boys kept grafting & going till the end but sadly one of those days. A number of complimentary comments from the opposition about the boys which is always great to hear. Onto next week.

This Sunday sees the Firestorm Boys take on Priory Tigers. Always keenly contested, competitive games between the 2 teams in the past. Sunday will be no different.

2 tough games today for the Firestorm Boys as we completed our weekend long rivalry against a strong & well organised Kingswood Sharks team. Sadly the theme from Fridays futsal carried on, we created plenty of good opportunities but just didn’t take them. In the 2nd game we where unlucky not to get a share of the spoils with Jake Redmonds injury time header crashing off the underside of the bar & bouncing on the line & us unable to force the rebound home. Definitely a VAR moment. One big positive to take from todays game, goal number 100 for the season. Onto next week.

The Firestorm boys made their’s and the clubs debut tonight in the East Riding Futsal League. A great 1st experience for them playing under the music & the lights, and we look forward to see them improving & developing every week by being part of it. Exciting times ahead.

The boys have waited a long time for this. We even have a new kit for the occasion.

This weekend the Firestorm Boys face a double header as we face Kingswood United Sharks. On Friday night the 2 sides face each other as we enter the East Riding Futsal League for the first time, something all of us are excited about. 48 hours later we face each other again this time in our group 1 fixture. 2 good sides, all games sure to be competitive.

Tickton Firestorm U10s are currently fundraising to enable them to play in tournaments at and Stadiums throughout the UK in 2022! ⚽️

The boys next fundraising event is on Saturday 16th April, where, as a team, they will be walking the 10 mile Hudson Way, from Market Weighton to Beverley 🚶

Today the Firestorm Boys took on a talented Hessle Rangers side in 2 keenly contested matches.
We couldn’t have asked for anymore from the boys today who played with hunger, drive & commitment & battled for every ball.
The second game particularly was a real spectacle as both teams went at one another resulting in some excellent goals from both teams & plenty of goalmouth drama.
The Boys should be really proud of themselves today & look forward to heading into a really exciting week ahead with us entering the Friday Night Futsal League for the first time.
